Elvis Presley

Audi, You keep missing my trivia questions! The last one was: What did Peggy Lipton say Elvis was "quite good at?"
-
-
Kissing!! (apparently he wasn't good at all at anything else, if you catch my drift! Too bad there was no Viagra back then!)
-
When I was still a journalist, I had the pleasure of interviewing Joe Esposito, whose book Good Rocking Tonight, talked about Elvis' flawed technique of avoiding impregnating women, which he thought was fail-proof (withdrawal).

Well, I've got one for you all. What was the song Elvis used for warm-up before his Las Vegas shows? -Clue One: It was a hit from a singer he admired -Clue Two: He didn't performed the song live or recorded it, as far as I know... I've never found any recording
-
My guess is that it's a gospel song by Mahalia Jackson, his favorite singer.

I am p.o.'ed! The King has been ROBBED! This is factually wrong! Lil Wayne surpasses Elvis Presley with most appearances on Billboard Hot 100 chart: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/best-rapper-alive-lil-wayne-surpasses-elvis-presley-billboard-hot-100-chart-article-1.1169515 Elvis had no less than 149 Hot 100 hits. Period. I don't know what the f-ck is up with Billboard, but I've known the following most of my life: (from www.elvis.com) "Elvis has had no less than 149 songs to appear on Billboard?s Hot 100 Pop Chart in America. Of these, 114 were in the top forty, 40 were in the top ten, and 18 went to number one. His number one singles spent a total of 80 weeks at number one. He has also had over 90 charted albums with ten of them reaching number one. These figures are only for the pop charts and only in America. He was also a leading artist in the American country, R&B, and gospel fields, and his chart success in other countries was substantial. "
Audi, I saw that online today when I was in the middle of surgery and I told the doctor and everyone, "Well, the Apocalyse has come--Lil Wayne has had more songs in the Billboard Top 100 than Elvis!" You need to email the person who wrote that article!!
If my memory is right, Elvis had 108 Top 40 hits. It's hard to believe that Lil' Wayne has come even close to that, considering that Lil' Wayne has been around for a relatively short amount of time. I can't even name one of his hits for that matter. I smell a rat. Actually, Elvis had 149+ Hot 100 singles: Let's not forget the 2002 and 2003 hit singles, "A Little Less Conversation" and "Rubberneckin."
I love this comment posted to an article at cnn.com about this debatable feat by Lil' Wayne: "Not true. Until he is the SOLE person on 109 singles, he has NOT broken any record." -chrisdg74 Hell, if Pitbull keeps at his current pace of guest-rapping on every piece o' crap Top 40 dung-track, he'll be breaking ALL of Elvis' records by next year. http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/27/lil-wayne-passes-elvis-presleys-hot-100-record/

No... more clues... Elvis used to attend shows of the that singer and viceversa. Elvis is also admired by that singer. *Additional, and probably useless clue I once met a guy who always warmed up with 2 songs, Can't Help Falling In Love and then a song that was a hit of that singer. So I told him the story. I told him Elvis warmed up with that song and he told me that's not a good song to warm up.

Is it a Jackie Wilson song?

Is it a Jackie Wilson song?
no Other clue, boths singers (Elvis and the other) were performing at the same time in Las Vegas, that's why one attended the concert of the other, got in touch and became sort of friends. About the song, the lyrics are about a murder. * Additional clue, possibly irrelevant Freddie Mercury had a cat named just like the song! and Queen recorded a song named just like the cat, so a song with same title than the song Elvis used to warm up.

It has to be this one

Bingo! Queen-Delilah, the one about Freddie's cat
Tom Jones live in Las Vegas 1969 but Elvis liked a lot Tom Jones and viceversa. In a Rolling Stone interview Tom Jones tells about how he felt when he knew Elvis warmed up with Delilah. -
This reminds me of when Tom Jones was on Arsenio Hall's talk show in the '90s. Tom shared that he was closer to Elvis than any of Elvis' other "celebrity friends." Aresnio half-jokingly asked: "Wow! Even closer than Wayne Newton was?" Tom Jones said: "Sheesh...he thinks he is Elvis." Got a nice laugh. Although that was a dis -- and I think Wayne Newton did genuinely love Elvis -- Tom's comment wasn't that far off-base.

I used to be a HUGE Tom Jones fan! Saw him in concert numerous times from age 15 to somewhere in my late 20's. Even got to kiss him 3 times!

When I saw him he was in his prime-age 30 to about 43!! Sexy as hell! The last time I saw him was when he performed a special concert for the Association of Operating Room Nurses which had their yearly convention here in Atlanta!

This is Tom Jones and Pavarotti (yeah, Pavarotti!) singing Delilah live
BTW, what would Elvis have sung with Pavarotti??? O Sole Mio/It's Now or Never, Surrender/Torna A Surriento (a Luciano's fav)... if in 1977 I think he would have done Hurt. And what about Paul? I think he would have done Besame Mucho with Luciano. I just laugh imagining Paul doing this at Pavarotti and Friends, all dressed up as a tenor... The whole show has never been very serious Nessun Dorma - Pavarotti,Brian Eno, Bono, Dolores O'Riordan, Gam Gam, Jovanotti, Marco Armiliato, Meat Loaf, Michael Bolton, Michael Kamen, Nenad Bach, Simon Le Bon, The Chieftains and Zucchero lol or this, Sting, Pavarotti and Zucchero-La Donna E Mobile, lol -
This is a classic. No way you can not laugh with The King:
