We love Abe !!!

Watching Paul's outstanding Kiev show on the 'Net. Something apparently malfunctioned with Paul's guitar, and he'd motioned for a tech to bring him his Les Paul during the "The End" jam. Until Paul had a guitar in-hand again, Abe had to, more or less, stall -- and he played an extra-long drum-break -- and it rocked! This is why I wish more of these shows were released on DVD; those are the moments I love!

I remember one incident that Wix described one time from the 89/90 tour (wish I had seen it) where the song 'The End' was coming up to that piano conclusion and he had the 'wrong' sound programed in his keyboard so that it sounding like some big orchestral sound...He said he was shocked himself, but could see Paul and Linda look over at him with bemused looks on their faces...But the audience lapped it up anyway and loved it

I've read about this incident here once in this thread. Must have been so funny. I also saw that long drum solo in the Kiev gig on dvd but didn't realise why it was... that show was so funny with funny mistakes. I wish I could have made it there too.

I was at the Kiev show and was pretty far back just enjoying the music, barely even looking at the screens so when it came up we didnt know anything was wrong but it was just one very long solo which was incredible...really enjoyed it

Paul told that story in the tour program for the '93 New World Tour, and I've been dying to hear that footage ever since!

The Kiev show, by the way, was the best performance of "Ms Vandebilt" to date, as well.

I wonder if Paul threw in an extra ''grand'' on Abe's pay-check that night.

I wonder how much each band member makes a night? I wonder if they all rake in the same amount ....or if Paul gets one of those money machine air booth things and they each get a minute to get as much money as they can

Nah... that's the James Brown method.
