I posted a thread about people saying Paul should retire a month or two ago and I remember complaining about Paul saying Paul isn't as good as Lennon etc. I think the reason Paul gets hated is because of his looks, talent and good family life. People also think he write silly Love Songs and is a sell out. Even John called Paul's music crap including Rocky Raccoon and Obladi Oblada. This might be silly but do you think Paul will have as big an impact as John did? I also think some people consider Paul old and outdated and a sissy. What do you think? Will he ever get as respected as John and George? I know John and George are dead that has elevated them but people think even when they were alive they were cool.

Name calling's a no no. Some just get fed up with reading trash talk about Macca and restrain themselves, but then suddenly have to say something. Being famous is a drag, to be talked about badly so much. In that sense. Ironic but even the non-famous can get insulted and disparaged online, even by people who don't really know them at all. Which shows how bright the trash talkers are. I've read bad stuff online about me and just laughed at it all. It's amusing. That's right, someone provides me with chunks of posts about me, I've read a lot of it and laughed every time. Getting name called in those other sites by those who complain about name calling here--that's ironic too! I don't know if Paul is able to laugh every time. Sometimes he might feel hurt, which is bothersome, to visualize him with hurt feelings after all he's given to fans

Mostly I find it's people who don't really know much about The Beatles that tout the "Paul not as good as John" rhetoric (Paul and John equally talented and excellent in my view) or even non fans. I always take those Beatles fans who express this opinion seriously if they can back up what they say. Anyway, Pauls new album will shut a lot of those people up.

When John was alive was he as respected as he is now or did he get the same treatment Paul gets now? I was too young when he was alive to remember.

John was always the bad boy ever since the "Beatles are bigger than Jesus" remark in '66. I think the press and some DJ's vilified him over that and the Yoko/Bed-Ins/Peace stuff more than the fans. Our parents probably mostly thought he was nuts, but the young people (me included) thought he was so cool and followed his every move. Now mind you, I wasn't crazy about Yoko back then (still really don't care for her) but since John apparently loved her, I guess I tolerated her. But I digress. Was he respected? Not the same as he is now since he was tragically murdered. Some people act like he was bigger than Jesus! But we all know they were!

sir paul's talents are unquestionable. yes, he wrote "silly love songs," so what? i enjoy listening to it. writing serious or profound songs isn't always a good thing. sometimes you have to write light/happy songs.

I wonder if his solo music was ever vilified though? It does seem like in death people become larger than life. look at Michael Jackson who before he died was accused of child molestation and called Wacko Jacko and when he died everyone started loving him again. I am not a Yoko fan either but I don't blame her for the way John was. John himself didn't like alot of the Beatles music including his own. Did the Beatles fans and others start not liking him as much as they Paul? I have heard that the older generation didn't like the Beatles because of the their long hair. I wasn't alive back then so I know just what I heard. A friend of mine has told me his dad thought the Beatles were long haired bums. I told my friend that the Beatles are our long haired bums. I don't think either one of them would have been as great on their own. Without John Paul maybe have beomce like Billy Joel or Elton Johna nd Without Paul John maybe have been seens as a troublemaker. Thank Goodnes for both John and Paul!

No, I think no matter what John said or did, he still had millions of fans (before his death) But some of his solo (early) stuff wasn't really liked, such as his Sometime In New York City album and his wacky experimental stuff with Yoko of course (Two Virgins, Life With The Lions) Funny thing is, I have it all! Even his Wedding Album album!

nah don't do that, its all good. I understood where you were coming from. I think the obvious point is though that anyone who thinks Paul is unskilled lyrically, or is a 'sissy' for any reason, just doesn't know what is up at all. I personally don't see how anyone could not like Paul's music, but thats just me. not liking Paul is ludicris!

its like trying to catch the sun on the water..

I do feel that Paul has gotten the sort end of the stick from critics and even Beatles fans alike and John has been elevated. John deserves all the respect eht gets but I don't feel that they need to put Paul down to elevate John. I apologize if you think I misunderstood you.
