Curiouser, and curiouser...my life is. Okay, so bizarre things tend to happen to me. Actually, many bizarre things tend to happen to me, in my following of The Beatles...and Paul. For instance there was the ticket fiasco with the Highline that I was responsible for although accidently...how did I know that the link I posted that said that the show was sold out, would all of a sudden become live a few days before ticket sales. As a result alot of forum members (and friends) benifited...a good thing in my book. Or the time in the Peradventure thread where I had a parody of Star Trek with Paul holding a newspaper reading "Red Sox World Series" with my comment that it must be far in the future...how did I know they would win the world series that year?! Am I responsible? I think so! I do know that I can control the weather...yup, me and a tent guarantees monsoon rain! I can stop a drought anywhere in the world. Although, they would soon be wanting to inflict bodily harm for the following extreme flooding. There are many more bizarrities, those are just a few. Then this weekend! I had the most terrific time ever!!!!!! Most unbelievable!!! I got tickets to the RCMH backdoor tour, only $18.50. I had done the tour before, and it is interesting the history and style and stories. Figuring that maybe we would get a glimse of the stage setup and work going on, it was worth a shot. What is funny is that I bought the tickets...and accidentally put in 11am. They run every half hour from 10 to about 3. When I bought the ticket it came up as 11am, and I didn't notice that there was a drop down menu for the other times. My bestist friends, instead of calling me The Blockhead, that I am, got tickets to do the tour with me. There were some other friends whom I think were probably laughing, as they booked for 1 pm and 2pm. What happens? Our timing could not have been the greatest ever!!!!! As we were going around the tour, you could clearing hear Paul singing..."Jet", "Can't Buy Me Love", some jam we couldn't quite make out, etc. I thought at first it was a recording to check the sound. Anyway, the tour was great, but at one point they let you go into this observation room way at the top of the RCMH, the small room has a huge glass window overlooking the whole place, with HD flatscreens on the walls on both sides of the window. They told us no video or photography. As we walked in, what is on stage?!!!! Paul and Ringo center stage, sharing the same microphone, singing "With A Little Help From My Friends!" OMG!!!! They let us stay about 7-8 minutes I would guess...for the complete song!!! As we were walking out we watched Ringo go up on his drums. Then we were able to hear Paul singing, while Ringo played drums "Cosmically Conscience" a long version, very accapella (unlike the evening version)...it was awesome!!!! We ended our tour, went outside and around the side and at the side door heard "I Saw Her Standing There". The group after us was a school group of teenagers or young college age...as they came out we heard a group of girls screaming, and asked what song they saw, they said they saw Paul sing "Blackbird"...we told them we saw Paul and Ringo, and they almost fainted, they were screaming for us!!! It was the most unbelievable experience of my life, and soooo surreal, if I didn't have my best friends with me I would have sworn I dreamt it or was hallucinating!!! We were all knocked out, and couldn't believe our timing!!!! The luckiest Beatle fans in the world at that moment!!! To see what we saw going on, in an empty venue!!! People would have paid a fortune to witness what we saw for $18.50!!! Just another bizarre peradventure in the world of Podgie. Do strange things happen to me... Podgie (yes, they do!) Monkey
Podgie, thank you for you wonderfull review.

Just got home. What a weekend! Took a train up to New York friday right after work. Got in my seat and noticed on the back of the chair in front of me, written in big block letters "All You Need Is Love". I laughed and thought to myself this is going to be one hell of a weekend. Got up Saturday morning and right after breakfast took a cab over to the Dakota. You could tell the Beatle fans were in town. Lots of people standing around with tears in their eyes, snapping pics. I then crossed the street and headed into the Strawberry Field section of Central Park. The park is beautiful. I can't believe it looks like that in the middle of New York City. No graffitti at all. On the way back to the hotel room I found 6th Ave closed down for the "Tartan Parade" or something like that. I've never seen so many pipe bands in my life. Was pretty cool! Headed over to Radio City about 5:30 PM. They made us line up on the side of the building which was annoying, but the place was beatiful when we got in and its definitely true theres not a bad seat in the house. I was really impressed with Eddie Vedder. I'll have to go get a few of his CD's. What a voice! Jerry Seinfeld was pretty funny and I usually don't care for his humor. Was busting on the NYC cabdrivers. He's right it was like a damm Nascar race from Penn Stattion to 57th Street. I got my wish and heard Paul introduce Ringo as Billy Shears and brake into "With A Little Help from my friends'. (Harley said she could hear me yelling up on the 1st mezzanie all the way down on the floor. : ) I won't re-hash the set list since everyone else has allready covered that. All I can say is that was incredible. I felt like I was in a Visa commercial. 2 nights in New York City- $500. 1st Mezz seat-$350. Seeing Ringo and Paul performing With A Little Help From My Friends _________________________________________________________ = PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I DID hear you screamin from up there you said "Paul" somethin?

Guardian UK At the end, the artists gathered on stage, Donovan danced, Crowe bothered a tambourine and Lynch, throwing a V-sign, said unsmilingly: "Peace." It was left to Macca, after he'd thanked the "David Lynch Association", to demonstrate the charm that wins hearts and starts movements. "Yeah, peace," he said, grinning. "And rock'n'roll."

Exactly. Paul and Ringo on the same stage is not a Beatles reunion, it`s just Paul and Ringo on the same stage.
Yes, but Paul and Ringo on the same stage is nothing to sniff at, especially for Beatles fans, who weren't alive until waaaaaaaaaay after the band broke up, and John was killed (like myself). As someone who was there, it was absolutely a dream come true to see them playing together in person. Someone wrote earlier that Paul played for an hour 15, he only played for roughly 45 minutes (including encores) (I looked at my watch when he started). Either way, it was fantastic! Also, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono were in the building (I didn't see them, but my sister saw it on the news). George was brought up a lot through out the night. It was a nice surprise and really touching (Sheryl Crow covered My Sweet Lord. It wasn't my favorite, but not a terrible cover). and Paul played "Here Today" so I'd like to think that they were there in spirit.

Ringo's never been a strong singer.... and he's often off-key. But it's usually at least passable. I've seen several of Ringo's All-Starr band tours, and he does alright. But after watching clips all the clips from last night, Ringo sounded really bad. If they do indeed release the show as a live album or a DVD, I wonder if Ringo will be able to re-record his vocal track.
Being there in person, I dont think Ringo sounded bad AT ALL. and this was my tenth time seeing him in concert. Maybe its because he is my favorite Beatle and I'm bias. And I'm convinced they will release it on dvd because its more money for the DLF and their cause. Its just a matter of securing the rights to the songs that were performed. All and all, a fantastic 4 hours, and a fantastic experience to see Paul and Ringo at the same mic.

1 if you decide to sing in a concert togheter with Ringo some beatles songs you know in advance that this will be felt by media as an half beatles reunion. You know that your performance will have space in all media of the world only for this reason. So It's not a simple night of joy. 2 if you decide to have this half reunion for a so strange charity concert about the diffusion of trascendental meditation you can expect some astonishment. 3 if you really decide to gain space in all media in this way you can't put Ringo to sing because you have to know in advance that the voice of Ringo espicially at 70 can't be so perfect. To sing in studio is very different than to sing live. 4 if you were youngster after seeing on tv news that performance would you find any interest in discovering the beatles, would you give any more chance to buy a paul or a Ringo album? 5 john and george would be happy for this half reunion? John would have sung with other three mates at 70 years old to promote trascendental meditation? Didn't he write a song on the white album against the maraishi? These are the points why i'm afraid for paul. I hope with all my heart he won't be criticized by media and lose all the favour he gained with his last albums.
Yoko...put the sake down.

podgeyouluckydogmonkey it couldnt have happened to a better person hopefully we shall meet up later this month in ca or nv

sounds like it was as good as expected. Its amazing how many off this board got tickets. Sounds like everyone really had fun including the artists. I bet Sheryl Crow was on cloud 9 being on stage with PM. Love to see her and Paul do something.

Morning all, nice to see so many attendees dropping in with their precious memories. Picking up on a couple of themes running here. The www.dlf.tv videocast includes an interview with the poster artist Shepard Fairey - the interview is at 2.40 in Part 1 of the videocast. It confirms the artist was responsible for the Obama poster and all proceeds from the sale go to the Foundation's work. The poster will shortly be available on-line through the Foundation web-site above, it also mentions "signed" - hopefully the sale site will clarify the nature of that signature to those for whom it is important. Just out of interest, demonstrating I watch too much TV, the style of the poster is inspired by the Art Nouveau movement with it's organic curvilinear border. Shepard Fairey was approached by Laura Dawn to design the poster. Laura Dawn is the link between the Change Begins Within and the Obama "Change" slogans - she acted as creative director for Move On influential in the Obama election campaign, and having seen that through to his election, moved on to support David Lynch with this campaign and composed the Change Begins Within slogan. You can see her interviewed in the www.dlf.tv stream replay 4.00 min into Part 2, where these links are explained. Whilst viewing that - slide the player along to the close, at 14.50 min you get to see the 3 minute black and white film footage of The Beatles in India which the web-cast host said was to be used to introduce Paul onto the stage at the DLF concert. Perhaps somebody can confirm the footage was actually used Saturday Night? Martin

It was indeed an incredible evening as everyone has already described. We were blessed to have gotten front row seats....an act of God, no doubt! It was really interesting that the concert included so many different people who might otherwise have little in common. Also, a friend was sitting a few rows away and mentioned that Michael J Fox was sitting in front of her with his family. We, too, were told that the "Change Begins Within" poster sold at RCMH was signed by Paul. They actually pointed that fact out to my daughter when they saw her, so of course she wanted the poster. I told them it seemed unbelievable that they would sell a poster signed by Paul for just $100, and they said that Paul did it just for the benefit. I even made them check with someone else and they came over and assured me it was "definitely signed by Paul McCartney." We will keep the poster anyway...it's a nice one. We have #40 of 600. Of course, the signature is not Paul's, but my daughter said, " Well maybe it is. After all he had 600 to sign. I would probably just scribble too if I had 600 to sign!" The only thing is, when we got home and took the poster out of the cardboard tube, it reeked of a chemical smell. Did anyone else have this?

it appears that the volenteers started at the top of the line with one is signed by paul and by the time it got to the end it was Oh Yes he signed this. I think Paul should offer to sign all 600 of the poster. There for a good cause and really how long would it take .. Even a scribble of Paul's is worth the 100 bucks. So everyone send your poster to MLP headquaters with a self addressed tube and tell paul to cough up.
