From the working class roots of my hometown before Thatcher and time tore the heart out of it....... Jimmy Nail......'Big River'
My fathers business was situated on the edge of this fine river. From the days when the UK actually produced things, and communities existed. That bitch has a lot to answer for Christy Moore- goose green
I love the Housemartins. Great songs, great vids, rubbish dancing , funny observant lyrics, with normally a dig at thatcher. SHEEP I have told this before on here......the housemartins changed drummers, so they used it in the next three vids dig at thatcher " Feigning concern, a conservative pastime Makes you feel doubtful right from the start The expression she pulls is exactlly like last time Youve got to conclude she just hasnt a heart " I love parklife by blur.......but i think Modern life is rubbish is better. Great vid -
Moggy Excellent!... Mr Heaton ain't a fan of the Beatley boys I read in one of those 'top 100 Beatles songs of all time as voted for by musicians' things that you find in Mojo or a mag like that. Still his music is good....loved The Housemartins. Newcastle is now full of apartments, cofffee bars and suits....it's even got it's own caviar restaurant......bleedin' 'ell... What happened to the blue collar workers, the flat caps, broon ale and pidgeons? It was a bit of a stereotype but at least back then the Toon had a soul......now it could be anywhere. It's a 'commercial centre'.....ie full of financial institutions offices.....they'll all be empty in a few months time when the country is bankrupt......(shhhh, don't tell but apparently according to certain people who shall remain nameless the UK is French Connectioned......if you know what I mean....soon it'll be time to hoard some tins and rice etc, then pull up the drawbridge and keep your head down). Its all her fault and David Bowie's according to todays Mirror newspaper.....check that out it sounds strange but actually makes sense.

The great XTC.....
-
Some more stuff starting with Tenpole Tudor....
and some ants...... -
Bow wow wow.....
and the iconic Siouxsie and The Banshees........ the number of times I've danced to those two tracks.....two of my top twenty.....here's another fave......'See You' by Depeche...... This was an era when you didn't spend the whole of a song wondering where you'd heard it before.....it's called originality......some of todays artists could do with a lesson in it! In fact up until the mid 90's most songs sounded original.....like they'd been written by a songwriter rather than nicked off someone else or prdouced by a computer programme. -
Finally......yeah finally....for now.....the one and only, one of the all time legends and one of the most influential artists in UK music, the late great Marc Bolan and T. Rex. Marc used to hang aorund the scene with the boys, Donovan and later with Bowie and Elton in the late 60's, early 70's.
a really rough version of Telegram sam....love it! -
Oh, bugger it!....found this .......Johnny Carson and dear Norman. God bless you Norman! Memeories of listening to this when it came out are so clear......loved playing it at home on the old Bush record player.
-
The man Noddy.....he was compared as a singer to John.....great voice......the mighty Glam Rock outfit from the 70's Slade.
-
wow, thanks for all those, david & moggy
-
SusyLuvsPaul Thanks for those two.... Great, the first video is excellent.. . Sadly the sentiments expressed by the Inuit man at the beginning are terrifyingly true........although we other more pressing things to worry about at the moment. The second 'Lucky Stars'.....I actually bought the vinyl album when it came out and the singles as well....haven't heard that song for ages. My stuff was really just to entertain and give some people the chance to relive their mis-spent youth or for some to see sonething they may never have come across......love all that Glam Rock and Punk stuff....

Of course, I love the Who reference at the end! -
Bloody Brilliant!..... Thanks moonraker Nice to see Moggy at his mixing desk.....positioning himself near the cakes as usual......can't keep Mogster away from a nice fondant fancy....

I have been listening to Hefner recently
classic David..........? -
Moggy Ha ha..... Where do people find these films and photos of me?..... I mean, how did you film that? That was me running through Rowntrees Park of York on my way to the naturist event held at the York Maze every year. The dress? Well, that's me doing my J Edgar Hoover impression.... .....actually that's a little hobby of mine. NO, not cross dressing... : , dress-making. Just doing some modelling, a little number for a customer (who suddenly wasn't there when the police arrived, at least that's what I told the judge..... :lol. I couldn't explain away the blonde wig. Actually, if only that were me, if only I was that lithe. I am a little more hairy than that too, well actually a lot......actually I am an ape. It's a good job you had a saddle on that bike Mogs or heaven knows what would have happened. Might have brought tears to your eyes or a smile to your face.... (Thank God they're body suits they've got on..... )

good fun vid from belle and sebastian
I can relate to some of that vid [size=7](like cleaning the windows) Two more from B&S A band i have never seen . Country house- blur Guitarist Graham Coxon hated this vid so much, he nearly left ( i dont think he was mad on the song either) Made by DamienHurst and featuring Lilys dad. Graham solo( he can play the guitar for England ) TURN UP LOUD ! ........and with weller , mani and zak starkey -
Moggy You and me are kindred spirits mate...... I've had a lifetime of days like that..... I once got a little ahem! in the file room at the Civic Centre in the Toon, no photocopiers back then unfortunately.......'the lights went and I was groping for the light switch mu' lord!'..... The blonde at the beginning is sooo like a woman that used to walk past me at the bus stop in Newcastle on my way to school when I was 14.......she worked at the bank nearby. It was the era of Anna from ABBA so she was just my type and had the same fashion sense and hair style as the blonde here......she also had nipples like chapel hat pegs......ah, mammaries.....sorry memories..... God that video is so like my 70's.......
