How much is Paul's booking fee?
-
How much longer do we have to debate on how much the band makes? It's their business, not ours!
-
I don't care how much they make. They are talented, accomplished musicians who have one of the coolest gigs on the planet!!

You just need to look at the massive beach front house Brian bought in Santa Monica after a few years playing with Paul...!
I've seen the photos, it is nice and all, but nothing indicates it is huge. And is it possible he has banked some cash to buy a house? Yes! You don't have to be a millionaire to live in Santa Monica.
You do to buy a house on the beach. They've been with him over ten years and played a couple hundred gigs, including some of the biggest concerts in history. That's longer than The Beatles recorded. I'm sure all his band are millionaires by now just from touring with Paul.

Does that make you feel better?

It's just out of curiosity. A couple of weeks ago the newspaper had a cover story devoted to what do they make. It listed all types of jobs...so yes, people are curious. I mean...I don't need to see their tax returns or anything...lol.

Curious is fine. But in the end, none of us really know. And we also don't know what they had or were making before they were in Paul's band. I suspect they do well, and if they manage their money, can live quite comfortably after Paul stops touring. But members of a band like Aerosmith or U2 make considerably more than McCartney's band, since they all get a bigger take of the gate for concerts, and merchandise (which is BIG bucks and McCartney's band gets none of that) as well as royalties from songwriting, CD sales, etc. (which Paul's band gets none of as well). I read that the members of Cheap Trick, not a huge band by any means, but a band with a history of hits and tons of touring, are worth about $10 million to $20 million each band member. There is NO WAY Paul's band members are anywhere near that wealthy for being his back up band for ten years. No way.

I have absolutely no idea of how much the band members are earning but i belive they are in it just for the money I mean, after 10 years of playing the same down songs it couldn't be for any artistic reason and moreover i never felt there was a particular feeling between them and Paul (expecially with Brian but this is just my impression and i may be very wrong) Not forgetting that touring with Paul could help selling their own music .. i admit i'd never have bought 'Born on Earth' if Rusty wasn't touring with Paul semply because i wouldn't know about him at all.

Yes. And the same could said for the musician's who back Elton John, Sting, Eric Clapton, etc. These are all SOLO artists who do not need to be in a band. McCartney has been in two bands: The Beatles and Wings. That is it. Since then, he has been a solo artist with a band that backs him up. And back up bands are not equals with the solo artist. They are hired hands. A great gig. It pays and yes you are in a high profile position. But people are buying the CDs and concert tickets to see the solo artist, not the back up band.

Very intresting thread! I am going to write down my opinion because I'm positive Audi wants to read it Each band member probably makes around 10/15 k per show and no way they will get any percentages because they're Paul's employees just like Pablo in the sound or Brian in security are. Regarding opening acts, in Argentina there was an Argentinean singer who sucked horribly and so did the boring-to-tears DJ. The problem with having any band members opening for Paul is that the main shows does not last 55 minutes like Elvis's concerts and I think Paul would like the band to keep their energy and focus for the 150/160 minute show. I'd love to see Rusty live, I think this CD is great:

Mark this day in your calendars, kids, because it's a minor miracle: I AGREE with javilu! They might make a bit more per show that what you wrote above, but there's no way in hell that they're getting a percentage. Paul's songs, Paul's show, Paul's not a stupid businessman.

No, we agree, it was at the Hall of Fame! I can't think straight, I'm too upset because of the announcement that negotiations fell off and Paul is not coming. Dammit.

Is that a for sure announcement? Or is it just a rumor?

Can you get to the other shows in SA, at least?

I can use my mileage to fly for free but I need money for hotels and stuff. I've been unemployed for the last 3 months

Damn...Who can you stay with while there? ETA: We've got enough SA members here that someone should be able to help you out with a place to stay!
