What does everyone make of the demos of "now and then " and "grow old with me" having been marked with the words "For Paul" in John's handwriting? MCLennon fans will say that the songs are about John's love for Paul. Others might say he wanted to work with PAul again and was saving these for Paul to help with. Did he want Paul to record them? I'm kind of fascinated by this tid bit.

Or is it all an Internet rumor and it was really Yoko or someone else who wrote "for Paul" ?

Hi prudence1964, I don't know if it is a rumor, but I heard this info as well. I always thought that John was saving those songs to show Paul (maybe a collaboration??), since there have been some rumors that John may have eventually worked with Paul again in the future (nothing specific, but people in John's circle, like Jack Douglas, have hinted that John was open to working with Paul again).

That always sounded like a too good to be true urban legend, but I think it was in one of the Beatle books that came out in the last few years. (That wouldn't make it true, of course.) Would love to hear more info on it if there were any truth to it though. I think Jack Douglas hinted at this, and it would make the most sense: the best chance for a Lennon/McCartney reunion would have been to write something for Ringo. That's the kind of thing that could have happened it the '80's. Sadly, we'll never know.
