Even though Paul and MPL have said he will fully recover from his illness it would be nice if it could be confirmed that the tour will go on as scheduled. Maybe they don't know yet and are taking wait-and-see approach... I guess we will know for sure within a week or so, since he will have to get together with the band for rehearsals.
We'll certainly know within the next week or so, but if they were postponing the U.S. leg, I believe the announcement would have been made with the Asian cancellations.

Tickets from Crowdsurge arrived yesterday! Fingers crossed no cancelled US dates.

Great article in the New Orleans newspaper: http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2014/06/paul_mccartneys_birthday_is_ju.html

This show (plus all of the U.S. shows in June) have now been rescheduled. http://www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/paul-mccartney-june-dates-re-scheduled-to-october The new date for New Orleans is October 11.

At first was happy to see it was a Saturday night show. Then started checking hotel rates for Friday and Saturday - OUCH! Many hotels sold out. Looks to be a seafood festival going on that weekend which I guess is what is driving up the rates (other than normally higher on weekends). Anyone from the New Orleans area know more?
-
Ouch is right. I just changed my reservation and it is a lot more expensive. Maybe we'd go to a different show in a different city but don't have tix for any other show. Not sure how all that would work out.
-
A seafood festival does not sell out hotels here by any means. That is prime convention time and there could be a large convention eating up the hotel rooms.
-
And as I suspected, 15,000 anesthesiologists are descending on the city for a big conference October 11-15 https://www.asahq.org/Annual-Meeting.aspx

I booked my whole trip - air, hotel - through Expedia and everything says non-refundable and no cancellations. Anyone know what my options are, or am I out $$$?

I would call them (Expedia) anyway. As far as the hotel, sometimes they will contact them directly and request a refund to the customer...it's worth a try. As far as the airline, maybe you can re-schedule a future flight. Good luck!

You will be out some $ for the airfare, if it's a non-refundable fare, unless you are flying Southwest. Even if you are allowed to make changes to your itinerary, and the airfare didn't go up in price, United and American (and everyone else but Southwest, I believe) charges a "change fee" of $200. I'm going to get hit with this when I change my flights around to October for a couple of shows. But definitely contact Expedia and see if they can help you. If you can, do it via e-mail so you have copies of your correspondence with them. Good luck!

Yah - I called Expedia. $200 rebooking fee for the flights, plus another $60 for supposed "difference in fare". Hotel adds another almost $200 for difference in rate at another hotel, since the one I'm in has no rooms available. So, basically, I'm adding almost $450 in costs. And if this all falls through (god forbid), I'll be out even more $$ than original. And another thing - the rescheduled NOLA concert is same weekend as Fest for Beatles Fans in Los Angeles (and guess where I'm from - that's right!!). Definitely rather see Paul than do the Fest, but really wanted to do both!
-
I was a little sad leaving the New Orleans/Biloxi, MS area yesterday knowing that we had planned on seeing Paul that day. Still had a nice vacation in Biloxi. Very glad we will be able to attend the October Paul concert in New Orleans.
-
I think another reason why everything is so expensive in October is because it's Columbus Day weekend..... I am now going to New Orleans because of the 3 day weekend. No time off from week needed. Plus....after Albany.....caught that bug again!

Im sitting here listening to VENUS & MARS on Vinyl (MY TOP 5 FAVORITE ALBUMS OF ALL-TIME). It's awesome that it was recorded in NEW Orleans, and thats where i'm seeing him..(MIND BLOWN) I hope he plays the intro to VENUS & MARS/ROCKSHOW as a tribute, that would be incredible, but I know thats a long shot. I've talked my dad into going with me, which will be incredible, he is not a music fan, but I'VE GOT A FEELING he will never forget this. Anyway does anyone have any food or tourist suggestions to make this the best weekend ever, This weekend is going to hurt the pockets a bit, but when I will be able to afford it I wont have this opportunity to see a Paul concert again so screw it!!! It's so close yet so far. Bring on any suggestions if you know the area, idd really APPRECIATE it, I'm FLYING all the way from NEW York ..................................................................................................................................................... (7/14/09) Ed Sullivan Theatre Roof (NYC) (Was a total surprise, I just showed up to get a glimpse of Paul) (7/18/09) Citi Field (Queens, NY) (I live in Queens and a a loyal Mets fan) (7/12/13) Nationals Park (Washington DC (First Time in DC) (10/11/14) Smoothie King Center (First time seeing Paul indoors & First Time in NOLA)

I'm from the area...are you staying in the French Quarter/Downtown area? Your options will be wide open if you are. So much to see and do (and eat!). Lots of interesting history around the city, of course. Just walking through the FQ is great. The BEST food in the world can be found in NOLA, I promise! Plenty of sites for party people, but plenty for families, too. And the weather should be decent, temperature-wise (finally cools off a bit in October). You and your dad should have a wonderful trip

Still wondering if there's anything going on before or after. Will be flying in in the early afternoon, and not leaving until Sunday AM...
-
Are there any city-specific songs that you think he might trot out for next week? PS I've seen him 4 times now; hoping to at least get "I Saw Her Standing There." I've been stuck with Get Back all 4 times!

Wouldn't this one be cool? I believe they recorded this in New Orleans. It is promoting the new archive releases...so who knows. I doubt it but :
