Paul, Come To Australia

Casp:
And I did say that if I don't go to Japan to see Paul, I'll do VIP if he ever comes here.
I said the exact same thing. I was contemplating Japan and I've been kicking myself for chickening out but, even with the Jetstar sale, that still would have been at least $750 on flights, passport, accommodation and food let alone the price of the ticket.
briar:
The only thing is, you pay all that money for the front row and you only get side section seats. I am dying to go to the sound check so I think I will stump up the money anyway.
Yeah, that's why I'd recommend doing Hot Sound. From what I hear you're third row and can get centre. Third row centre is way better than front row behind a jib.
-
Thank you W.D. Stevens, I will definitely look into that one too.
-
Thanks to thenightfish and W.D. Stevens for the replies to my pre-sale questions. Cheers.

You're welcome! I wish you luck getting tickets!

Yes, you have a chance at centre seats with Hot Sound. I will say that soundcheck is a lot of fun and well worth the splurge - you get 45 minutes extra of live Paul! Plus some songs that he doesn't do in the show proper. I know people don't like it that the soundcheckers are kept farther back by the soundboard and not let up front, but that is the way Paul seems to want it. I did a SLOTix-organized soundcheck for Sting earlier this year in a standing venue, and we were allowed to walk right up to the front for soundcheck. So I think that the decision to have us farther back is where Paul seems to want us. But don't let that hinder you - it's still loads of fun to be the only ones in the arena watching Paul perform.

Yeah, thanks for the encouragement everyone. I've decided I'll regret not doing it far more than not. Though I kinda wish I hadn't given out as much advice now. I've gone and created competition for myself

I was actually thinking that last night! Good luck getting tickets today.

I doubt you will have all that much competition from us here. There doesn't seem to be many fans on this thread to take up the allocation. It's the bl***y scalpers I'm worried about. There might be a two ticket maximium for top VIP tickets, but the scalpers have all these robot programs set up to get around it. I will be going for front row, if the seats are decent, so hopefully I won't be your competition. I believe - and I might be totally wrong - but the front row side sections will be in A4 and A2, possibly even the A5 section of the diamond part. I'm just not sure if it's centre enough for me.

Anyone have advice re how many rows back is best to avoid the stage being there and having to look up constantly yet be still quite close? Maybe 8 rows back or less?

That's a point. I hadn't thought about that. Also, you don't miss the spectacle of Live and Let Die by being really close, do you?

VIP reserved tickets aren't always the best seats (from my limited experience with Rolling Stones packages and similar sized shows), so unless you're getting the top tier packages (ie Second Row Hot Seat Package or better) i'd imagine the seats would be decent but not guaranteed to be fantastic.

Yeah, I'm going to be getting Hot Sound so that should be fairly decent, I'd think. The other Hot Seats don't really seem worth it. An extra $400 for a ticket and a lanyard is a bit much, really.

How did everyone go? Third row. So so so excited!
-
Section A4, RowE. Totally easy. Stoked!!!!!!

That's awesome! Is that with a package? I bought regular Diamond tickets and ended up in the middle of section F on the floor which i'm pretty happy with

Yeah that's with the hot sound package. Dead broke now but so so happy!

Yep. I got A3 Row C Seat 20. Not too shabby, I think! I wish I knew whereabouts seat 20 was, though. What seat number are you, Casp? The only thing is it's listed as Section A3-1 which I'm assuming is rows C, D and E or something reserved for VIP.

Money comes and goes, but Paul McCartney concerts are once in a lifetime experiences!

Just a few seats down from you Mine says the same, A3-1. I take it to mean they've split a3 into sections and as you said A3-1 is vip.
