Collecting Beatles Memorabilia!

Information I received from auction house: Joanne We do ask that bidders ask any questions on an item before bidding and especially before the close of the auction. As you may imagine it is disruptive to the consignor and the underbidders when the winning bid is not redeemed. However, we do see that the 1974 date was when John Lennon was fighting to stay in the US - so we understand your question and that you would like to get another opinion. As to additional information, I am afraid all we have is that which was included in the description however it may be that we have taken the wrong date, the original owner had a faulty memory ? or they felt that 1974 was a more important year. Most importantly the item has been reviewed by Roger Epperson of REAL ? an independent third party authenticator. We would ask that we hear within the next 24 hours so that we may approach the underbidder accordingly. Many thanks Kay Burris Operations Manager R&R Enterprises ...I hope I hear from Frank Caiazzo within the next 24 hours????

Jo, If you havn't already send an email to Frank explaining your problem and ask him if he can just give you a straight yes or no for now as you need to close the deal as such. As you know I'm far from an expert and John signatures are my weakest link (Sorry) ops: From the small picture you have posted it seems to look ok but from a picture this small its hard to tell and John was so inconsistant in his signing style , as regards to the dates and time of flight it is very possible that the seller has got the dates/years mixed up. I'm sure Frank will put to right soon, I will keep everything crossed for you
-
It wasn't so much that John wouldn't leave the country in 74. He and Yoko WEREN'T EVEN TOGETHER AT THIS TIME. John was in LA partying on his "Lost Weekend" with May Pang from approx late 73 until early 75. Joanne keep your chin up until you hear from Frank. Maybe the orig owner got the year wrong. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Steve I want to thank you for your comments and input....this is a legitimate auction house and looking further into the autographs they look real to me...here's an image from the catalog. CLICK HERE FOR IMAGE i am also hoping that the consignor got the dates mixed up! I really hope to hear from Frank soon. I originally sent Frank an email asking for a COA to go with the autograph; but after liz's comments (btw THANK YOU LIZ) i went further on to say that the timeframe of the autograph is questionable and asked for his opinion in the matter. Since he has aol as do i, he read my email at 4:59pm yesterday, but as yet, i haven't heard from him. Maybe he doesn't want to get involved!...i don't want to hassle him by sending another email. Time is running out and the autograph really does look authentic. maybe i should also email perry cox???? and tell him about the situation.

yes christine, after liz's comments, i searched further and found out that john & yoko came to this country on september 3, 1971....never to return!......and the fact that john was fighting INS because his visa expired and wanted to get a green card...and yes, about his "lost weekend" for 18 months????....and i'm wondering about the Beatles dissolvement in january 1975...did he go back for that?????....but then again i thought, he couldn't have since he didn't get his green card until october 1975. (please don't quote me on the dates)....i was just looking deeper into the situation. so christine i did email frank, and as i mentioned to steve he read my email 4:59pm yesterday....and in my email to frank, i also included the above email the auction house sent me...so frank is aware of the timeframe i have left...i really hope he gets back to me real soon...cuz they're gonna give the auction lot to the underbidder if i don't snap up this autograph.

OMG OMG I SPOKE TOO SOON......I GOT AN EMAIL FROM FRANK!!!! Here's his email: "Hello Joanne, Congratulations on your new addition. You bought it right and got a good deal - a John Lennon signature as nice as yours should be at least $3,000. I will appraise it at $3,500. The cost for the paperwork will be $150. As far as the vintage of the signature(s), R&R was off by a few years actually. I would put the signature at 1969, shortly after they were married - in fact Yoko signed as 'Yoko Ono Lennon' for only a short while, and then dropped the 'Lennon'. Best Regards, Frank" I am sooooo happy... ....I just emailed him back and thanked him and told him i was sorry i put him in the middle of the situation. Hey, I just realized he charged me $25 more than the last time. ...i guess that's inflation!...or maybe considering the fact he had to do a little investigating himself. Now to snap up my autograph!!!....THANK YOU LIZ, STEVE, & CHRISTINE for your help! ...now the excitement is back...i'm happy again!

I'm happy for you Joanne. Wow I just got to thinking... Caught the early plane back to London. Fifty acorns tied in a sack. The men from the press said, "We wish you success, It's good to have the both of you back". This could have been signed by them while they were bopping all over after they got married!!!! Hair Peace Bed Peace!!! Wow!! Joanne this is awesome!! Very Cool!!
-

Jo, I'm delighted for you, as you know I love the Lennon 70's signatures and I'm sure one day I will own one. Just to let you know Frank's charge increases as the item rises in value, so as he will be appaising this at $3500 his charge go's up acordingly, I think its a mimimun of $125 or something like 5% of the value. So if he was to appraise my signed album pages at $10000 I would have to pay $500 for the letter I think I will stick with my Tracks letter for the time being. As you know for $500 I can normally pick up a signed item or 2 lol. Take care and well done! Steve
-
I'm delighted, too, ((((((Jo))))))! And I would also like to apologize for the fuss! ops:
-
It was 20th March 1969 the John and Yoko married, so I'm sure with a bit of research you may be able to find the exact signing date
-
A good place to find Beatles collectables are at antiques shoppes in small towns or especially shoppes that have like multiple dealers inside one building.

Thanks again ((((steve)))). ..I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! ...i can't believe frank estimated the autograph at $3,500!!!! . ..he told me i got a good deal!!! ...hey thanks for the heads up on his prices!!!..i didn't know that!!! ...yeah with TRACKS COA, you really don't need franks...especially with the price he would charge! ...when his new site opens up, i wonder what they will charge me to estimate the value of my jacket!
