great lyric THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT - Paul Weller A police car and a screaming siren - A pnuematic drill and ripped up concrete - A baby waiting and stray dog howling - The screech of brakes and lamplights blinking - that's entertainment. A smash of glass and the rumble of boots - An electric train and a ripped up 'phone booth - Paint splattered walls and the cry of a tomcat - Lights going out and a kick in the balls - that's entertainment. Days of speed and slow time Mondays - Pissing down with rain on a boring Wednesday - Watching the news and not eating your tea - A freezing cold flat and damp on the walls - that's entertainment. Waking up at 6 a.m. on a cool warm morning - Opening the windows and breathing in petrol - An amateur band rehearsing in a nearby yard - Watching the tele and thinking about your holidays - that's entertainment. Waking up from bad dreams and smoking cigarettes - Cuddling a warm girl and smelling stale perfume - A hot summers' day and sticky black tarmac - Feeding ducks in the park and wishing you were faraway - that's entertainment. Two lovers kissing amongst the scream of midnight - Two lovers missing the tranquility of solitude - Getting a cab and travelling on buses - Reading the grafitti about slashed seat affairs - that's entertainment. Weller plays guitar on this Class -
wonder what city in England Weller sang about in the above?

I love Kate Bush, bit of a looker too I may give her a play tomorrow. I am into a bit of skanking tonight
Re Paul Weller ....its sad that i know this without looking ops: He is from Woking on the outskirts of London....but he says he was in Leeds one night , and he got back to his hotel drunk, and wrote the lyrics in five minutes. I think it was about England in general. " i was just writing about what i saw around me " Pauls dad / manager on hearing he was spliting up the Jam " your f***** joking arnt you ?" The original Jam version His attitude must change when he leaves....he wrote this a couple of years before Thats entertainment He can be moody Someone on the weller forum said he was in order , and the person in the crowd was a nuisance I have just come across this What a set of idiots (except weller) hes kept to his ideals, and proved those bores wrong. ...hes never done anything cheesy/ showbiz. Hes kept to his roots....hes big , but could have been bigger ....but he didnt want to sell his soul. Hes never sold out , and hes kept his credibility. The only other person to do that is probably Joe Strummer. He looked absolutly disgusted with the whole interview. " IF you take off " They were probably the biggest group in England since the Beatles (at the time) What a set of clowns -
he dyed his hair blonde though (just teasing, that's a minor superficial thing) --I know England has some ugly parts, but doesn't it have some gorgeous parts too such as its countryside and certain seaside resorts and the Lake District of Cumbria, etc. Have you been to Charlotte Bronte's old parish house in the North of England? in Haworth I think, a small village. I may not have spelled it right. I used to read books about the Brontes all the time and those they wrote. Their brother behaved like a modern rock star except he was poor and not a rock star, course. The sisters never did a thing 'wrong' and when Charlotte finally did have sex it killed her (in childbirth). But I digress. why are you so obsessed with Paul Weller? dumb question....he must bring you as much joy & happiness as Paul Macca does for me.

i fancy right many weller ditties, moggy. especially 'have you ever had it blue' and 'youre the best thing' and smooth sounding, pleasing ones of that ilk, which is usually his style, isnt it?

Hi yeah , i have been to Howarth..... i took my late mum on a few occasions. The Lake disrict, Yorkshire, Scotland and many other areas are also beautiful ( Even Rivington close to me is ) Paul Weller and Macca have given me loads of pleasure , but i have got into far more music, reading and politics through Weller. Also i love his attitude. I dont like his hair at the moment ....he looks like a cross between rod stewart and wurzle gummage . Like Macca he really hasnt got a style (his last album as all kinds of music on it ....including a tango) From the songs you mention , his Style Council days would be more your taste. Some Weller fans dont really like TSC, but i love them. They always sounded of summer to me with that jazz influence, and the lyrics strong and powerful at times. He started with punk in 76-77 but you can tell from their clothes and hair that they /HE was a mod. He loved the beatles/who/ small faces/soul when all the other 'punks' would not admit to it. A young weller
the sex pistols nicked that for holidays in the sun The style council DC (his then wife) was pregnant when they made that ....hence being behind the piano One of the best b sides ever a jazzy version They all remind me of summer and a better time......pity i am freezing -
"he was a Mod"---YEAH!!
