I missed the full interview. I did catch a comment that they played later...expect a surprise song for New Scotland! My guess is "Mull of Kintyre" Paul also said that they are rehearsing as he speaks (during the interview). A great sign, that new songs could be added! This is going to be awesome! I am so psyched for these shows! Podgie (Halifax here I come!!!) Monkey

I recorded it but give them a few days and most likely it will be posted on their website. They devoted some time talking about Michael Jackson and it was nice to hear Paul confirm my suspicions as to why Joe was 'omitted' from the tribute statement. On a sidenote crews have already begun setting things up at The Common. DCD Ltd.

There was something on a local radio station today where they had mentioned a YouTube video from the Quebec concert last summer where Paul makes a flub on "something". If you can identify what it is, they'll give you free tickets. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is...if it's a lyrical flub, or an information/fact flub. I already have my tickets, but I know some people that would LOVE to go, but can't afford it, so I'd love to win the tickets for them. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Massachusetts. I am pretty sure I remember being told it's an Indian (Native American) name, I think it means "Land of Taxes Plenty" or something like that. Podgie (I'm kinda South of the Border...well, at least for Canada) Monkey

When I look up "Something" from Quebec on Youtube, the first thing that comes up is a video entitled "Something", but it is actually "Hey Jude". Is that the flub they mean? Podgie ("Something" wrong there) Monkey

Didn't he fluff his words in Live And let Die just before the bangs started and creased up with laughter?
Yes, that's the one. Go for it and good luck. Martin -

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean the song "Something", just that something was fooled up/wrong, etc.

I am not sure, I've emailed that answer in...so hopefully if it isn't right, they'll forward the link they are referring to (they had said you could request the specific link, but I have yet to receive it). I'll keep you posted! And big thanks! Hopefully I'll be able to suprise some (poor!) fans!

From the local paper, the Halifax Herald, today: Sir Paul's Halifax fans treated to morning Macca McCartney gives interview to radio station Q104 By OUR STAFF Thu. Jul 2 - 11:32 AM Halifax fans of Sir Paul McCartney got a morning surprise Thursday when the legendary performer and former Beatle called up radio station Q104 for an 8 a.m. chat about his upcoming July 11 concert on the Halifax Common. In an easygoing and candid conversation with station host and program director ? and lifelong Beatlemaniac ? J.C. Douglas, the 67-year-old musician discussed topics ranging from his relationship with the late pop star Michael Jackson to his controversial stand against the seal hunt off the coast of Newfoundland. ?Less of the formality, please,? McCartney said the first time Douglas addressed him as ?Sir Paul,? later joking when the host said ?Paul McCartney is God and can do no wrong? that ?Remember, I own lightning and thunder, so behave yourself.? Munching on toast and tea during a break from rehearsal for next weekend?s show, McCartney spoke in that famous Liverpool twang about picking Halifax as his only Canadian show and the first in a series of shows designed to be more like a handful of special events, rather than ?a big two-year slog.? ?I?m very excited actually, it?s going to kick off our summer tour,? he said between bites. ?I happened to run into Neil Young the other night, he was playing in London, and he asked me what I was doing and I said I was going to Halifax. And he said, 'Oh, it?s great there man, we went back!' He liked it so much that he went back, so I?m excited for it.? In fact, McCartney was coaxed onstage by Young, who had inducted him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, at the Canadian rocker?s Hyde Park concert on June 27. Initially, McCartney balked at Young?s manager?s suggestion that he join him for the encore of the Beatles? famous Sgt. Pepper coda A Day in the Life. ?Then Neil came over and said, 'Hey Paul, y?know ...? So how could I refuse? He and I went out and made fools of ourselves. It was great though, it was a great big buzz. ?It?s crazy when you go to something as a member of the audience and suddenly you?re up in front of 60,000 people. But it was great fun to play with him because I admire him a lot.? McCartney hopes to attract upwards of 60,000 fans to the Halifax Common next weekend for his first official Nova Scotia visit, although Douglas asked him to clarify some long-standing rumours that he?d visited the province years ago on a private yacht. ?Those rumours do proliferate, all around the world. Everywhere I go I hear things like, 'In Moscow, did Beatles come and play secret gig? Very big rumour!?? he jokes in a Russian accent. ?So no, I never had a yacht in Halifax harbour. I?d have liked to.? The other hot topic that?s had McCartney?s name in the news lately was his relationship with Michael Jackson, with whom he recorded the ?80s singles Say Say Say and The Girl is Mine after the late pop star called him up out of the blue and asked him ?Do you want to make some hits?? Jackson later bought up the publishing rights to McCartney?s Beatles song catalogue, and Douglas asked him how he felt about the effect that had on their friendship and his reaction to the rumours ? later disproven ? that Jackson had bequeathed the rights to his songs to him. ?When I heard it, I thought, 'Well, I don?t think that?s true.' To tell you the truth, I kinda got off that years ago,? he explained. ?It was something for a while that I was very keen on ? you can see why, naturally ? I thought it was a natural with Michael taking over that something would be able to be happening there, but when I realized it wasn?t, I thought, 'Get off it.' ?I?m doing well enough anyway, I don?t like those things to just sort of eat you up, y?know.? And speaking of eating, Q104 morning host B.J. Burke suggested McCartney might want to try some of the local cuisine while in Halifax, specifically the donairs that are sold directly behind the site of the concert stage at Robie and Cunard streets. McCartney sounded interested, until he was informed the pita full of spiced ground beef and sweet sticky sauce might not exactly jibe with his diet. ?It?s got a lot of meat? Well, I?m not going to eat it then,? said the famous vegetarian. ?Save me a doNUT.? (newsroom@herald.ca)

I have two extra tickets to the Halifax show, if anyone knows of someone who needs them--I'd even be willing to part with them for $100 USD in case some fans can't afford the full amount--PM me if interested!

Please, is US dollar largely accepted in Halifax or should I get some Canadian dollars too? Thanks!

I would definitely recommend getting some Canadian dollars. The USD is accepted in some locations, but genearlly it will make life a LOT easier for you if you have CAD. Not sure where you're staying, but there are a lot of banks in the downtown area where you can exchange your money - RBC Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal, TD Canada Trust, Scotiabank, etc.

For anyone travelling to Halifax - I don't mind pm'ing you my contact information. I'm happy to help you in any way I can while you're here visiting! I work right downtown Halifax, and live about a 15-20 minute or so drive from the waterfront. When are most of you arriving?! (p.s. we've been having really dreary wet weather, so make sure to pack your rain coat!)

a little bit of recently released information on parking and shuttles for the concert: City announces parking plans and closures for McCartney and KISS Halifax Regional Municipality is getting ready to rock as work crews hit the Commons tomorrow morning. They?ll start loading equipment for the upcoming Sir Paul McCartney and KISS shows on to the park at 9 a.m., an HRM news release said, adding there are no planned street or sidewalk closures for the concerts. Most pathways on the Halifax Commons will also remain open, with the exception of those in the northwest corner where the stage will be set up. Parking on the south side of Cunard Street from Robie to North Park streets will be ?restricted to concert use only? from Friday through July 21, the release said. Parking around other areas of the park will only be affected on concert dates, which are July 11 for McCartney and July 18 for KISS. To help avoid traffic snarls, the city is offering special shuttle services to the concerts from the Portland Hills, Lacewood and Sackville terminals, as well as from South Centre Mall every ten minutes starting at 12:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on July 11 and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on July 18. Return shuttles will leave downtown Halifax starting at 10 p.m. on both nights. The shuttle will cost $2.25 each way.

It does - but as you can appreciate, Maritime weather can (and does!) change on a dime! Ha ha - so I'd play it safe and be prepared for any type of weather. Crossing my fingers for a beautiful day...or at least one without the rain we've had, essentially, non-stop for 14 days. Hard to believe I have my space-heater plugged in here at work and there's so much fog I can't see the water (my office overlooks the Harbour); yet, my parents in NL are enjoying 30+ and sun! Arghhh!
-
Thank you all for the tips on Halifax. I really hope the weather improves. If you are using space-heaters, imagine me, a Brazilian living in South Florida...anything below 20degC is pretty much cold for me

Ah - what part of Brasil are you from?! Myclose friend is also from there - Belo Horizonte. The temperature outside hasn't been too bad, but the damp weather has made it chilllier than it should be for this time of the year. Right now it is 17 degrees and foggy. It's calling for 20 degrees and cloudy on Thursday, but the forecast changes daily, so I wouldn't trust it until closer to the day. Anxious to see what it'll be like Saturday! I drive by the Common every day on the way to work - they are starting to set up! Hard not to get excited!
