Remember how Paul said he saw the sheet music for this song and not knowing how to read music, just made up his own tune and used most of the original lyrics? Well, I was watching the show Salem and one of the female characters sings the original song/tune and lyrics to another woman! I meant to copy down the lyrics she sings, but accidentally deleted the show, so I'm re-recording it Sunday when it repeats on WGN at 12 am. It will also be shown Tuesday 12/20 at 1 am if anyone is interested.

I was reading Dekker's biography and wonder if maybe Paul was read his poems or someone sang the tunes to him as a child?

Paul said in an interview that he saw the words put to music (saw the sheet music I mean) but since he can't read music, he made up his own tune (and obviously changed the words some) This was when he was an adult (I would assume sometime in 1969), not a child. I guess you didn't read my original post.

In the 1965-66 season of the Andy Griffith Show, an episode had a plot about a baby who wouldn't stop crying. In the last scene, Andy's girlfriend, Helen, holds the baby and sings what sounds like the Golden Slumbers song.

I read it. After further investigation I found that if the lullaby was written in 1603, and set to sheet music by Peter Heseltine a.k.a. Peter Warlock, (who was a warlock) in 1918, I am sure a lot of children had heard that song as very young children. I read that as we know Thomas Dekker, nor Peter Warlock were given any credits for the poem lullaby on Abbey Road. ð??¶ Found the song:
