This sounds like a different layout than was posted here earlier, I think ??
City works to limit Common damage during summer concert season GEOFF DAVIES METRO HALIFAX May 27, 2009 12:00 a.m. Be the first to comment Print article Text size The Halifax Common will host two major concerts within one week of each other in July, and the municipality is trying some new tactics to keep the field ship-shape. Shaune MacKinlay, Halifax Regional Municipality?s Manager for Public Affairs, said large parts of the North Common will be off-limits to cars and trucks involved in the concert preparations. Paul McCartney is performing at the Common Saturday, July 11, with Kiss taking the stage July 18. ?The real issue with the Common is not the number of people on it,? MacKinlay said about how concerts in the past damaged the field. ?It?s the tires that turn up the soil that have been the bigger issue.? Patrick Dickson, who supervises the maintenance of the Common, said the plan at this point is for McCartney and Kiss to both deliver their shows on a stage set up near the corner of Robie and Cunard streets. He said the roped-off area will be around some of the baseball diamonds along Cogswell Street. Dickson said the last time the Common hosted a concert, when Keith Urban came to town last August, it took three weeks to finish the bulk of the repairs, and the rest of the work won?t be done until mid-June. According to MacKinlay, part of the money from ticket sales for the McCartney and Kiss shows will be set aside to help with field repairs and improvements.
Yes, Paul was suppose to face the opposite way Kiss was set to. Now it looks as if both will play with the same stage set up a week apart.

So to get the early bird price, I'll just have to wait until Friday and then buy them from their site?
Correct.
Thanks for clearing that up!

Thanks for the info, Martin. But I was wondering... an early bird price of $136 is listed on the page. How would one obtain a ticket (or tickets) at that price? Do I call that phone number?
You should find that on Friday the layout of that web-page will change to include links to the internet purchase process. For an example of how the page will look on the day, look at the page for the Kiss concert which has tickets on sale already - you will see a "Buy Tickets" button showing - the start of the Paul ticket sale will look the same: http://www.ticketatlantic.com/en/home/concerts/halifaxrocks2009.aspx One thing that everybody can do ahead of that date is to register for an on-line account using the link on the Paul McCartney concert page: On-line account registration page Doing that ahead of the day, and optionally entering your credit card details ahead of the sale, should make the ticket purchase a breeze without the need to enter address or credit card details under the pressure of the sale itself. On the day, log into your account ahead of the 09.00 AT sale time and wait for the sale links to appear by refreshing that web-page regularly. Martin

Coming into the show from Newfoundland! Gonna be an awesome time! Can't wait!

I took tomorrow off. Debating if I should camp-out at a local grocery store near my house (they sell tickets here), or try online. Parents are visiting from NL...maybe they can do the online thing, and I'll get in line. I wouldn't imagine I'd have trouble getting rid of tickets if I end up with too many?! But yes, the suggestion/recommendation to make sure you're registered with TicketAtlantic, and have entered your credit card information is a GREAT one. Otherwise, you're losing valuable time! It's very exciting - I can't believe tickets are on sale tomorrow! Good luck to everyone who is trying for tickets!!!

TicketAtlantic posted a FAQs section on the website: http://www.ticketatlantic.com/en/home/concerts/paulmccartneyfaqs.aspx

This should be a great show!!!!

Thanks for all the help, I sent all the links to my grandparents. Turns out they knew most of what I sent them, like they had an account already, but I was just making sure! It would be soooo awesome we could get tickets, but if we don't, we'll being staying in the area. (And I was told there would be more buses available during the day of the concert, for those who need transportation since there is no parking at the concert.)

The general admission seats aren't standing room only right? I was thinking I'd rather spread out on a blanket than pay double for an unconfortable bleacher seat. Still not sure I'm doing this. Still hurting from the New York and Vegas shows.

According to the TicketAtlantic site the GA is "standing room only". The seat plan is available. It is different from the Kiss show: http://www.ticketatlantic.com/site-ta/media/ticketatlantic/paulmccartneyMAPS.JPG

If it's anything like Quebec and you want to be close to the front, you will be standing or sitting on the ground (in advance of the show) for upwards of 18 hours... I took pictures sitting on the ground while waiting through the 2 opening acts (gee I hope he dispenses with those), at my MaccaLand website.. http://geography.hunter.cuny.edu/~mclarkeMaccaLand.htm

After seeing that map it looks as if they went back to the original site (different from KISS) and I'm not sure about the VIP seats. Guess I will decide at 9 a.m.

We're only hours away now.... I live about an hour outside Halifax and am starting to get nervous that I won't get tickets. I'll be trying the online route. Oh, there were a few letters to the editor in the Halifax paper from readers saying they won't be seeing Paul because of his stance on the seal hunt. I sent a letter that was printed yesterday... here's the link. Scroll down to "ROOM TO ENJOY THE SHOW" http//thechronicleherald.ca/Letters/1124085.html

Great letter! Thanks for taking the time to write it and also for sharing it here. I hope you get tickets and have a fabulous time at the show. Wish I could be there.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but they finally have the posting for the layout - it is different than expected. The VIP area sucks, though! https://ev9.evenue.net/evenue/linkID=halifax/core/seating_charts.html#6
