TOTALLY UNEXPECTED songs/moments @ McCartney concerts
-
in liverpool in 1990 it was quite a shock and surprise when he started singing 'strawberry fields' and merged into 'help' on piano and finishing with the tail end of 'give peace a chance'. i wasn't expecting that, probably more down to the no computer era than anything else but it was a beautiful shock. we sang the 'give peace a chance' chorus back to him when hed finished and forced him into a reprise!.im sure i remember him saying around the time that it was probably a 'career moment' that! im just glad i was there
-
Also "A day in the life". What a great surprise in Liveropool!

I other Rubber Soul classics deserve airtime.
Eh? There's only 2 Rubber Soul classics by Paul! Then again he could do In my life. It'd have made more sense to do that in Liverpool when debuted ADITL live.

You were there???????????????????

"From A Lover To A Friend" was a "one time only"...played at the Concert For New York City.

The US Tour in 2005 had several surprises...I'll Get You. Man, NEVER thought I'd hear that live...then when Too Many People segued into She Came in Through the Bathroom Window. THAT blew me away! Totally unexpected. I've Got A Feeling. WOW! Please Please Me in the encore...TOO MUCH! Then at Hollywood Bowl 2010 more surprises...Venus and Mars/Rock Show...OMG he DID it! Letting Go...BEAUTIFUL! Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five...another one I thought I'd never hear...UNBELIEVABLE! Day Tripper...OK I can DIE now! All because I did not look at the setlist before I went to either! For the US Tour I did not read any reviews, and I stayed away from all concert postings here for 2 months before I saw him in San Jose.

I was there, too, and was totally shocked. Yes, we forced him to keep on singing Give Peace A Chance.

I didn't want to know either, but I only had to wait until Toronto on October 10 and it was so hard. Twice the set list got emailed to me, so I did know the first couple of songs.

Its really hard now to hide from the setlist, its everywhere especially now that social networks have become such an important part of modern day life, nothing is kept hidden for to long

I'm looking through you was kind of a surprise as well because it was one of the few Beatles songs he never did. I was also quite shocked by Obladi oblada, did not see that one coming at all

"I'm Looking Through You" defintely surprised me. I'll add that one, for sure. I always knew that "Ob-la-di..." would make it to the setlist eventually (2009), so it wasn't that totally unexpected to me. But I'll add it, as well.

what about that Old Siam Sir in ?future? audi? I?d love him to play that, that song just kicks booty the more I think about it. They should play it big and heavy, right? Or actually however they want any one think it might show up in his set list? I would literally pee my pants if they started to play it. ok maybe not Say didn?t Paul do Please Please Me live? I think he did it at a show I was at : And I think I remember being shocked ! In a way I?m basically shocked by every song when I?m at the show, I never follow set lists, or go to enough shows where it even matters.. the only ones of his I?m not basically surprised hearing are Hey Jude, Live & Let Die, Get Back, Drive My Car perhaps. Yesterday, Blackbird are two more. All should be replaced by solo Paul rockers, perhaps leaving in Live & Let Die. and perhaps Hey Jude if you have to. I would drop it though.
-
Old Siam Sir Would be fantastic....I wish Too Many People was brought back in as more of a 'regualar'.
-
I am so grateful Paul randomly played Too many people in Quebec in 2008 because hearing that was bloody fantastic, I would love to hear it more often, I could live without she came in through the bathroom window being added to it

Done! I've added the only live version that I know of -- Wings' 1979 Glasgow perofrmance of it.
-
I added "Follow Me" to the 2004 section because it is rare for Paul to preview a track from an upcoming album.
-
Use this as an alternate 1985. OMG! It is sooo good to see Paul playing that piano AND to see Abe & Wix in the same shot for the whole song. Abe smiling at Paul so much. Paul McCartney - Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five live Arena Phoenix 3-28-10
