" A Female Paul McCartney"??
-
An artist heard tonight in concert on PBS proved so bedazzling, sounded so wonderful, with virtually every song of hers sounding like a masterpiece although I'd never heard them before, her voice stunning, so emotional and intense yet angelic--I imagined I heard Paul McCartney singing her songs with her (and the pair sounded so great together!), could somehow hear him singing along with her. Some of hers reminded me of his "Ram" period crossed with "C & C" the very best songs on those, and of his greatest bucolic numbers "Mother Nature's Son" "Heart of the Country" and that ilk. I want to get every song this singer has ever written and sung. I'm speaking of Tift Merritt, a North Carolina native...she should be bigger than Taylor Swift being infinitely more talented and brilliant--Tift Merritt overwhelmed me with her work's grandeur, and her band was so tight and flowing with slide guitars too, really good musicians and she plays guitar and piano, maybe more. Her latest album is "Traveling Alone" a quite exquisite jewel. I'd heard of her before but had no idea she is this great. She has so much heart and soul. I even thought to myself "almost everyone else sounds like dog food compared to her, their songs nothing compared to hers"

A female Paul McCartney?

I meant music-wise, Al Saba : This Tift Merritt girl blew me away. I wish Macca himself would check out her music. She is more than worthy of being heard by him

Too me, the 'next Paul McCartney' (female or male) would have to have the entire package of being a great song writer, composer, can sing like Robert Plant, Barry Manillow or any style in between (on command), have the looks, that gifted musical ability to pick up almost any instrument and play it at the very least, service-able on a professional level, while being legendary on several of those instruments (such as Paul is on guitar and bass)...and lets not forget the general showmanship Paul has as well as his music and business savvy-ness

Tift Merritt's songs knocked me out as much as some of Paul's. I'd never heard her before. I'm obsessed with wanting to get all her albums now. I heard Paul singing along with her on just about all the songs she did in the PBS concert, I was so blissed out Why'd I hear him singing with her, in my head? She must be about as good as him, I deduced.
