Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors

year40:
It's amazing how much Southern Calif has been ignored in the past decade, especially compared to New York/Philadelphia/DC.
Well, let's check...He played the US Tour in 2005 both L.A. and Anaheim, in 2007 did the special show at Amoeba, in 2009 played at Coachella, in 2010 played Hollywood Bowl twice. Skip to 2013 - played Hollywood Blvd., and 2014 the Grammy Salute (yes I know they weren't full concerts). Not exactly ignored, but the Eastern side has definitely seen him more and bigger shows too. I'm surprised he hasn't played Dodger Stadium or Petco Park yet.

Here's hoping that the "NEW" tour will include San Diego (and Long Island).

It's just great hearing some sort of date. In the next few weeks I am sure we will be hearing something more concrete. He didn't really do the Southwest of the US last year which I found really odd, so I am hoping that he will be able to fit in LA or Phoenix or Vegas or New Mexico....and my dream would be San Diego since he hasn't played here since Wings in 1976 and we are the 8th largest city in America! Fingers crossed he does his magic in every corner of the world in the coming year. And makes a lot of people happy.
I am shocked Paul has not played San Diego since 1976. It is a MAJOR US city, regardless it being due south of LA. McCartney plays Nassau County in NYC, why not San Diego?
San Diego has really terrible concert promotion, and most major tours do not play here anymore. Recently U2, Springsteen, the Stones, and Paul have all skipped San Diego. They have all played Orange County though.

So whens this tour kicking off then?

Nothing officially announced yet. However, there is "talk" of a show in Uruguay in April...see prior post.

There is obviously a reason he skips places and I imagine its due to the promoters. Maybe he hasn't been asked to play San Diego or maybe venues there have said no. Its not like he is sandiegophobic and if they made it worth his while I am sure he would. Its not like he is opposed to playing (no pun intended) out there places.

Actually, I believe $2 million is the magic number. Last March, some New Mexico promoters did approach his handlers to do a show in New Mexico, and were turned down. They guaranteed $1 million for a show, which obviously was not sufficient, and McCartney ended up playing in Memphis on that date. I honestly don't believe Paul himself turned down the NM date. But, contrary to what McCartney says, being asked to play somewhere is not enough to make it happen. I agree with you, I don't think McCartney is Sandiegophobic or Newmexicophobic. But I also don't think he is very involved in determining his tour itineraries, or he probably WOULD play these places. I suspect he says something like, "I'd like to do some shows this year." And then an amount of shows and money is agreed upon. Then he is handed the dates and does them. His manager and promoters like Live Nation will make decisions like, "Why play New Mexico for 1 million when we can play Memphis for 2 million." And that is that. I do suspect McCartney will say negative things like, "I still won't play in Manila!"

If I was literally chased out of Manila I wouldn't go back either! Luckily there doesn't seem to be too many Manila residents on here asking why he doesn't go back. I also think Beatrice has a lot to do with his schedule but that's more about dates rather than location.

I just read on twitter that he could be playing Ecuador on April 29th. My Spanish is no good but it was Ecuador, 29th of April, something to do with television and lots of exclamation marks

I wonder what will happen between April 18 and 28? Hopefully more shows. There's room for two more.

His team is probably in negotiations with at least 3 or 4 different countries. I was told earlier today that the candidates are: Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. Argentina has not been mentioned yet.
