David Bowie and Prince in the same year seems a bit much. The Illuminati must be very angry...

REmember this performance? R&R Hall of Fame. Make sure to watch the very end! Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

It's been a tough year...a few others have gone as well

Very sad to hear about Prince. My favorite song he did was Batdance from Tim Burton's film Batman. I remember asking my mother to rewind the tape to hear the song again and again I drove her nuts with it lol. But my mom liked Prince too. Now a days though it is not surprising that celebrities are dying at a young age. George Harrison was only 58 when he passed away. And also the actor Heath Ledger who played as the Joker in Batman The Dark Knight.

Another one bites the dust--another tragic loss in the music world and to the world Prince's prot?g? Vanity also passed away this same time of year and at age 57, like Prince (read that online). Isn't she the one who co-starred in "Purple Rain"? Or was it Appallonia? Seems like everybody saw that movie back then. And had the soundtrack, even if they didn't fancy his music all that much. (Sort of similar to the "Saturday Night Fever" phenomenon.) Although so 80's, did Prince continue to grow and evolve as an artist, or did he keep sounding real Eighties? He's regarded as a genius by a lot of listeners.

A real shocker about Prince, sadly never got the chance to see him in concert, everything he wrote was golddust , and giving away top songs to other artists. There wont be anyone like him again .

I am really kicking myself now I didn't go see him last month in Oakland when he announced that last minute arena concert. I was considering it and didn't end up going.

Sad news indeed,I'm still in shock about all this. Gone to soon. Hes the same age as my dad when he passed away. He will be missed

I wasn't a major Prince fan but always liked his stuff when it came on the radio, and this news just smacked me between they eyeballs. If you lived through the '80s, those early hits were just a part of your soundtrack. What a loss, and too damn young. Enough deaths already. We've had enough in the last 6 months or so to last for several years.

I'm numb. Just numb. I just can't believe this. Paul become my passion at age 4 and Prince became my Passion at age 15. Just like with Paul, I traveled to see Prince, and started taking my kids to see him when they were 5. I'm thankful for all the times I was in his presence, including 3 times in the last 2 months. When he left the stage last month at 4:15 am after a nearly 3 hour after show in a small club in San Francisco, I never could have imagined that that would be the last time I would ever see him. When Bowie died I actually had a conversation with my kids, and told them I didn't know how I would handle it when my first musical love passes on. But I never in my wildest dreams thought that Prince would be gone so soon. I really thought that someday I'd be taking my grandkids to see him (like in 10 years or so--my kids are still in high school and college). So buy the tickets, travel to see who you love, and make the effort, because we don't know what tomorrow will bring.

I am not a fan of Prince. All I know is he was T.A.F.K.A.P. who sang Betcha By Golly. But my favorite artists paid tribute to him. He must be good.
