P.S. The encore song, one of my favorite Smiths' songs, was BRILLIANT! Great energy, roaring electric guitars, awesome lighting, and the audience went wild.

The Smiths songs are really awesome to hear, aren't they? He always has some funny quips to say doesn't he? Hope the trip was worth it for you!

The venue was a bit prison-like in that they literally patted you down when you walked in, went through your bags, told you cameras and recording devices were not permitted (cell phones, though, are okay... : ), etc., the opener was bit odd, but Morrissey's set made up for all of that. The crowd stood for the entire show, which was nice. Had he not played "How Soon Is Now," I'm pretty sure there would have been a riot.

Did security jump any stage invaders?

You bet. Every one of the guys in their 20's who ran up to hug Morrissey during "How Soon Is Now" got a nice little shove and toss back into the audience from security. As Morrissey said, "Security is here to protect you by kicking the s**t out of you."

if only Paul could keep the stage 'banter' as fresh as M, right?

Too true. The only part of the show I wasn't thrilled with was the video show during "Meat Is Murder". I'm already a vegetarian and have been for about 17 years now, and the PETA video playing during the show made me cringe and feel sick to my stomach. I know it was good for the carnivores in the crowd to see, but for those of us who are already on the bandwagon...
-
Yeah I know what you mean! It's painful to see. Gah... well at least it's for a 'good cause' really. Does he still have those videos showing before the show, then it has that list of bad things read out?

There are some videos, yes--a clip from a mobster film, some other black and white videos and songs. There was also what sounded like opera music as we exited the venue.

Yeah! He plays that all the time when the shows over. Any fighting over his shirt?

Yup.

All US tour dates have been postponed, M flew back to the UK to see his mother who's unwell. Get well soon!

Oh no!

Looks like I just snuck in that show before he cancelled, as the show after mine was his last US show. Phew!

I saw Moz this past Monday night here in Pittsburgh. (My first time seeing him.) Overall it was a good show, but I was a tad disappointed in the set list. I was really hoping to hear Suedehead, The More You Ignore Me, or The Last of the Famous International Playboys. I know that these are his most popular hits, but I feel like he should have played at least one of them. Heck, I would have even settled for Hairdresser on Fire or Glamorous Glue. I was very happy to hear a few Smiths songs. I didn't think he did those, so it was a nice surprise. He did show the video during Meat is Murder. To be honest it didn't really bother me, I just kinda sat down and ignored it. I'm not sure if this happens at his other shows or not, but a LOT of people from the crowd were jumping up on stage to give him hugs. Is this the norm, or did our venue just have lax security? Setlist 1/21/13 ?Shoplifters of the World Unite ?You Have Killed Me ?Speedway ?Every Day Is Like Sunday ?Action is My Middle Name ?Alma Matters ?Maladjusted ?Still Ill ?I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris ?Ouija Board, Ouija Board ?Black Cloud ?You're the One for Me, Fatty ?November Spawned a Monster ?To Give (The Reason I Live) ?I Know It's Over ?Let Me Kiss You ?Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want ?Meat Is Murder ?Encore: How Soon Is Now?
-
Yes, the stage invasion is common for Morrissey. He still does some hits, as the setlist shows, but like any concert really, you can't have it all. Didn't perform November Spawned A Monster when I saw him, would have liked that one. Though he did do 'Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me' .

News reports are saying Mozzer's been taken to hospital for what may be a bladder infection. Get well soon M.
-
A bit surreal to know that Morrissey is actually...human. I wish him all the best. The folks in Flint, Michigan can't seem to get a break. This past week was the second consecutive time that he had to cancel a show there.
