Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
-
Bob Gannon:
Brian Ray was on a U.S. talk show when he blurbed around 6 shows in November and then done for the year. And may be nothing happening Jan through March either as it is rumored that the bayonets might be doing something(s) live around that time
Thanks, Bob...guess Brazil will have the honor of opening and closing the "Out There" tour.

I was there for the opening of the tour and if the almighty gives me health, I'll be there for the closing

The initial batch of rumors, from the first post in this thread:
KingMacca:
So far: Australia, Japan, Brasilia and Salvador. Thought it would be time to make the thread.
It seems only one of those (Brasília) will come true, while another (Japan) almost made it, but that virus got in the way. Looking back, was 2014 as you hoped/expected, regarding his touring schedule? Did it surprise/disappoint you?

A huge disappointment that Europe didn't get a single show this year.

Disappointed. That he would play smaller markets like Lubbock and Missoula but ignore New Mexico has deepened my disenchantment.

That was certainly a surprise. Maybe he's saving Europe for a new tour in 2015?

He went to so many places in the US this year, maybe New Mexico will be of the remaining options in 2015?

Huge, huge disappointment, as was 2013. If he will close this tour already without having toured it properly, what's the point even. No new tour, just give us the current set.

Not sure what is meant by "toured it properly." By my count, he's done over 50 shows the last year and a half and has toured dozens of cities in the US, Canada, Asia, Europe and Latin America in 2013-14. He's done huge ballparks and venues at major cities like DC, Boston, LA and Chicago and he's played smaller, less marquis venues like Fargo, Missoula and Lincoln. Not sure what else people would be looking for, especially in a 2-year US tour. I of course am fortunate enough to have seen him twice in that stretch but still, I don't see much room for complaining. After all the guy is 72 and plays 3 hour sets and is still actively touring.

Not disappointed at all...was lucky enough to see Paul's latest tour in 2013 and 2014, experiencing both the pre-NEW and post-NEW setlists. I hope 2015 has Paul playing to fans that haven't had the chance to see him recently!

Well said. I was fortunate to see the Post-NEW stuff as a result of my relocation from DC to Florida last November. Either way, if all I got was 2013, I'd still have no room for disappointment.

Until he does, this is the Land of DISenchantment.

I expect a show in Albuquerque. If he can play Missoula, Fargo and Lubbock, he can play Albuquerque. No excuses.

My brother lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, no he did not go to the show because he was on vacation that week which was planned for well over a year. But talking to him the days and even weeks leading up to the concert as well as the days and weeks following the concert? All I can say is growing up in the Washington DC area or other major markets definitely spoils you. You would've thought they were gearing up to host the Olympics! The Paul McCartney concert this summer was arguably one of the biggest events the city of Lincoln has ever hosted. And for them, it truly was a once-in-a-lifetime event. Those are the stories about this tour that make you feel good. Yes I was fortunate enough to see him for the fifth time in my life just three nights ago. But 2014 will be remembered as the year that the "small guy" won.

And that's the point. Full-on America as always, and now Asia added for this tour. 64 shows! Just one in Austria, one in Poland and one in Verona, all crammed up in the same week 1,5 year ago. That's it for Europe. Not one gig in his homeland. That's not very "out there". That's what I mean with "touring properly", or not. Just like in 2010 during the 'Up & Coming'-tour, Europe got robbed. 'Venus And Mars'/'Rock Show', 'Letting Go', 'I'm Looking Through You', 'Two Of Us', 'Let 'Em In', all exclusivities. And the same will happen now, and already happened, with the songs for this tour, the songs many fans longed for when they got for the larger part the same old set when he still played over here in 2009-2012.

There's a rumor Paul might have been advised to take some time off the UK after the 2012 Olympics fiasco.

Massive disappointment re: touring plans.

What fiasco? I'm not familiar with that story.

Agreed! I traveled to see Paul a lot and was fortunate to see 5 Out There shows in 2013-2014. I loved both setlists and the New material. I only wish "Your Mother Should Know" made it from 2013 into 2014! My highlight was hearing "Long Tall Sally" at Candlestick.

The fiasco at the Olympics was the performance of "Hey Jude":
The video's description mentions that "THE DELAY/ECHO in the beginning of "Hey Jude" was because they (IOC) wanted Paul to lip sync/play over a backing track, but McCartney decided against it and played it completely live." -
