Paul McCartney supports Wetnose Day Legendary musician and environmental campaigner Paul McCartney has lent his support to animal charity Wetnose Animal Aid's annual Wetnose Day, posing for a picture while wearing a campaign nose to help raise awareness and funds for animals in desperate need across the UK. Fellow animal activists Joanna Lumley, Brian May, Amanda Holden and Paul O'Grady will be promoting the event, which takes place from September 29 to October 1, in an attempt to raise over ?100k for animal rescue centres nationwide. Lumley commented 'We're a nation of animal lovers, yet our animal sanctuaries are always full to bursting with ill-treated animals. For all of the animals who find their way to a Sanctuary this is a new start for them. So please do all you can to support Wetnose in the wonderful work they are doing. Your support does count very much'.

So funny I just posted this in the picture thread.

Thanks oobu
Really wish the original photo could be posted somehow, but it's way too big.... it showed more background, and Paul had his hands on his hips. Maybe someone knows of a way to reduce it, so it can be posted

Thanks? For what? I posted there before I saw you posted it here. I posted the link in the photo thread for people to see. You could always download it to your computer & open in a paint or drawing program & then resize it.

Thanks so much, Calicosky2001! I'm glad everyone can see the photo now
Have guidelines been posted before, on how to reduce photos?

if Paul really cared about animals he'd refuse to play countries like Japan who slaughter thousands of whale and dolphins annually or Spain with their ghastly barbaric "sport" of bullfighting. seems a bit disingenuous at best to me. but hey, dolphins and bulls aren't used for food production so maybe that makes it ok in his book

So it's not okay if it's for food production?
Paul would have to stop touring in the U.S. too, since we slaughter so many animals here!

it's a bit hypocritical to champion a vegetarian lifestyle while turning a blind eye to a barbaric blood sport like bullfighting. at least in food production people gain sustenance. bullfighting is strictly, for lack of a better word, "entertainment". so really, which is worse? god only knows wtf is wrong with the Japanses

Good news from California: I just got a letter from my Senator that bill AB 485 has passed & was signed into law by the Gov on Oct 13 this year. And I quote "AB 485 prohibits a pet store from selling a live cat, dog or rabbit unless they were obtained from a public animal shelter, non-profit, or animal rescue organization". Hopefully this will end mass breeding & puppy dog mills, etc. How the new law goes into effect will be interesting, I expect PETA will be very busy collecting puppies, kittens & rabbits that have been abandoned because the market is closed. Next time you see a pet store it will be full of mice, I guess. This goes in my Only In California list.
