What Concerts are you going to this year?

moggy:
Chezza:
I'm going to see Morrissey on his 50th birthday at the Manchester Apollo, been to the Apollo once before, great venue but I would have preferred the MEN. I did originally plan to see him at the Albert Hall as it's nearer but then I realised that it would be more special seeing him on his 50th.
Ime going to that Chezza , should be a good night I would rather have a smaller venue like the apollo than the MEN.........but after going to the GMEX twice last year the MEN is great in comparrison.
It's just that I haven't been to the MEN before and I like to know what it's like in there as it's more popular than the Apollo...I think. What's the GMEX like? That used to be a train station didn't it?

I went to the gmex in the early 90s watching The Inspiral Carpets ( one of the most memorable concerts i have been to.....the atmosphere was fantastic) and Weller .....and it wasnt a bad venue. HOWEVER they had seating around the outside , and then a standing area. This gave it some shape and made it look smaller. I went watching the arctic monkeys and hard fi last year and the seats are no longer there , so it is one vast , empty area........its dreadful, i will not being going agian. The MENs ok depending where you are. It is very rare i go, but i have been lucky......Weller twice stood near the front. Macca / bowie high up but near the front.........its not bad for a large venue, but i an so used to going to small/ medium ones.

I have been three times and its fantasic ( well two were....lovely weather) It does get packed for camping , so you are better going early.......we set off Wednesday night. Its great to get away from 'normal ' life for a few days ....no cars, newspapers, work, tvs ect. The whole Glastonbury festival is PROBABLY the best.......but personally some of the bills at other festivals seem better recently.

I went to see Peter Gabriel in Buenos Aires last week. The show was amazing, one of the greatest I've ever seen, I won't think twice if I have the chance to see that man live again.

I just saw Dhani Harrison's group, thenewno2, play at Amoeba and will be seeing Paul at Coachella. Just saw Rain The Tribute play and will be seeing The Fab Four soon. I'm hoping to see Morrissey at Coachella, too. Not enough money to see all the shows I want to see, like U2 and Depeche Mode.

Per Gessle in May Clouseau (Belgian group) in May and September Crosby Stills & Nash in July (with franni from the board ) and Bootleg Beatles in October. Looking forward to all of those concerts...but if there's one tour I'm dying to go to but I can't, it's the new Simon & Garfunkel tour in New Zealand and Australia.
