Does Paul Cancel??
-
I am getting ready to book a flight for the Fargo show. I understand that the ticket sales there are VERY slow. Is there a chance that the show could be cancelled? I can get a very cheap flight, but it's non-refundable. I think I remember one of his shows in Europe being cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

The only time I've seen Paul cancel a U.S. show was during the New World Tour in '93. Syracuse date was cancelled. I believe it had something to do with the live concert broadcast on Fox TV that same week in Charlotte, N.C.

I hope that sales end up okay in every city. The list of cities is very "new" this time around.

Wow, I am amazed at the # of good seats still available for Fargo. It *almost* is enticing enough for a trip.

lol I couldn't do the hot sound package, but I need people like you to be sitting next to me lol. I hope I am sitting next to some boardie member or super fan. I am kind of nervous to be sitting next to Dakotans who tell me stuff the entire concert. I don't know what they will be like and I am hoping they will be cool. I usually never have problems at concerts, but this would be a brand NEW experience with like a brand NEW audience. But I know the boardies were "Appreciate" the "fan" attitude I have.

Yes, Denmark...summer of 2012.

Also canceled Australia all those years ago now. Has postponed some shows due to illness. My mother is very ill, so I bought the ticket insurance (doing VIP package) and will be driving. Hotel can be canceled. If it ends up that I can't go, at least I get my $ back.
-
He rescheduled Santiago last April, not cancelled...I hope you don't be unlucky
-
He did "postpone" the 2002 Australia show and hasn't been back since 1993. Some people think it's because of poor ticket sales.

Does Paul Cancel? Is the Pope a Catholic? Are the Kennedy's gun shy???!!!

Sorry to hear about your Mom. Hope she will be ok.

Let's hope there are no cancelled shows this summer!

Ticket sales are not the main factor. I've been to lots of concerts and events that did not sell out or even come close. Headliners still appear, they don't just cancel because of empty seats. Performers are usually paid by promoters in advance. They don't even announce a show until the money is in the bank. Then it's up to the promoters to sell the seats. Promoting a concert can be a huge risk, as is the buying and reselling of tickets. McCartney is still a hot ticket, so there's little risk, but it's still there. But even if a gig isn't sold out there is a contract to appear. Unless there is some unforeseen problem with the venue or an illness. I believe some Australian appearances were cancelled because of the fear of terrorism. Cancelled shows can cost millions to everyone involved. So it would have to be something major for him not to appear.

All the best for your Mom. My father (and long-time macca fan and concert goer) died April 22. That's why I didn't went to Costa Rica to catch Paul's concert. (My father was going to be with me at that concert, but his death was a shocking surprise in a matter of minutes). Life is like that. Hope you and your mom could enjoy the trip, there is nothing better than share a thing like that with the ones you love the most!

Thank you, enjoy all your great times with your son, same as I did with my father catching Macca's worldwide since 1993, same as you have done with your son since before we did. I've lost my friend, who also turns out to be my father.
