I don't like how a clickable link takes you away from this page. It should be opening with a separate page.
I TOTALLY AGREE! You have to remember to hit the back button. I once just clicked out and then realized what had happened, but I was still logged in when I went back to the board.
This is not a hard thing for the people running this website to fix. As I've mentioned, I play a small role in helping to administer a couple sites run by the organization I work for. In most web platforms it's literally one or two mouse clicks to set links to open in a new tab. This is not hard, folks.
By the way, why do I keep seeing the red "new posts" dot on threads that haven't had anything new for a week or more, even when I last visited just yesterday? Is anyone else experiencing this?
Have you read the posts in that red dot thread? Mine seem to stay red if I never opened that thread...like threads I am not interested in. I have been noticing a thread will have a red dot on it when I have just posted in that thread.

Oobu is right. The red dots will be there on a forum or thread if you never go to that area. And since it doesn’t say who posted last on the forum, and just says “3 minutes ago” or whatever, sometimes you’re not sure if it was you or someone else!
And yes, I wish they would fix it so links open in a separate window! This is not brain surgery ffs!

The only way to make the red dot on the forum (on the home page) go away is to go back into it and look at the thread you were in again, but not post again.

Hi all, we just wanted to reassure you that we are reading your comments and working on fixes. Please do continue to leave your feedback and thoughts

Maccaboard in numbers.
We have 8803 registered users
Online now: 24848 registered users.
hmmmm, some things just don't add up around here.
I like the new look of the site but would have preferred to have seen the page numbers at the bottom of the page repositioned to the top. Its a bit of a pain to keep having to scroll down each time and then click on 'last' in order to bring up the 'up to date' page.

Glad to know that someone is still in the building.

It's good to know that someone is paying attention, but I hope they're starting to realize what a freaking disaster this new site is. Even if everything worked as intended, the interface on the old site was much simpler and more intuitive. But almost nothing here works! One more current peeve: If you're on the front page of a forum and set it to show only posts from the last day, go in and read a thread and then go back to the forum's main page, it loses your settings and shows you all posts again. How could anyone possibly think that makes sense?
While granting good intentions all around, this is just incompetence, period.

You don’t have to do that. If you have logged in yesterday, then today just click on 1 day and either Newest or Oldest first, whichever you prefer. You have to do that for the forum and each thread you want to view. Then only a few posts (at the most) will come up on the page. Rarely are there so many that they spill over to a 2nd page.

I agree, it’s a pain in the a$$ to have to keep inputting 1 day and Newest first!

Totally agree.

Was finally able to delete a PM conversation that was finished! Yay!
There are still 3 conversations I have going that people have not responded to my last post. Please Admin, is there no way to notify us when we have a new PM?!

It now seems to be saving your sorting preferences somewhat.

I can't delete any archived messages yet.

Sorry, has everything from the last couple of weeks just been deleted? I can't be sure of when the new boards came online but it looks like everything we've written since has been removed all of a sudden. There's whole pages missing from the Australian threads in Rock Show and the thread about my McCartney film trilogy only has episode 1 on it when I posted - and chatted about with Nancy R - all three.
-
Okay, I made a post and I can't see it now so I'm hoping it's just me and nobody else. I hope this gets resolved soon.

Hmmm... it sure isn't for me. Sometimes websites have glitches that are specific to particular browsers. Or maybe it's just random. In any case, navigating this site is so frustrating that I'm starting to dread coming here.

Not mine - it is MORE screwed up. After I made a post it used to show it at the bottom as the newest, with older posts above it in chronological order. Now it is all in some screwy order and I have to click 1 day and Newest to make sure my post is there!
ETA: The last post I wrote to W.D. Stevens popped up at the top like they usually do! This site has a poltergeist in it!

I found the thread and checked 1 month, Newest first and it went back to 23/11/17. If you click ANY and Oldest first it shows ALL the posts from your first one on 17/11/17. Nothing has been deleted.
After you write a post, if it doesn’t appear at the top, go up and click 1 day, Newest first and you will see your post and the prior day’s posts below it in descending chronological order.

Yep, I had the idea to try the '1 day' trick on my own luckily enough. Although, I think what had happened was it had switched to 'Newest First' rather than 'Oldest First' BUT it had the original post first so I didn't notice it was around the wrong way. So, what I thought was the "most recent" post on a thread was actually the second post. Man, this is confusing.

Mine is the opposite - I like to go to the last page of a thread to see the newest post, so I prefer "Oldest first"... now for some reason it's always newest first... there must not be a "general setting" for viewing posts, or everyone would see things the same. That is part of the problem, if settings were all the same, where we'd all see things the same, would be a litte easier to help each other figure things out.
