What Keeps You Coming Back?
-
I'm onto my third McCartney show this summer, and was wondering what it is about it that all of you like, and keeps you coming back. For me, I feel at peace with myself. I feel like the world is a better place when I'm at a McCartney show. (Also dancing all night long) What about you? What do you love about seeing Paul?
-
I've seen Paul seven times, and I will see him a couple of more times this summer. What keeps me coming back is just taking in the fact that I'm seeing a musical legend perform songs that have been a part of my life seemingly forever. Because of that, I want to see him as many times as I can for as long as he continues to tour.
-
I feel totally at home at a Paul concert - everyone there loves him. No one thinks you are strange!
-
I feel that I belong at hos concerts. It's always the best days of my life and he always leaves you wanting to come back and see him over and over.
-
Time is running out.

This will be my 8th time. I have loved Paul's music since I was 11, way back in 1973. His music makes me so happy, and hearing him perform it live and being able to experience it is *magical*. Some concerts have been more special than others, but I always leave on such a high (and no, not the naughty weed).

I don't agree that everyone there loves him. Someone said in another thread that there are many forst timers at the concerts. And many of those people jus.t want to see a "Beatle". Many have not followed his career at all.

The music!

He's one of The Beatles. And he's continuing the legacy. It is true and he still believes in it. That's why I go see him.

That's easy. it's the feeling that comes from the crowd. One of pure joy and happiness. There's almost a sense of euphoria. it's a cool mix of people too. You have fans who see him often. You have first timers who are so thrilled to so him. You have some that are there just because it is the place to be. But my absolute fav are the multi-generational families that come. i was sitting next to one of those at Wrigley with 3 generations of a family seeing the show for the first time. That was just cool to watch and experience. I'm seeing Macca in Atlanta and i get to take my 11-yr old son. I am looking more forward to seeing my son's reactions than I am to the music itself. if he would throw Appreciate into the set since that is my son's fav song of the NEW album I can't even imagine the reaction. I know some of the grizzled fans get tired of some of the same songs. But you have to step back and realize that at any given show roughly 75-80% of the people there are seeing him for the first time, and over 50% are likely seeing him for the only time they will see him - so for them, to hear those songs that are sort of the war horses has a huge impact for them and to Macca's credit even though he has performed them hundreds of time, he does not phone it in. Hi KingMacca! Sorry, Im from Argentina, and Im new on this, but I would like to reply your question. Im a Beatles and Macca fan since 1975, and I thought I coulnt have NEVER the joy of seeying him alive, cos in those times he didnt came to South América. But fortunalelly after 17 years, he come to Buenos Aires, and I could go to see him! Unfortunatelly we had to wait 17 more years to see him again, in 2010. And that was the 2nd and the last time he d came to our country. Anyways I could go to the 2 concerts he did in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 2012, and last April 2014. I have not enough money to follow him to more countries, like some people do... So I hope he could came here again, soon, at least one more time!! I like going to his shows because he s really AMAZING, and better each time!!!!

I will hit my 6th and 7th shows for Paul McCartney in 2014...maybe even 8. I'm making up for lost time. I never got the chance to see Wings or even the World Tour lineup. My first chance to see Paul was the US tour in '05, and I didn't get tickets...I was still in high school and didn't have the money. All good things must come to an end, and when Paul's day is done, I don't want to be kicking myself that I missed the opportunity to share in the experience as much as I could afford to. Being an Elvis Presley fan, I know many Elvis fans who thought he'd be around forever and wish they had seen him in concert more often. They never got that opportunity, nor did I. When I go to Paul's shows, I know there are other fans there like myself and there is a sense of community for that night...and I am awe-stricken at Paul's hold over an entire stadium or arena every time. It will never come again. This is the guy who single-handedly influenced me to pick up a bass and learn how music works. Without ever meeting or knowing him personally, he has opened so many doors for me. I will support and play and promote and listen to the music of Sir Paul McCartney (and The Beatles, Wings, etc.) for the rest of my life.

Did you go wo high school with other students who liked Paul/Beatles, or were you by yourself in this regard?

This summer will be my 9th and 10th shows since 2002. I keep coming back because of the remarkable emotional effect each one of his concerts has on me. I'm fortunate enough to have been a Senior in high school in 1964. I have always loved The Beatles and his Wings and solo work but I never expected the emotional high that results from his concerts. It's addictive.
