Yeah Macs, Dylan only knows how it's meant to be sung, I think he's a damn good vocalist. Lennon/McCartney are my number 1's but then one of Bob's magic lyrics really makes me reconsider.
I like Dylan voice, not as good as it was but he's getting on a bit

I was a big fan of Bruuuuuuuuce up until Born in the USA came out, while i was falling away he became massive lol fav albums - Greetings from Asbury Park NJ, Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town & The River.
To each his/her own.....you either love him or hate him......I happen to loooooove him! One of Jersey's Cardinal rules....
I still buy the odd album by The Boss, the last being The Promise, I still like him just not as much as i use to

I can only imagine people are not voting for Wings because the question is not 'Best band before the Beatles'? So do you all really prefer Queen, Abba and the Bee Gees to Wings? At least George had a sensible suggestion.
I don't quite get what you mean since Wings came after The Beatles. I would choose Wings, then Badfinger as my answer. (I also liked The Bee Gees, Queen and lots of others in the 70's)
I took the question to mean, who is the best band after the Beatles, as in. Who is your fav after the Beatles e.g Fav band Beatles and then who....
A tie between U2 and Nirvana. Their contribution to re-revolutionizing rock-music cannot be overstated.

The Stones...they got that by default after the Beatles broke up. Wings The E Street Band The Who Led Zeppelin

A lot of unusual choices here!!! 1. The Beatles 2. Led Zeppelin 3. The Beach Boys 4. The Doors 5. Queen ...that's my top five.

There's a whole group of bands that are being overlooked in this thread. My exposure to the world's greatest bands are not limited to the legends of rock. Looking back on my life, I couldn't imagine it without Parliament/Funkadelic, The Gap Band, The Isley Brothers, Rufus & Chaka -- and all of James Brown's rhythm sections. Hugely influential music to me.

Audi some of my favorites in that musical genre have been Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, The Ohio Players, The O'Jays, The Temptations, The 4 Tops, and The Spinners.

Some important records came from those acts -- I love each and every one of them! However, only one of them is -- technically -- a band, and I'm super-duper impressed that you've mentioned them: The Ohio Players!! Yo go, girl! The rest of them are what I consider to be vocal groups -- not that their hits are any less significant.

You're right Audi, I was just thinking of "groups" not bands! Do you remember the dance "the bump"? We used to love to do that to Fire by The Ohio Players (in 1975 I believe) I had a boyfriend who could actually dance (and his name was Paul!!)

I was a teeny, tiny lilttle boy then, but I remember The Bump. My mom used to do it with my brother and me.
