I thought that this would be an interesting topic... Who do you think should have a come back? This person should already have been famous at some point and could be a musician, film/television actor, comedian etc. Try to include pictures/ videos, and a brief description of who/what this person did and why he/she should have a comeback. Enjoy! ~~~ I'll start it off with my first pick: Dana Carvey. He was a former cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1986-1993 and stared in a few successful films like "Wayne's World", "Wayne's World 2", and "Master of Disguise". He also briefly had his own show, which was highly acclaimed and had a strong following of viewers, called "The Dana Carvey Show". It's most famous for being the starting point of Stephen Colbert' and Steve Carell's careers. I thought it was hilarious and it had some famous cameos (Regis Philbin, and David Letterman to name a few). However, he then focused on raising his family and has been out of the limelight since the late 90's-early 2000's while his former SNL friends became huge stars (i.e. Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, etc). Dana Carvey is excellent at stand-up and sketch comedy and does amazing impersonations (here he's doing Paul on his 1996 show:

. He recently Hosted SNL on February 5 ([url]http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/feb-5-dana-carvey/1285732/)) which was the most watched non-sports related event of the night. He is also going to have a starring role in an upcoming Adam Sandler film "Jack and Jill" (I hope this starts a comeback).

He used to do a version of 'Paul McCartney' too - although it was a slightly less than flattering 'pot head' version of Paul ops:

Here's a small sample of Dana doing his "Paul" impression (although it's not the full performance I'm looking for)

Wow. Well, I have to say, I didn't think that there were so many Dana Carvey fans out there! Its good to know because I have been a fan of his for years and was always interested in anything he did. I was extremely excited when he returned to host SNL and I definitely think that he should have his own show again. Honestly, though, to anyone who likes his SNL material I strongly advise that you watch his self-titled (and extremely short-lived) 1996 show "The Dana Carvey show". You can watch the whole series on youtube or you can buy it (with extra features) on DVD on

What about The Cure--I really fancied some of their songs Wonder if that Robert guy, the lead singer, still wears lip stick and heavy make up, 80's funky big hair and all black Gothic attire? I read The Cure are going to play some big upcoming rock festival. Maybe they don't need a come back after all. (?) Speaking of "comebacks"--I eagerly await Coldplay's new cd promised this year They'd not really hit the skids or lost all allure or whatnot, though, to need a real "comeback" from being on the "outs"-- Apropos of nothing: Meg Ryan is going with John Mellencamp. They make a right cute couple too. Seemed as if he'd be with his model wife Elaine Erwin forever, but, I guess not

Good one. On that same genre (as "the Cure") : The Culture Club and Dead or Alive could do with a successful comeback... The CC are giving it another go this year because of their upcoming 30th anniversary, so they're planning a tour this year and a new album for next year (2012). Boy George said this on the BBC. Lets see were this goes... Their last reunion (in 1998-1999) didn't do so well. And as for Dead or Alive: Although I'm not a fan of their outrageous image, they do make excellent music (I just hate how they release a new version of "You Spin Me round" on every album, though). By the way... Someone who I think the much of the macca community has forgotten that could use a comeback would be Denny Laine! It would be nice to see a macca-Denny reunion, for old times' sake... :

Yeah I thought about Boy George and the Culture Club too, wondering about them. Boy George really did (does? still?) have a fantastic singing voice, and I wondered why he fizzled out so fast. For one thing, he became a heroine addict, if true, and a member of a religious cult of some kind? Leon Russell recently made a comeback with a five star (from Rollingstone mag) album with Elton John. Leon Russell deserved to have a successful come back. I don't know if this cd of theirs burned up the charts, or if it snagged a Grammy recently.

THE CURE is big fave of mine aswell...very appealing and unique sounding band ..would love to hear more from them, and I also was impressed with BOY GEORGE's talent and band, despite his rather unique indiosyncricies to put it mildly And you remember Susy, you and I recently got into Leon's BIG come- back with Elton on a previous recent thread...that was fun, and good to revisit some of his older tunes aswell like Delta Lady, etc. Also agree with a Denny/Macca reunion ....I hope you weren't being faceceous with those rolling eyes. Yeah, that was a lot of fun, Lawdy Miss Clawdie! I wouldn't mind Denny Laine popping up again, I suppose. He must have had a lot of talent or else he'd not have been in Wings. I wish "The Talking Heads" would re-form. I liked them a lot, their music could really make me shake a tail feather, LOL, and was cerebral and artsy at the same time! Remember his "big suit," LOL

Hey Susy...that's right, Denny is a talented fellow...remember he was also in the Moody Blues and they weren't exactly chopped liver either Also, how about JOSE' FELICIANO?...haven't heard much from him in years. This guy virtually lit a "musical fire" within me to learn to play guitar when I was totally smitten with his unique hands-on guitar playing style, and absolutely fell in love with his awesome version of LIGHT MY FIRE....

Thanks on the quote complement, Claudia611! I feel that the quotes I chose could not only apply to Paul and music in general, but also to life... Anyway, the reason I put my 'rolling eyes' back there was because I knew a lot of people were going to be split on the idea and I was a cautious (maybe even a bit embarrassed) about bring it up, but I went through with it. I personally loved the songs Denny Laine contributed/co-contributed to Wings (i.e. "The note you never wrote", "Time to Hide", "Deliver your Children", "No Words", "Mull of Kintyre" etc). That, as a matter of fact, is how I became a major McCartney fan: I noticed that most of my favorite Beatles songs were by Paul's, so I gave his solo/Wings stuff a try and loved it! The only thing with Denny is that he never found major success as a solo artist, which is a shame. I'm glad that you seem to be enjoying this thread Claudia611 and that you've seemed to like most of the artist mentioned here. It had been a long time since I was last on 'macca.com' (mostly because it has been over a month and a half since they have posted anything worth reading up on the main site) and when I wanted to come back and post something I really wanted it to be about a topic that I found interesting. I'm glad someone did... I love when forgotten (and talented) artists have comebacks, so I wondered who everyone here would want to see back in the lime-light.

Little late coming to the thread but I'm also a fan and thought I'd share my Dana Carvey encounter...He came into the store I work at a few years ago. I would have figured him to be one of those celebrities that was just a 'normal' guy in person, but he was really kinda strange. He had the baseball hat pulled way down and glasses sporting the 'incognito celebrity' look. He is a real tiny guy and he literally looked like he was trying to 'shrink' whenever anyone came near him. He would slide up real close to the wall and hunch his shoulders in like he was expecting someone to take a lash to him. His wife was really sweet and did all of the talking...I just made like I had no idea who he was because he was so obviously uncomfortable in public. He wasn't rude or anything...he just looked like the most timid man on Earth. I think maybe he doesn't want to be a celebrity at all.

Your avatar pic always brings a smile ...I use to watch the show religously, and also use to croon out the beginning theme song every time it came on..my musican boyfriend at the time was duly impressed..lol. Nice to have another Denny Laine fan on board besides MERSYJAMES and meself....I just thought Denny was such a nice contrast to Paul in the group (cutie too), and I simply loved his mysterious, hauntingly beautiful songs, some of them, and others, a bit on the cool and funky side of things, case in point TIME TO HIDE. Had to have a bit that this morning now that I mentioned it....Enjoy aswell !

Susy, I know you agree with me on this one...we had sort of an ESP about this song I'm about to post not long ago. Speaking of which, Suze, I haven't had any more "BATHERS" since the other day I told you about, that you got a charge out of ..lol. Seems I'm getting more computer hauntings again...whilst' I was minding me own business typing an e-mail, all the sudden I could sense and hear what sounded like someone casually having a bath, and leisurely splashing water round themselves intermitantly (no verbals tho').. I mean it just came out of nowhere??? and I virutally had to shut the computer down to get rid of it Anyway, I very much digress here....so here's the song by Herb Albert that Susy and I are so fond of. THIS GUYS IN LOVE WITH YOU - Herb Alpert

oooooh yeah ol' Herb's quite a looker, Claudette (LOL), I remember us getting off on him in here a while back. He's tall for a Mexican, like the late Ricardo Montalban (remember Ricardo chewing the scenery quite amusingly in one of the first Star Trek movies?). Glad you reprised this number from Herb. he's sexy without even trying! I wonder if Mary Hopkin can still sing--apparently she fizzled out too soon after her heyday. If she hasn't messed up her vocal chops with ciggies and booze it would be cool if she re-emerged on the scene. I thought Mary Chapin Carpenter could really sing and wonder what happened to her. I wonder what happened to Juice Newton and Crystal Gayle. Crystal Gayle could really sing
