Paul in Brazil - Through my eyes

Anyone who has been to Paul shows in the last couple years, knows that Charlie has a thing for filming certain fans .Although this was obviously not a fan. In the U.S ,it's a few Fans on the Run that he can't stop watching thru his lens . At one SC he spent the entire Sound Check in front of them , only filming their dancing etc . & believe me everyone noticed it .& as soon as the show started, there he was in front of them only.Theres more to Paul's fans than these few , you wouldn't know it by Charlie. Everything I have seen from these shows looked like everyone was having a great time , including Paul & band ....except for this awkward moment!

I think he needs to curb his enthusiasm.

I have never been on stage and to my knowledge never focussed on while filming. And frankly I don't care, that is not what I go to Paul shows for. So if this is your greatest concern, maybe you are not as big as of fan that you think yourself as.

I actually don't like when people go up to the stage because I feel like they're ruining a whole song just to make someone happy. What if Get back is someone's favorite song and wanted to listen to it live but someone sing with Paul and you feel disappointed. I'm ok with people giving gifts and not performing with Paul but I actually feel annoyed when someone performs with him (obviously I'm not against Springsteen or Billy Joel). A friend and I are trying to make him wear a hat for Obladi Oblada if he sings again with Mariachi, but I don't actually think I'd be happy performing or even being in front of thousands of people. So... fan or not fan, I wouldn't have liked the Brazilian girl dancing on stage.

Honestly, not harsh enough in all reality. What's going on here goes way beyond opinions....especially like to place value judgements on them. This poor girl that danced on stage. Who cares if she was a paid actor....the Get Back video where they supposedly followed around the fans the day of the show was staged, rehearsed and filmed. Nobody here knows what reason why she wound up on stage, whether it was staged as part of a upcoming video or something else. But right away, the girl is judged as per her worthiness of being a fan or not And then Charlie Lightning, Paul, and Paul's people are judged as to why they allowed it like there was anything wrong. If it's part of the video, I'd much rather have an actor who is going to play their part and do what they were told instead of some fan geeking out and doing something unpredictable. But god help us if we've even considered that because it being a bad thing is so much easier for some Then you want to take pot shots at people I know on how many times they've been on stage and how "greedy" they are. Or being a fans on the run person that have developed friendships with Charlie and then him filming them for his video. Funny thing, video is not done yet and much of the footage show will not make it into the final cut but Paul's people should check into what Char;lie is doing. You people are laughable. I don't agree with people trying to get on stage more than once and I have commented to them on numerous occasions. Some of these young, pretty girls that made it on stage once were still spoken ill of by some members on this forum as if they did something wrong for being picked. Some of the names that I have heard them called are despicable and untrue. But it's ok to talk about people who you know nothing about and call them negative names. Get over yourselves! Maybe folks should call folks like you out when comments like this are made and return the favor of judging those who judge others based on no information where is I am basing my judgements on those comments made. Maybe I woke on the wrong side of the bed today, but I have noticed this garbage for a long time and kept quiet about it. Maybe several of you should think before they speak and post something like that. I'm all for everyone having an opinion, and they certainly don't have to match mine. I have not criticized many opinions that differ from mine. But when you go that extra step to make a hurtful comment, it speaks volumes about the kind of person you are. And maybe a taste of being judged will change your thought pattern on making comments about other people. I have seen the hurt that several of you have inflicted upon folks that did not deserve what they got just because they were lucky enough to get on stage. Paul and his people pick, not the people who got on stage Remember, this forum is not in a vacuum and some of those folks are on this forum and others have friends on this forum, so those hurtful comments can and do make it back to them

If I understand correctly, the fans felt cheated 'cause Paul's staff tried to pass the actress on stage as a fan and not as a paid actress when it was all staged. I wasn't there in Salvador but the comments I've read from people who were is that it felt so fake... some people go through the trouble of thinking and creating cool signs for Paul -or Brian Riddle- to see and pay more than the average monthly salary in Brazil to be upclose. So for them to see a paid actress go on stage and trying to pass it as if she was a fan with a sign was a rub in the wrong way. Regarding people on stage, I think it is cute and a memory to last a lifetime for a fan lucky enough to get there. I don't mind them and it takes just a few minutes of an almost 3 hour long show. Regarding people who go on stage twice... well, twice lucky them, though I'd prefer someone who's never had the experience to get up there. Cheers, guys. Just my 2 cents.

My point being, nobody really knows the reason she was up there. Maybe it was just a continuing shoot from earlier in the day. Sounds more plausible than anything else. And last time I checked, Paul doesn't owe anybody an explanation if that's what it was. If their delicate sensibilities were offended then don't go to anymore of his concerts

Wearing a bikini top, small shorts and high heels, she's the perfect image of Brazilian beauty, right? Wrong. You should have seen the faces of all women that day in Salvador. They all looked confused. We couldn't believe that was happening at PAUL`S CONCERT. Yasmin (?) did her job indeed. She's not the problem. The problem is: we're fighting to overcome a stereotype and you're about to reinforce it. We're tired of hearing that everything in Brazil is about sex. And that idea only contributes to the violence we have to deal with day by day. Therefore, we'd like to ask you to rethink about the way you're going to show Brazil to the World. Do women have to stop being sexy because for you men think they have a right over our body? NO. My main criticism was the fact that THE FILM CREW work that was pretty clear in the big screens, zoomed in her butt many times and CLEARLY they wanted to show a "sexy brazilian girl", it was clear. Just watch the video. People that were there SAW Charlie laying down on the floor to record her butt. This is ridiculous. You don't live in a country with human trafficking issues, sexual tourism or minors working in the illegal prostitution world do you Bob? You don't live in a country that has to DEAL with these issues, do you? So don't even try to say I am being petty or I need a life, because I LIVE in a country that goes through that stuff and as a citizen, as ALL THE CITIZENS of this country, we've been trying to change the international eyes on Brazil as a sexual paradise FOR YEARS because it IS part of my life. So I am taking care of my life. So don't even try to tell me, or being rude towards my opinion. I know what this country suffers from the image being displayed like that. My critic was towards Paul's staff and film crew for what they did during the show. Not even bringing the actress or what she wore on stage, but what they CLEARLY recorded can be seen in the video. My "delicate sensibilities" are offended over the fear my cousins, my female friends, my friends' daughters go through everyday that you DO NOT have any idea, that were created by the international media and image that is shown of this beautiful country that has way more to offer other than beautiful bodies and beautiful women.

That's the whole point. They don't wanna change or stop showing how beautiful they are. They want to not be shown as a piece of meat. They don't want the camera zooming in their butts, and cleavage, and again the image that goes to the world, "look how sexy they are" "look how slutty she is for dancing like that" "brazilian women must be easy" It all comes from a distorted image the media shows, women got tired here, they live with it, and they spoke up. They wanna educate the men of the world to change a distorted image. I applaud the women of Brazil and I fully support them.

It's easy to say that, to teach them that Brazilian women are not easy, when you are not the one dealing with illegal prostitution, you are not dealing with sexual tourism. It's not OUR men, it's EVERY person that buys a sexual tourism package and puts money in an illegal activity that includes CHILDREN. We are talking about sick people. You're making it look like it's women fault and I'm taking it personal. It's never women's fault, NEVER. What are you gonna do? Making women wear hiyabs so men stop raping women? If she wants to shake her butt on camera she can, you don't have a say. It feels like I'm talking to someone from the last century blaming women for men's faults.

Hector, I respect your opinion, but I think your world view is somewhat tunnel visioned. To not think that there is human trafficking, illegal prostitution, minors engaged in prostitution, rape and other various other problems in the USA is shall I say......very naive. Do you think that Brazil lives in a bubble and that no other country has similar problems? While I will agree that cultures are different, those problems are not. Don't get me wrong, in my many dealings with men of Latin descent, there is definitely a derogatory mind set on women and that has to change And nobody here is saying that those problems listed are not horrible and should be stopped. But those problems are universal and all cultures should do their best to stop those actions. But this whole correlation to these problems and a video of a girl dancing on stage is quite ridiculous in my opinion. Not saying that the situation may be more dire in your country, but I think you've gone way over the top on this topic And Edith, you are 100% correct, it is not the woman's fault. However, it does not matter what you are dressed like or even what your body type in my experience. Those sick minds that have that thought pattern will rape. It may increase their appetite if a woman is scantily clad and dancing provatively but I have seen quite a few vicims in my time that were heavily clothed and not doing anything to provoke an attack We live in a world that unfortunately has inhabitants with sick minds. That is cross culture and world wide. Of course, it is more a problem if the culture that you live in accepts, promotes or even think that these action/ thoughts are ok.
