Beatles Sons and Daughters Picture Thread

No worries moptops, i still like yer
I would still like to hear what the others on this forum think of my point though, as it's got missed.. Anyone agree that the press in particular, and also the fans, wouldn't be so damning if it was one of Paul's daughters who had gotten bigger in their 30s after slim 20s.. See my bits in bold below.

That pic of Jim Bob wearing a suit, on the steps...why is he holding a taco?
You nut! That is a cone filled with white rose petals! http://cdn.blogs.sheknows.com/thewire.sheknows.com/2011/10/paul-mccartney-nancy-shevell.jpg
Yeah and edible ones I"ll wager!
If it was Mary who had gotten fat in her 30s would you still be picking at her making jokes all the time in a bit of cyber bullying? (ok James doesn't read this, but the joke is getting old..). Still true though - if any of Paul's daughters had a weight problem, would people in the public eye all over be as mean? No. Give the shy lad a break. Then maybe one day he'd get the confidence to care again what he looks like. Anyway, don't want to fight, just got fed up of double standards of it's ok to constantly call a man a bloater but if anyone called a woman that you'd get accused of causing body issues and supporting anorexia! .

^^ I agree. Body shaming is a form of bullying and males and females are equally affected by such behavior. If someone is speaking negatively about another's appearence I would wonder if they have body image insecurities of their own they need to resolve. Or just mean spirited. I don't think there is any other excuse for a person making fun of another's perceived physical deficiencies. Before someone makes fun of another person do they look in the mirror first? That would be a good idea.

I am of the mind that sadly the girls would be just as ridiculed if in the same position.
People would be just as mean, and it happens all the time to both male and females. It is too easy for some folks to hide behind a computer to ridicule others about their appearances or weight and this includes the press.

There just actually were some pics of Stella taken under the wrong lighting & they posted them as if she had had work done. (She did indeed look terrible) So yes, it is done to women too but more maybe for plastic surgery. (I don't want to waste my time looking for the terrible pics of her just to post here)

I saw that one not too long ago and thought, "Oh, no! She didn't. She is so naturally pretty!"

Hmm yeah i know the article you mean, but, that was the daily mail - and they despise Paul yet fill their pages with him, so you can't count them
(He even pulled a face in liverpool when he sang "daily mail" in paperback writer last year!). I don't see fans having a go at the girls though the way they do James, be it weight for him or anything for them. Brit press seem to be nice to overweight famous women nowadays, such as Adele, Dawn French, etc etc, but overweight men don't get the same treatment. Though press do have a go at wrinkles, plastic surgery and all of that for women. No ones saying James isn't far too big... but he probably knows it too, he was thin til his 30s, the constant referal by fans as "fat boy" etc just seem a bit off to me, my point is if Mary was big you would not get fans calling her a "fatty" in forums.

[quote="moptops"][quote="Nancy R"][quote="oobu24"] Wow! I've never seen a pic of Julian with facial hair! ...or the top half of his head missing! lol He's obviously followed through with his father's suggestion to Paul that they undergo trepanning!
-
You guys are nuts!
And I'm an O.R. nurse so I know what trepanning is! P.S. John Lennon was the worst in the early days making fun of "cripples."

Yoko posted a nice message about how much David Bowie helped Sean http://imaginepeace.com/archives/21641?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter "After John died, David was always there for Sean and me. When Sean was at boarding school in Switzerland, David would pick him up and take him on trips to museums and let Sean hang out at his recording studio in Geneva."
-
Yes Bowie leaving us was a shock (although he'd had many health issues.)

Stella about Bowie... The man who fell to earth, became a star and left us holding him in our hearts. He inspired me from the first time I dreamt and still inspires me as I sleep... Thank you for being you, David, my heart goes out to Iman and the kids whom I love dearly X Stella Julian to Bowie... Missing the Alien... R.I.P. Dear David... So very saddened by this news... One of My all time Heros... A truly original musical genius like no other... Thank you for the moments we shared... I don't know what else to say.... except My thoughts & prayers are with his family & friends at this very, very sad time..... Say Hi to Mum & Dad for me.... Crying Only with LOVE... heart emoticon x
