How's it going Beatles fanatics? I hope that all of you had a great Christmas. I just found out about the passing of British singer George Michael! He died on Christmas Day at the age of 53. In the early 1980's, George Michael, along with a school friend, Andrew Ridgeley, formed the band WHAM and would skyrocket to stardom with the hit "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." However, WHAM would be short lived and Michael would move on as a solo artist thus becoming even more successful. George Michael released many great songs during his extraordinary career which spanned nearly 4 decades. Michael sold nearly 100 million albums worldwide. His songs, including hits such as "Everything She Wants," "Careless Whisper," "I Want Your Sex" and "Faith" just to name a few, sold in the millions! I have also read on the internet that the movie MUSIC AND LYRICS, which stars the beautiful Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant, is based on the story of former WHAM member Andrew Ridgeley. I will keep everyone informed as to the cause of death. Some of the media are stating that Michael died of Heart Failure, I hope its not more than that. If any of you find any information on the cause of death, please comment on this thread. R.I.P. Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, A.K.A. George Michael, Born 25 June 1963, Died 25 December 2016 at age 53.

There was a DJ named Gary McKee here in Atlanta in the mid-'80s who used to do the morning show and he had a WHAM! parody he'd play: "Wake me up, McKee, you bozo."

Paul has made a comment. https://www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/paul-on-george-michael-and-rick-parfitt "George Michael's sweet soul music will live on even after his sudden death. Having worked with him on a number of occasions his great talent always shone through and his self deprecating sense of humour made the experience even more pleasurable."

I really like that duet; listened to it several times, today. Also, the 2005 Live Aid. He seemed to be loving it! It's been revealed that George Michael bought the last piano used by John, and anonymously donated it to the Beatles Story in Liverpool. Apparently, he was a fan, and is rumored to have bought lots of other memorabilia.

Hi jonh81! How are you? I took a girlfriend to see George Michael in 1983, that was the only time I ever saw George Michael live! Michael was very talented.

Hi Nancy! How are you? Is McKee still a DJ on the radio in Atlanta? I wonder how McKee feels about Michael's death? That's a pretty good parody!

Another great talent gone. It feels like 2016 has taken my childhood and young adulthood and stomped on them, chopped them to pieces and set them on fire. Muhammad Ali. George Martin. Glenn Frey. Prince. Bowie. Arnold Palmer. John Glenn. Elie Weisel. Merle Haggard. Gene Wilder. I can't even.
