Paul McCartney has officially become an oldies act.

yes it does.

It really is annoying that people who have a strong opinion on the setlist, are seen as not proper fans and are abused for there point of view. I have supported Paul for 33 years and love him a lot,but that doesn't mean i agree with everything he does. He has always been one to move on and not stand still as a artist, and this should reflect his live material. He has a huge repertoire to choose from of well know songs, he should use it.

Listened to the show on the BBC and then watched it on TV. Wish I coulda been there. Yes, many of the songs I have heard before but how, how can you complain when Sir Paul performs Let it be??? One of the great songs of the universe. I wonder how the audience would have reacted if he had a set-list going like this: Zoo gang, party party, Momma's little girl, Long leather coat, Soggy noodles, Lunchbox, Odd soxx, I want you to fly, Hanglide, etc. Come on guys, get real!

I can't believe all the negativity about this! I stood in the pouring rain with breaking back, sore, wet, swollen feet and an empty stomach for 10 hours to see him. He is a legend, and I'd do it time and time again, with the same setlist over and over, just to see Paul McCartney. He will always sing his greatest hits, so remember that when he announces his tour, and don't bother going. That will give fans like me who would see him no matter what, a better chance of getting a ticket.

I can't believe what people are saying!! this is only the 3rd time I have seen macca but OMG it was the best night of my life by far!!! he sounded amazing and I would have been gutted if I hadn't of heard him sing the songs I love him for!!!! Hearing him sing a day in the life made my life and I can't see how anyone can knock what he did at Anfield the atmosphere was amazing!! I agree with Christinemacca if you don't like it don't go next time and the people who want to hear those song can enjoy them together rather then been stood next to some 'know it all' putting a downer on the gig!!!

Insanity! Forcing the 66 years old to do something, which he doesn't want to do! 99.99 of his fans adore his music and love him the way he is! So, please don't push so hard because everything you are hope for would only go to the trash bin. People would only blame Paul if his concert at Liverpool Sound were a flop! Not a fan!
I agree. While I'm sure we could all dream up our 'ultimate' Paul McCartney set list, there's no way anyone should be disappointed with what he's delved out in all his tours since the 1989-90 world tour. Additionally, he works his butt off while on stage and seemingly wants to ensure we (the audience) thoroughly enjoys ourselves.
You are a real true Paul McCartney Fan ever.

Thank you Mr Thomson for your enlightening 20th post in five years.....good job we're not all real fans like you and post on here an average of four times a year otherwise these discussion boards would have ground to a halt a long time ago. The most important fans are those who actually take the trouble to listen and evaluate Paul's work, not those sad individuals who are just obsessed and infatuated with him.

Just because we don't post on the forum all the time doesn't mean we're not a "real fan". I've been a big fan of Paul since I was 11 (i'm now 36) and i've only recently posted on this forum. Doesn't mean i'm any less a fan than you or any "less important" than anyone else

Kestral, because we enjoy a classic song like Let it be and enjoy Paul live, whatever the song, means we are obsessed and infactuated. Because you evaluate and listen, you are a wiser more rational fan. I don't think so. Are you saying we don't listen? I listen to everything Paul has ever done. I have all the music, the cds, the classical, experimental etc. It's all there to be enjoyed. Hearing anything live, with him in front of you is a bonus, for which I am grateful for. You call that obsessed, I call it realistic. Every big fan wants to hear their favorite song, that's a given, do you think you stumbled on a new concept. Of course we want to hear every song he's ever done. The difference is, some whine about it, call him names like lazy etc other fans enjoy the live experience.

This Liverpool event is NOT the concert where these concerns should be expressed. I think we should wait until his next full tour has been announced -- although it is a full year after "Memory Almost Full" came out. Maybe Paul's got a trick up his sleeve -- like another album! Cool. -a

christina, some here think, evaluation(actually criticizing) makes them better fans. Paul's been in this business for decades. He had 30,000 plus people, singing, dancing, crying on Sunday. It was a one off show, a celebration of Liverpool. But some fans know better. I hope you stick around and keep posting.
-
I hope i'm not a pompous and pious Paul fan,i do like to think i'm a great supporter come what may. I think everybody has a valid opinion, even if i tend to agree on the setlist needing a revamp. I am not going to slaughter anybody whatever there views.

the ignorance of some people... ...i wonder if it's because youre old.

Can everybody please express their opinion without resorting to personal attacks? Thank you

Do you know what? Paul could stand there & sing Bas Baa Black Sheep all evening & then burp as his encore. I DON'T CARE!!! I just want to see him !!! If people don't like the same same old then don't go & let some one more appreciative have your ticket x

Enough already......Macca could go on all week and still not play some of your favourites - his repetoire is HUGE. When you go to a gig you don't pick the set list - if you're so fed up that he does X song every tour don't go to the gig. I've never posted on here but I can't believe the negativity, I thought I find loads of people saying WOW, cheers mate. Anfield has seen some great nights and this one is right up there. We had an absolute blast and a night we never forget so THANKS VERY MUCH MACCA! I hope that the people of Liverpool enjoyed themselves as much as me and my family (and all the families and people that were around us at the gig). I can't believe we were lucky enough to go - it was a special night in Liverpool with a local lad made good (and then some).

I've seen every single tour since 1973 and have never had a problem with Paul's set. What is wrong with you guys? Seeing Paul perform ANYTHING is awesome. Yes, we all have our favourites and there are songs I'd personally like to hear, but Paul's no fool. He'll go for what the majority of fans will want. Frankly, it's just the atmosphere of the concert that's important to me - I'm not too bothered about the setlist. Having said all that, I almost passed out when he started 'A Day in the Life'. Now that was something I thought I'd never hear I can now die happy!
