Happy Birthday to us!! So, here we are after 4 years...quite a journey, and as I said a few days ago---it's been a great trip from the start...and most of all been great to get to know the bunch of people that has gone trough this journey together! You're very special to me all of you! I thought I'd make a contribution today with a song I recorded really early in GW history, in a version with piano and vocals only... THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD (NAKED) http://rapidshare.com/files/308955001/The_Long___Winding_Road__NAKED__-_Bjorn_-_Global_Wings.mp3
Hi...I just listened to Oliver's rendition of "Are You Lonesome Tonight' and it was great!!, and I couldn't pass up an opportunity to hear your version of my all-time favorite Beatle tune 'The Long and Winding Road". You also did a fabulous job with that as well, Bjorn. You have such a nice voice and style....just great!!

Bravo, Gar'! Bravo! From the production, remastering, the artwork -- to the concept iself! It is very, very clear that you were inspired to document this small but important piece of McCartney-related history.

evie, just went to your Dangling Conversation on you tube. beautifully done. i see you have quite a few hits and you are gaining fans!! now how did you meet toytoy? i esp. loved the comment from the one lady who had given birth and she and her newborn fell asleep to it.
How did I meet him? Well I had seen his S&G covers and subscribed to him...then he knew of my existence apparently and some time later he contacted me about participating in the international "April Come She Will" thingy he had thought up...at first I was a little reluctant and to be honest, a little afraid, because he is just so good with music, but then in the end I did participate and from then on we kept e-mailing...and e-mailing...

The Only Living Boy in NY is one of my fav Simon and G songs ever, never in the greatest hits albums but one of the top ones for me. I like to sing it, especially the part of "I've got nothing to do today but smile"... Gary, I don't know how you can do things like In My Place in 50 minutes! I can record very fast but I spent 50 minutes in just deciding the reverb for the vocals...

well, here it is another original song of mine I've recorded... I don't think I have to explain much about the song... Make a Better World - original song
I've changed the mix, added more reverb to the vocals but lowing them down in loudness. For me this is the final mix. Who wrote these vocals??? crazy guy, this is like a mix of Twist and Shout and Queen's Gimme The Prize... Gimme The Prize
Make a Better World - original song -

HEY AUDI AND OLIVER!! This is GREAT!! Ok...Oliver is singing yes? and Audi you did the speech? I don't want to assume anything!! But I'm guessing Oliver has a Spanish accent and the Elvis talk sounded VERY American.... HEY...nice bass too... HAPPY GW DAY!!!
The speech is Audi, I could never do the speech that way, I sing the vocals and audi does all the rest

It didn't suit my voice, but I though, "If it doesn't suit, I'll try to make it suit". I guess Elvis did more than 20 takes for these one. I decided to stop earlier though. Thank you.

Okey, not so long ago I asked is there is kind of "rule" that make sense to use more or less reverb... What I've done is listening to the records I like its sound more. Most of them are Queen records. For "powerful" songs, they added a lot of reverb to Freddie's voice (Innuendo, The Show Must Go On, Hammer To Fall, the start of "Rock It") and for "sweet" songs, they just put no reverb or little (It's A Hard Life, Dear Friends, These Are the Days of Our Lives...). Like Paul has lots of reverb in Sing The Changes and nothing in Little Willow. That makes "sense" to me, it's how I like it. For instance in Innuendo, when Freddie sings .... "you can be anything you want to be", I prefer that without reverb... so I guess I should have added no reverb to the vocals of Are you lonesome tonight... what really has reverb on the original recording is the speech... It's like in movies, explosion, doors slamming, the laughter of the evil one... have lots of reverb... My 2 euro cents Queen-Innuendo

that reminds of I guy I knew who said he "tuned" his voice... : I asked why do (his band) sang all the songs in the key of A. And he said "because my voice is tuned in A", and he wasn't joking...

Don't forget that Gar played bass -- and remastered the recording to sound mind-blowingly pro!

I've changed again my new song. Those vocals were mixed way too loud. It's the same file name, though. BTW, all that about Are you lonesome tonight? has made me think of doing another "similar" song somehow. Mad World, you know, Tears for Fears original, covered by Gary Jules, then Adam Lambert, etc. Have the Global Wings made that one?

Hee hee - to be fair, it took me 50 minutes to do the backing. It took me considerably longer to do the vocals and bass.

Mad World IS a great song, and no, GW hasn't covered it. If you do as good a vocal on Mad World as you did on the Elvis number, it will be good.
