Paul, Come To Australia
-
Paul's always seemed to have neglected Australia in his tours, hopefully this'll change soon. I've seen him before in London, but it would be nice to see him come to Australia. I'm sure a lot of people would go see him, especially when a band like ACDC sold 500,000 tickets here in 30 minutes.

For someone who's waited 20 years to get an anouncement that Pauls coming to their country - I just want to add my support to your campaign
THANK YOU Stuart!!!!!! Very kind!!!

Sorry, it's just not going to happen. Paul's reluctance to tour here appears to be primarily related to money. The "numbers " don?t add up apparently. How is it AC/DC can ship the biggest load of equipment EVER to this country and sell enough tickets to make a profit? Their stage was the biggest EVER to be assembled here. They can spend millions to stage a tour and still make money. Why is Paul about the only international act that can't come here because it "won't be profitable"? Every other act can make a profit, why would he be incapable of doing so? It's not like Paul's show is any more massive than everyone else (look at the size of the U2 and Rolling Stones concerts). Scale the thing down to 10-15,000 seat indoor arenas like most other big name acts (Pearl Jam, REM, Eric Clapton, Elton John to mention a few). The Stones did it in 2002 and put on great shows. Paul can do a show in a 4,500 seat venue like The Joint in Las Vegas and make money. Why does he seem to think he can't make money here? This whole "economics" excuse is rubbish! Why doesn't Paul just come out and say he doesn't want to tour Australia? Saying that won't have any effect on his record sales here as he doesn't sell anything here! And maybe that's the real reason why he won't come. In his mind there is no market here for him. There's no market for Cliff Richard and The Shadows but they toured! Look at Pink. Not my cup of tea but she has my utmost respect. To come here and do more than 50 concerts last year shows she not only has a desire to make money but she WANTS to entertain. She didn't have to work herself into the ground doing that many shows. She chose to because she wanted to. I think Paul underestimates the scale of the ill-will here as a result of his cancellation of his single show in Melbourne in 2002, supposedly cancelled out of respect for the Aussie victims of the Bali bombings. Let's have a look at the "numbers" though. 30,000 tickets sold out of 50,000 over a period of a couple of months (remember when he gave fans sufficient notice before a gig or tour?). Paul's ego would've taken a hit as the show wasn't a sell out and sales seemed to have flat lined. Okay, fair enough. Maybe the Australian public were too slow or didn?t show enough interest. Come out and tell us that then. Why hide behind a terrorist atrocity? It didn?t stop him playing in a benefit concert in New York straight after 9/11. He could have made the Melbourne show a benefit concert and sold it out. Touring here, even if just a couple of shows, will remind us of just why we love him and his music. What better way to mend fences?
Out of curiosity, have U2 brought their monstrous stage to Australia yet?

Bono brought his monstrous ego...

Please no more negativity! I am not naive but I feel we should be as positive as we can be.

Sorry. I have it on very good authority there are no plans to tour Australia because of the economics and that annoys me. You can be as positive as you like. You'll not hear me try and convince you to be otherwise. I have flown to Liverpool and Las Vegas for the express purpose of seeing Paul play. I'd love him to come here so all his Aussie fans can get to experience the magic. It's just so disappointing to find out the reason we won't is we can't compete with the money to be made in the US and Europe. A fact of life I guess. Here's a cute thumbs aloft to help with the positive vibes

Its two years ago now that Australian's had some hope that Paul may do a final tour but he still has not been here in like 17 years! Will he continue to tour after the Up and Coming Tour?? Or is that all from Paul for Australia?!?!
-
Maybe Paul should fly down to Sydney for a vacation and do a stripped-down acoustic set at the Opera House?

I agree but he may as well do a tour while he's on vacation

Would that still be a vacation?

Please Paul, schedule either a tour or a one-off show a la Kiev, Quebec etc for Australia. Since 2002, you've toured North America many times, toured Europe, the UK, Japan, Mexico...and appeared in Russia, Ukraine, Israel...you've played secret gigs in clubs, played a record store, a private birthday party, played free concerts, played charity gigs, cameod at Billy Joel, Neil Young, ...even back in 99 you did a series of gigs to promote Run Devil Run...and ultimately broke our hearts when the Melbourne "Driving Oz" concert was cancelled. We haven't seen you here since 1993 in any capacity, and I'm getting air sick flying across to see you. On behalf of all Australian fans... PLEASE COME BACK!!!

Hi Everyone Just dropped in to keep this thread on page one. No news is Good news!!!So they say Why Paul is so intent in saturating the US with concerts, when he could be spending time in the Best Country in the World, is beyond me : Oh well, it is his loss. PAUL IN OZ Cheers Chrissie

If I was ever a rock star (yeah right, some chance! : ), Australia is somewhere I'd tour every time. I've always wanted to visit Oz. Be great for a holiday with a few gigs thrown in here and there. I suppose there would be a big cost in transporting the stage set, lights, etc, down under. But perhaps a series of stripped down shows would be viable? Fingers crossed for you guys.

yes it would be expensive but Paul will get the money back with the tickets on demand

Stuff the republic caper. We need to have our Government surrender to the US and become their 51st state! Guaranteed Paul would play here then!

Thats exactly what I thought! We don't need any of the fancy stuff, geeze I would see him even if it was just him and a guitar. I'm sure he would have sell out concerts here, just look at the Cat Stevens concerts here they sold out very quickly here.
