The Beatles Mentioned on TV

On an episode of the game show "Common Knowledge" (hosted by 'N Sync member Joey Fatone) The question was:
If you're learning how to do a "Harold" what kind of class are you in:
A. Sewing. B. Improv. C. Glass blowing
The answer was B. Improv. Joey explained that "Harold" is a long form improv format that gets its name from a joke in The Beatles movie "A Hard Day's Night."
I think maybe they were referring to the "What do you call that haircut?" and George says "Arthur." joke. I can't think of a time anyone says "Harold" in the movie, can any of you?

The only 'Harold' or perhaps 'Harrold' that I can associate with the Beatles is the village that Paul visited in 1968. However, actor Wilfred Brambell appears in A Hard Days NIght. He is best known in the UK for playing Albert Steptoe in the BBC comedy series, Steptoe and Son. The 'son' in the series was called Harold. So did any of the Beatles slip in a 'Harold' joke? Unlikely I would have thought.

I agree. I think they just changed the name from Arthur to Harold for some reason. Weird.

On tonight's episode of This Is Us, Rebecca the mom is out with daughter Kate and her boyfriend Marc. (they are about 16)
Marc: We should go to that cabin you're always talking about!
Rebecca: Our family cabin? We haven't even opened it up yet.
Kate: We can open it!
Marc: I love it - our own Shangri-La like Yoko and John!

On Modern Family: They were all in Paris and Cam was dressed like his clown persona Fizbo. He ran into a French clown dressed exactly like him and they got into a fight because Cam thought the guy stole his clown suit idea. The French clown hit him over the head with a book. Cam grabs it and reads the title "The Clowns of Europe! I got this when I was a teenager! It was my Sgt. Pepper's!"

On the 19th, The Goldbergs was about the mom having a cookbook published and she was really excited about it. Her son said "She thinks she's The Beatles!" (or something like that - I deleted it before I got the exact quote)
Then also last night on the series finale of Criminal Minds (episode titled "And In The End") Penelope, at their farewell party, says "My favorite band says The Love You Take Is Equal To The Love You Make." They all toast her with champagne and hug each other. As soon as I saw the title I knew there would be a Beatles reference. The one character, Rossi, is supposedly friends with Ringo and was always making Beatles references!
-
Watched the movie "The Two Popes" on Netflix (Anthony Hopkins & Jonathan Pryce) and Price's character starts talking about Abbey Road and the Beatles to Hopkins' Pope character! "The Beatles, Abbey Road. Abbey, like a church! Eleanor Rigby! Yellow Submarine!"
(cracked me up!)
P.S. My mom just read the Stephen King book, Revival, and said there were 4 references to the Beatles in it! -
On SEAL Team last night they were in Afghanistan trying to make peace with the Taliban. The one guy was skeptical and the other one said "Maybe they just want to Give Peace A Chance."
-
On a segment of Entertainment Tonight today, Justin Timberlake was wearing a Rubber Soul t-shirt.
-
On American Dad May 4th, Roger ends up in jail and calls to get bailed out. He says, I'm in a bit of a bind. To quote The Beatles, "Help, I need Stan's body!"
-
On the season finale of Outlander, which in case you don't know is a time travel story, this man asks Claire (who previously had traveled from 1968 to the late 1700s) "Does the name Ringo Starr mean anything to you?" She answers, "He's a drummer" realizing that the man is also a time traveler.
-
On American Housewife, the dad is talking to his wife about their youngest daughter who has started to give them one word answers and doesn't want to interact with them: "So, she's officially a tween. I hate the yelling, but I do enjoy the part where they think they've discovered The Beatles."
-
On the Red Nose Day special the other day, Ray Romano showed videos of his kids from 25 years ago and at the end of it playing was "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
-
On Bill Maher's show, his one guest was a nutritionist Dr. Cate Shanahan. She talked about eating better to build up your immune system during the Covid-19 pandemic. At the end of her interview she said "We're taking a sad song and making it better."

On the new To Tell The Truth, they revealed that one of the 2 remaining imposters was named Harry Potter and the panel had to guess which one. Someone asked the older guy what was his middle name and he said Lane. Thomas Lennon says "As in the famous Beatles song, Harry Lane!"

Watching the film That'll be the day at the moment, from 1973. It contains the best acting ever from any Beatle. Sir Ringo is so believable, recreating part of his pre-Beatle life as a holiday camp attendant.
