Withney Houston maybe should stop touring... What about Aerosmith??? Aerosmith-Crying (Argentina Live 2007)
hey, I'm a rock and roll fan, and I don't like Pop Idol shows... and I know hardcore Aerosmith fans will not agree with me... but I really think Adam Lambert does it better... just the same with Whole Lotta Love... -
Hey everybody! Lots of interesting stuff here, Evie, love your S&G renditions, and Homeward Bound is one of your best so far! Hey Ollie and Audi, Elvis topic here, like it, been a fan since I was 5 so, keep it up, and some music theory in this place can't hurt, right!?! Hmm, I can't remember anyone here doing a cover of Waterspout, never even heard of a cover of that song actually. While I'm rambling on, got a new cover on Youtube, a song by Glen Hansard of Swell Season, a perfect song in my ears, love the message of it! SAY IT TO ME NOW
Hope you enjoy it! -

Well, I'm an Elvis fan only since 2 years or so ago, so maybe many things I say are silly... Anyway, I think I've been analyzing too much "my divos"... ok, what do you think about Elvis timing? the way he starts to sing verses out of time... deliberately or not...?

Are you kidding?? He's got so much feel, groove, it's called syncopation!! That is the way a singer that is GREAT sing... and even though I haven't checked out all the clips posted, yes I know his 70's live stuff is perhaps slightly unfocused a occasions, he still had tremendous soul in is voice... I mean he is as Audi says so much "in the box" as you can be! So, deliberate?!? Well, he SINGS, that is deliberate!

Well, it seems I don't get the syncopation concept... All I say is like his singing more when he sings on time and doesn't do that... Well, in the start of Queen's Another one bites the dust, there's a similar thing, the famous bass line is kind of out of time and I guess that is that "funky" feeling... only Elvis did it always with all kinds of stuff.

Hey, I don't have a clue about "music theory"... I've just know..."my theory":lol and that's all. I sometimes use words that come from music theory... only to "translate" from mine... (and then to English :lol Like I someday I had to learn the name of the chords... "Ok, I'm playing a Csus4", but I just don't know what I'm playing, I must stop and think... "yes, that's the name, I think..." I've met people who said "I'm in 5th degree of Harmony", 5 years studying harmony!, what do they study?. Even Beethoven and Mozart were based on the 3 typical chords and variations from it... Maybe it's another thing I'm ignorant... Sometimes I'm tired of songs having too many chords and I sit down thinking "I'm gonna write a 3 chord song"

hey....i heard that...my ears were itchin' and i knew someone was saying something here. just got back from Disneyland. i'd like to sum up the place as...a very expensive amusement park that you spend all day in and only get on 4 rides...if you're lucky. but it was nice to get out of rainy/windy washington and wake up to palm trees and blue skies/80 degree weather. on the other hand, Disney World is in the same league only you get to go on 2 or 3 rides if you're lucky. also went to sea world which i LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD (i'm not a disney person) and to michael jackson's mausoleum (you can't get in but i wanted to 'be there' anyway as i adored him).

I'm great, all things considered. Right now, I'm helping my mom complete her relocation back to our hometown. She's retiring early from the military because of cancer. Both her parents are sick, too -- but everyone is living well despite these health setbacks. That's the abridged version of my recent events. On a lighter note, this thread will always have life as long as Oliver keeps insisting that Elvis sings ahead/behind the music.
-
so very sorry to hear about your mom. it's really hard to watch family go through rough ordeals. we used to have a huge family and now it's dwindled so much it's like 'we' hardly exist anymore BUT...the best you can do is enjoy everyone now while you can. my prayers for your mom. there are surely miracles out there. and i'm hoping for a recovery for a special lady who's raised such a great guy! you're a good son!!! yes, i have noticed this thread has been hijacked and is now the elvis thread! and it's a lot of you and oliver going back and forth! hee hee. i'lll have to check back more often. take care and best wishes for mom.

Hey Audi, I'm sorry about your mother's illness. You know about the PM I sent you, these are the kind of situations that show that "particular thing", you know, is needed for everyone. There are great doctors there in America. I hope everythings ends well and your mom is OK again.

you want it to keep it alive? I want it to keep it alive! (Get Back!) The timing thing , there are great, fantastic singers with bad timing... (even though...) I don't mean Elvis, now I'm not sure about what he did... but, for instance, most of the opera singers have bad timing... I don't think it's delliberate cause opera is very... close-minded... you must sing just what's on the score, you know... you can't add "your touch", or do "your version"... If you notice, every time Pavarotti sang Nessun Dorma, for instance, had a different timing... and he sang that quite a few times... so what? no singer is perfect, man... You know I'm not messing with Elvis, c'mon you know I subconsciously made him appear in my dreams to teach me how to sing high notes ( ), so you know I admire him... Ok, let me say I think Elvis had the best vibrato in rock and roll (maybe in music...), so no-one sang songs with long notes better than him (What now my love, Love me tender, All american trilogy, Blue Christmas, I'll remember you, The wonder of you, etc) (To me, the perfect (impossible...) singer would be something like Paul's magical timing and magical staccato, Elvis magical vibrato, Freddie's magical legato and Lennon's magical feeling...)
