What are the chances of Paul playing Mull Of Kintyre?
There is quite a strong link between Nova Scotia and Scotland historically so he better. Thats the song that pulled me to really having to go I will have seen him 11 times if I make my way there and not once have I seen him in Scotland. I'm desperate to hear Mull (and a few other songs but this is more realistic)
Listening to that song live is just amazing! let's hope he plays it!

Paul played Birthday in Quebec in honor of their 400th. There were Quebec flags used as backgrounds and of course he came out with a giant one at one point, and at another came out with a Quebec sweatshirt. I'm sure he will be looking for ways to honor Halifax and the area.

I hope you get to!!! I have seen him do Mull five times, all in either Scotland or Toronto, which seem to be the only places he's ever done it. Not surprised that he didn't do it in Quebec but NS seems a possibility.

!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M GOING!!!!! This will be my first Paul concert!! Woohoo!!!! : My grandparents go to Nova Scotia all the time (they just went in fact, but they like it there so much that they don't mind going again) and so when I told them Paul was coming... well... my grandma was all ready to get going! She has/had her doubts, since apparently Paul was going to come to Halifax, but backed out at the last minute. Either way, there's plenty of other stuff to do in the city. But I can't wait either way!!!! It'll be my first airplane trip without my parents, so that's a bit... what's the word.... I'm too excited I can't think straight....!!!! We're trying to get tickets, but I have no idea when they'll be going on sale. But we'll hear him around the city so there's no worries... I hope he plays "Mull of Kintyre". Realizing "Nova Scotia" means "New Scotland", it makes perfect sense. Besides, it's one of my favorite songs and my grandparents like it too. I'll promise to take the best pictures I can.... even better, the week before I leave for Halifax, I'll be at Disney World!

You know, I almost didn't go... I said I was perfectly fine with not going and just watching the concert on YouTube!!! What the hell was I smoking yesterday?!? If I didn't go, it would've been the worst mistake of my life!!! If we don't get tickets, my grandparents said we wouldn't stay for the whole show, and we'd go back to the hotel in Dartmouth. (I'll talk to them, and set them straight! Hopefully though, we will get tickets.) But looking at Google Maps, it doesn't seem that far away from the Commons... just across the harbor is all! Would the concert really be that loud? And it'll be interesting to travel internationally by myself. All I need is an iPod packed with Paul's music and a laptop computer!

I can imagine a band of bagpipers filing onto the stage in the middle of the song.

It's probably worth reposting this information - this thread is moving so fast posts get left behind:
Ticket Atlantic do now have an official Paul McCartney concert page: http://www.ticketatlantic.com/en/home/concerts/paulmccartney.aspx The ticket prices on there do remain To Be Announced Sale time confirmed as 09.00 AT Friday May 29th. Here's a link to the World Time Server time zone converter set up for that moment, just switch the calculator to your own local time zone to find out when tickets will go on sale: http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_CA-NS.aspx?y=2009&mo=5&d=29&h=9&mn=0 Martin
Since that post the web-page has been updated with ticket prices. For those for whom it matters, further details have now been added - including a contact telephone number for "Premium Tents" and news that a purchase limit of 10 VIP tickets per purchase has been set - no limit yet on General Admission - although a hint that one might be set. Can anybody in the know explain what a "premium tent" is? Do they actually have a view of the stage? Good luck with your attempt to buy tickets. Martin

Ah, found out what the premium tents are for the Kiss concert - so I'm assuming they will be the same for Paul's gig: http://halifaxrocks.ca/corporate.html Now all you need is 31 others to share the facility Martin

Thanks for the info, Martin. But I was wondering... an early bird price of $136 is listed on the page. How would one obtain a ticket (or tickets) at that price? Do I call that phone number?

This sounds like a different layout than was posted here earlier, I think ??
City works to limit Common damage during summer concert season GEOFF DAVIES METRO HALIFAX May 27, 2009 12:00 a.m. Be the first to comment Print article Text size The Halifax Common will host two major concerts within one week of each other in July, and the municipality is trying some new tactics to keep the field ship-shape. Shaune MacKinlay, Halifax Regional Municipality?s Manager for Public Affairs, said large parts of the North Common will be off-limits to cars and trucks involved in the concert preparations. Paul McCartney is performing at the Common Saturday, July 11, with Kiss taking the stage July 18. ?The real issue with the Common is not the number of people on it,? MacKinlay said about how concerts in the past damaged the field. ?It?s the tires that turn up the soil that have been the bigger issue.? Patrick Dickson, who supervises the maintenance of the Common, said the plan at this point is for McCartney and Kiss to both deliver their shows on a stage set up near the corner of Robie and Cunard streets. He said the roped-off area will be around some of the baseball diamonds along Cogswell Street. Dickson said the last time the Common hosted a concert, when Keith Urban came to town last August, it took three weeks to finish the bulk of the repairs, and the rest of the work won?t be done until mid-June. According to MacKinlay, part of the money from ticket sales for the McCartney and Kiss shows will be set aside to help with field repairs and improvements.

Yes. Come on Paul. We are starting to feel a bit neglected here. I did investigate going but the 17 hour flight from the UK has rather put me off!!!
It's only a 6-7 hour flight from the UK. Maybe the flights you were looking at had stop overs or something? Air Canada and Canadian Affair fly direct from London.

Don't call the phone number. Ticket Atlantic is very very small and there won't be many telephone lines. The web is your best bet.

I wonder how quickly these will sell out.I'm working that day and wont be home till 4 hours after they have gone on sale

So to get the early bird price, I'll just have to wait until Friday and then buy them from their site?
