Kyle Munson from the Register called me today. He asked me questions for about a half hour. There will be an article in Sunday's paper about Paul coming to town. I told him there was going to be a boardie meeting but I wasn't sure where. He wanted the phone numbers where I will be when I'm there so he can contact me. He asked me some interesting questions. It will be interesting to see how many make it to the paper. Glad I will already be there. I asked if he had talked to you, Seuss. He knew your name, so he may be calling. He did tell me that the people at the Arena have assured him things will go smoother than they did for Greenday, but advised me to get there early just in case. He said they know this is their big chance to shine and after the way they screwed up the ticket sales, they better not screw up people getting in to the show. He said they seem to realize drawing BIG acts to Des Moines is on the line with how they handle Paul. I hope that bodes well for us.

Hi Seuss and every1, Meetup time for my 3sum could be around 3... I went down last week just to educate myself with the area again, and it is all very walkable.I think you're staying at the Savory? They have a nice grand piano in the bar I could tickle some Macca tunes on...I'd like to feed my face before the show too...we could meet anywhere, not much for crowds that early, except for Macca fans... Whatever we do will be cool by me... Only 10 days now.....Woohoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So does sometime between 3-4 p.m. at Spaghetti Works (maybe meet up in the bar?) seem reasonable? That would work for us. I still want to be at the arena EARLY! I know - I'm paranoid but when you only get the chance to see Paul a few times every 3-4 years, well . . .what can I say

If we can decide on a meeting place for sure - Spaghetti Works?? I'll let Kyle know in case he wants to talk to others that came in from out of town. So, Maccascruff - a couple of questions! Did they pop out the glow sticks at any particular time in Toronto?? Also, how well did you scrutinize the merch? I'm interested in a red ladies shirt that has Paul and his bass but his back is turned. I think it also has his name printed on it? Saw it on that website where they're selling tour merch already so curious if you happened to see it at the show?? Thanks!

I guess I can get to the venue from the Spaghetti Works. A friend (the one whor works at KCCI) emailed me and said to use the North entrance at Wells Fargo, as it has more doors than the south. No, there didn't seem to be any particular time for the pink glow sticks. I didn't use mine until Maybe I'm Amazed, but really didn't see many. I'm going to use it the whole concert from now on. I didn't buy any merchandise because somebody sent me what I was going to buy for letting him use my pre-sale password, so I can't help you there. I have to buy a program for somebody who isn't going. In Toronto, they had programs at places that only sold programs and I'm going to guy it there. I have all the merchandise I will be buying, so I can't help you with any information. Is it easy to find the skywalk from the Spaghetti Works? I have no idea of where to get it. I will probably park at the venue and walk down and back, but I really hate to do that much walking.

The "Works" it is,then, mates! We'll be down there 3ish...hope the weather holds up,it's been great lately.Hopefully we won't have to carry maccascruffs up to the arena, but if we do,then so be it... I've been listening to the concert everyday now for the last week and can barely contain myself! Cheerio!

I will get there and take a taxi if I have to back to the arena. I, too, want to get there very early as I'm not taking any chances either on missing Paul.

All sounds good. We may park somewhere in between - don't know - that's why I take my husband to these things. I buy (ouch!) the tickets - transportation is his assignment
North entrance sounds like a plan. I'll probably still want to be at the arena early!! Have not looked at the setlist yet - can't believe I made it this long!
-
I made it, Seuss, until Toronto without knowing the set list. As soon as I was to my seat, the guy next to me started babbling about it and I had to ask him to be quiet. Then he kept asking me when the concert would be over and I said how many times to I have to tell you I don't know the set list. I had a pretty good idea, but I didn't actually know. I was right, but it was a guess from the past. I definitely am going to the north entrance and I am going early.

Where is The Spaghetti Works??? I'm not familiar with Des Moines at all!! I'm staying at the Savery, so I'm not sure where everything is located. MACCASCRUFF; if the arena is very far from The Spaghetti Works, I can drive my car & give you a ride..... I'm not missing Paul either!!!
(What is the skywalk)????
:

The skywalk is a raised, enclosed walkway that connects many downtown buildings. Are you going to drive to the venue from the Savery or Spaghetti Works? I'd take the ride.
I do know where Court Avenue is. It's south of Walnut, which is where I worked when I was a young thing. Then it was all dive bars and vacant buildings. Somebody who is more familiar will need to tell you how to get there from the Savery, as I don't know how myself. My plan was to park at the Wells Fargo Arena and walk down using the Skywalk. Seuss, can you help her with this question? My van is about to arrive.

Hi! The Spaghetti Works is at 310 Court Avenue. Court Avenue is only 2 blocks south of Locust - where the Savery (410 Locust) is located. Parking on Court is limited and it's metered along the street. My husband is telling me (he's WAY better with this than I am!) Court Ave to the arena is probably 8-10 blocks. Also, I'm sure the desk clerks at the Savery will be more than happy to help you with directions, too. Any of this help at all
-
THANKS SO MUCH TO THE BOTH OF YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!! I guess I'll figure it out when I get there!! MACCASCRUFF; If I need to drive from The Spaghetti Works to the arena, I will, & your welcome to come with me!(as is anyone else who does'nt want to walk)! I was hoping to just walk to the arena, but I'll do whatever is neccesary! As long as I don't miss ANY of the show!! I'm looking foward to meeting everyone!!
ONLY 1 MORE WEEK!!!Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! I can't stand the suspense!!(I have'nt peeked at the set list yet)

Hey all. Just thought I'd pipe in as well to tell ya I'm heading up from Kansas City with the wife for the show. Can NOT friggin' wait! We're staying West of downtown, but heading in before the show for some beers and food. Might go by the Spaghetti Works. We found a brewery close by as well -- I think it's called Court Avenue Brewery.

Yes - it's just about right across the street from the Spaghetti Works. Never been there - a bit more expensive - usually see the "suit crowd" going in and out of there - LOL!

Seuss: Thanks for reply. If it's that "ritzy", I ain't stepping foot in there. Is there any other good bars close to area you'd recommend?

Well, Spaghetti Works has a bar that's adjacent to the restaurant. There's a bar called Johnny's Hall of Fame (serves food, too, but more of a bar), Buzzard Billy's (cajun place - has a bar, too - at least they have crappy beer night so I assume they have a bar
) There are also places on the side streets north and south of Court. Java Joe's (coffee shop) is on 4th just off of Court and probably more that I can't think of. Been awhile since I've been down there and things change pretty rapidly sometimes
-
Yeah for YOU guys out in the corn fields woohooo!!!!
-
Just need a decent place to sit, drink a few beers and get excited for the concert! Sounds like there is quite a few close by. Thanks for all the help!

No problem! Have you had the pleasure of seeing a Paul show before?

Was going to see his show back in 1993 when he was in KC, but the only tickets I could find was way up high (Arrowhead Stadium). I did make it to the last tour in St Louis. Top 3 concert of my life.
