I can't believe this--I looked at 3 websites for the lyrics to My Brave Face and they all say "can't" not "can!" I always thought it was "can" which makes sense to me (Take me to that place where I can find my brave face) Edited to add: I just looked at the lyrics on the CD and it says "can't!"
Not as bad as when I found out that "Live & Let Die" wasn't "in which we're living" but, instead, "in which we live in." Oy vey!
Dustbin Lid still takes the cake, despite knowing that it's evidently an accepted slang term back in his neighborhood
I should check out that one.
Do you have the Pipes of Peace album? If so, slap on track# 3

'from a lover to a friend' great song but ive never been sure about the line 'despite too easy ride to see'
Yikes! Not even the Lennon-sanctioned "movement you need is on your shoulder" disclaimer can justify that one.

I remain belligerent in my belief that "in which we're living", as also with "CAN" is the right lyric despite what it's listed in. I put no faith in "official" printed lyrics.
I may have to subscribe to that belief with ya'...to preserve my sanity!

How about Lionel Richie's "Hello"? "Hello -- is it me you're looking for?" WRONG!!!! "Me" is incorrect, as it is the direct-object, and -- of course -- one must never end a sentence with a preposition. It should be: "Hello. Is it I for whom you are looking?"
Heard this on a 'Net radio station recently. Lionel STILL hasn't corrected this terrible error.

Treat me nicely? How about All Shook Up?

And... "(I'm) All Up-Shaken"* *=the use of the term "up" is somewhat redundant; therefore, "I'm Shaken" is the preferred answer for the hard-core grammar-nerds.

"The simplest things set me off again and take me to that place where I can't find my brave face." Now that makes sense to me now. I still believe it's "In which we live in" in Live and Let Die though.

Yeah it maes sense but I NEVER thought that's what he was singing. If you listen it REALLY sounds like 'can'!

Coherent or not, all that matters in this thread, is that it's grammatical.

Heart's "Who Will You Run To?" WRONG!!!!!! Correct: "To Whom Will You Run?" (from the same song) "Who's gonna love you, baby, as good as I?" While I'm impressed by the correct usage of "I," this line is still not grammatical. CORRECT: "Who's gonna love you, baby, as well as I?"

"Who's gonna [i.e., going to] love you, baby, as well as I do?" Better yet.

I'm just going to pretend that line in "Live & Let Die" is what I'd assumed it was for so many years: "...in which we're living." (there...that's better )

Bob Dylan's "The Times, They Are A' Changing" WRONG!!! "The times, they..." is redundant.
More precisely, it is an example of pleonasm, as in "the man he said."

Check it out at 19:30 here:
Very clearly he sings "In which we live in"
