OK, I've got page 1 of the David Lynch concert pix up on MaccaLand. Check 'em out! Wish me luck on my knee meniscus surgery tomorrow morning.
Great pictures, Maggie! We loved seeing them! Thanks so much for posting! So glad to learn that your surgery went well.

What a great night - very special! Other than P&R, my favorite performance was, "Under Pressure." Contrary to some of the reviews, I thought the night flew by - I didn't sense the crowd becoming impatient, just anticipatory. "With A Little Help From My Friends" reallly sums up the night. I bought the posters - the story I was given was that it was signed by RINGO AND I didn't really believe that, so I wasn't disappointed...although it is such a scrawl, it could be almost anyone's name. Bought some tshirts too.

Hi all, I just got home from the most magical NYC weekend--I'm sorry to add yet one more story about the concert, especially when so many others have done an amazing job of recapping the events! *The top moment of the concert, non-Ringo and Paul-related, was Eddie Veder and Ben Harper singing "Under Pressure"--it was well done, and a great way to get psyched up for the mad dash to the bathrooms during the 10 minute intermission. *After "Yellow Submarine" was over, a gentleman turned to those of us around him and said that we had just had the unique experience of a 6,000 person karaoke event. *A little girl, no more than 9, was sitting next to me in the first mezzanine while her parents were scattered about the second and third mezzanine. When Paul came on , she was one of the loudest people there. She was standing, belting out Wings and Paul's solo work, at the top of her lungs, along with the rest of us Paul fanatics--very cool to see! *Crowd energy in the first mezzanine where I was couldn't have been more off the charts. A four hour concert, minus David Lynch and Laura Dern's somewhat painful Q & A sessions, felt like it lasted no longer than one hour because of the amazing performances. Poor Donovan sounded a bit off, but his energy was contagious. (My sister and I wound up walking behind him the next a.m. for about a block--he's a spry, shorter man, for sure!) *On Sunday, while heading to Strawberry Fields in Central Park, my sister and I stopped to ride the carrousel. As the horses were moving around and around, up and down, what song should be played over the loudspeakers? "Obladi Oblida"! We laughed and sang along at the top of our lungs. Then we met a woman from Holland in the park and talked about Beatles memories with her, as well. This concert was THE best one I've ever been to, bar none, and will be one that I will never, ever forget (mostly because I used up four memory cards on it!). I'll be posting the photos on my myspace this week some time, and will post a link to it when they go up. P.S. If the woman who was wearing the top hat with MACCA in silver letters on it is a board member, I wanted to compliment the very cool headwear!
Hiya Walliebaby- that was ME in the Black hat, with the silver letters, across it...having a wild goodtime.... That was Me~ that was me in the blackcoat, rawkin it out in the 15th row, singing and Dancing to- Paul McCartney & Ringo~~~

Ringo's never been a strong singer.... and he's often off-key. But it's usually at least passable. I've seen several of Ringo's All-Starr band tours, and he does alright. But after watching clips all the clips from last night, Ringo sounded really bad. If they do indeed release the show as a live album or a DVD, I wonder if Ringo will be able to re-record his vocal track.
Yes, he sounded bad, but does that matter really?
It matters in the sense that I mentioned.... a potential DVD release could technically be thwarted due to Ringo's sour vocals. I don't know if they would want to put that out there, as is.
There's lots of DVD with poor vocals and no-one expect perfection from Ringo anyway.
There's a big difference between Ringo's usual typical live vocals.... and the vocals he displayed at Radio City. Yes, no one expects perfection from Ringo. But was time was almost embarrassing. Hopefully in post-production, they can separate the vocals from the music, and have Ringo come to a studio and record a new part (sorta like what Paul did for the Live Aid DVD.... though that was a little different, since his vocals were missing in the first place)
He probably doesn't have to re-record anything. His performance is nothing that Auto-Tune or Melodyne can't fix.

How freakin funny!! orchestra 2 row pp...we were there in that section.... boardies in the same freakin row without knowing it! put of the 6000 plus persons we were in the same row?

Yeah I saw the guy kicked out (I was in 203) so the pix I took were close to your vantage point. A friend of mine was a couple rows behind you on that end of the row and they were happy the guy was ejected.

I was at the show, but haven't had a chance to write, only time to read - and I've read all the pages. I can't put into words how great Paul sounded, and looked, and what a thrill it was for me to see Paul and Ringo perform together!!! Harleyblues, if I had known that was you with the hat, I would've introduced myself. I PMed you for a ticket a few weeks ago, buy couldn't afford the high price seat. You looked so cool, that I thought you were unapproachable. lol So Friday I still had no ticket, and saw an auction on ebay, that said it ended on April 5! - a day after the concert! There was a note though, that said auction ended noon on April 4. After many emails with seller I decided to bid and won. There were very few bids, because it actually sounded like something wasn't kosher. The seat was Orch 5, Row C. I paid under face value. When I picked up my ticket from the seller, I asked how she got it, and her friend with her, told me that she is a "friend of George Harrison's widow." I asked if we were sitting with Olivia, and was told that Olivia was sitting a few rows closer. Turns out my ticket was a comp with no price on it. I love to get to a concert early and watch who is coming in. First person I recognized was the promoter from Beatlefest, Mark Lapidus, then I saw Mark Hudson. I think Liv Tyler, or else someone who looks like her, was sitting across the aisle from me. She had a 6 month old on her lap wearing headphones. Next I guess I was daydreaming, when a man walked past me. I came out of my daze to realize it was "Wicks". He was sitting with a girl about 10 years old a few rows ahead of me until after intermission, when he went backstage. Now everyone I started seeing was looking like someone famous to me! I walked close to the stage, but most of the seats were still empty. As the lights dimmed Howard Stern was seated ahead and to the right of me. I enjoyed some of the performers and speeches, and others not, but took the whole night as an experience, and just took it all in. At intermission I decided to see how far forward I could walk, and no one stopped me. Was I surprised as I was strolling down the aisle, talking on my cell phone, when Nancy Shevell was in my face. I turned my back and said into the phone, Nancy, Nancy Shevell!!! She was standing talking to another woman, so I parked my butt on the nearest arm of a seat and hung out for awhile. I think she is adorable and normal and regular, and I mean that in the nicest way. I got up and decided to go closer to the stage, when Nancy started walking and we accidentally bumped into each other. A few rows closer and I heard the word Yoko spoken. Looked to my right and there were Yoko, in a white cap and Olivia sitting next to each other, with guards around them. They were not talking to anyone. That was some intermission, and now for Ringo and PAUL time! I knew that I wouldn't be happy unless I got a close up look at Paul and Ringo together, but knew that my timing had to be right, meaning not too soon, so I don't get caught walking up, and get thrown out! Right after Paul said "Billy Shears", I left my seat, and walked forward. There were people in the aisle, so I thought I was safe, but a large, female, scary guard pointed her finger at me and said, "Go back to your seat." I pretended I didn't think she was talking to me, but she said it again in my face. So I was going, walking backwards, not to miss anything, when 2 rows back some nice young man, said come in here. I was now in about the 15th row from the stage for the last 3 numbers. What a nice guy, and it turns out that he works as a producer for David Lynch TV. He said at the end that he was happy to have someone next to him to have fun and sing and dance with. Last funny story, I promise, there was a large man with a badge who was standing in the aisle next to me during those last 3 numbers. He started to talk to me after the show. He said that he was in charge of watching Ringo's wife, but he lost her! I said I knew what Barbara looks like, but I hadn't seen at all. I told him I knew where Yoko and Olivia were! How funny? Anyway, great night, great time. Thanks for reading!

PodgeTheBear:
Curiouser, and curiouser...my life is. Okay, so bizarre things tend to happen to me. Actually, many bizarre things tend to happen to me, in my following of The Beatles...and Paul. For instance there was the ticket fiasco with the Highline that I was responsible for although accidently...how did I know that the link I posted that said that the show was sold out, would all of a sudden become live a few days before ticket sales. As a result alot of forum members (and friends) benifited...a good thing in my book. Or the time in the Peradventure thread where I had a parody of Star Trek with Paul holding a newspaper reading "Red Sox World Series" with my comment that it must be far in the future...how did I know they would win the world series that year?! Am I responsible? I think so! I do know that I can control the weather...yup, me and a tent guarantees monsoon rain! I can stop a drought anywhere in the world. Although, they would soon be wanting to inflict bodily harm for the following extreme flooding. There are many more bizarrities, those are just a few. Then this weekend! I had the most terrific time ever!!!!!! Most unbelievable!!! I got tickets to the RCMH backdoor tour, only $18.50. I had done the tour before, and it is interesting the history and style and stories. Figuring that maybe we would get a glimse of the stage setup and work going on, it was worth a shot. What is funny is that I bought the tickets...and accidentally put in 11am. They run every half hour from 10 to about 3. When I bought the ticket it came up as 11am, and I didn't notice that there was a drop down menu for the other times. My bestist friends, instead of calling me The Blockhead, that I am, got tickets to do the tour with me. There were some other friends whom I think were probably laughing, as they booked for 1 pm and 2pm. What happens? Our timing could not have been the greatest ever!!!!! As we were going around the tour, you could clearing hear Paul singing..."Jet", "Can't Buy Me Love", some jam we couldn't quite make out, etc. I thought at first it was a recording to check the sound. Anyway, the tour was great, but at one point they let you go into this observation room way at the top of the RCMH, the small room has a huge glass window overlooking the whole place, with HD flatscreens on the walls on both sides of the window. They told us no video or photography. As we walked in, what is on stage?!!!! Paul and Ringo center stage, sharing the same microphone, singing "With A Little Help From My Friends!" OMG!!!! They let us stay about 7-8 minutes I would guess...for the complete song!!! As we were walking out we watched Ringo go up on his drums. Then we were able to hear Paul singing, while Ringo played drums "Cosmically Conscience" a long version, very accapella (unlike the evening version)...it was awesome!!!! We ended our tour, went outside and around the side and at the side door heard "I Saw Her Standing There". The group after us was a school group of teenagers or young college age...as they came out we heard a group of girls screaming, and asked what song they saw, they said they saw Paul sing "Blackbird"...we told them we saw Paul and Ringo, and they almost fainted, they were screaming for us!!! It was the most unbelievable experience of my life, and soooo surreal, if I didn't have my best friends with me I would have sworn I dreamt it or was hallucinating!!! We were all knocked out, and couldn't believe our timing!!!! The luckiest Beatle fans in the world at that moment!!! To see what we saw going on, in an empty venue!!! People would have paid a fortune to witness what we saw for $18.50!!! Just another bizarre peradventure in the world of Podgie. Do strange things happen to me... Podgie (yes, they do!) Monkey
You darling Monkey, I was so glad I could dream this weekend with you, Paul & Ringo all together. It was really absolutly great!!!!

Just saw this in the news, and wanted to pass it on to those who as of yet hadn't seen it "The eclectic audience included Yoko Ono, Martin Scorsese, John McEnroe, Jennifer Aniston and Bill O'Reilly." I didn't see any of them, but I did, unknowingly, stand next to HarleyBlues at the merchandise table as the scrum was moving and pulsating toward the cashiers. ) Oh, and yes, I did notice that the floor was vibrating on the first mezzanine during Ringo and Paul's sets--my pictures are mostly blurry because I couldn't physically stand still because of the jiggling floor. Good to know so many board members were there! ) lol

Well it's official....everyone is looking for the roof of RCMH It is still difficult for me to leave my seat mentally! I sat in Orchestra section 6 Row O seat 607. Even at that I has a great view. Anybody else near there or were you all lucky to be able to see up closer and more personally these wonderful people? Does anyone know where I can find a full set list that covers all the contributors to the cause? I am finally able to write after 2 days of pure bliss.....which as per previous experience when I have seen Paul lasts for months....but now with all of this to have been permanently infused I am likely good for a lot longer than that...being a hippie chick....the whole night was like a trip without drugs..WOW. I totally had a paradigm shift happen Saturday night..I am forever changed. It is very trippy in a good and non chemically induced way. So many things invoked eternal song in my heart and the deep recessess of my inner self. But as Paul said Saturday... I digress. May I say it was as Jimi would have said....an experience. Love is it. That is the way. It's in us all....hooray. I floated around NYC all day Sunday took the train home finally at dusk...and as I sat in my seat on Metro North watching the Hudson River turn gold and orange...I closed my eyes and found a quiet place and made up a mantra...and began to find to my suprise and delight, the change that begins within....it's goin' on.
