METAL ALL-STARS TO RECORD RELIEF SONG FOR STEVE GRIMMETT As well as a special fundraiser show in Steve Grimmett's hometown of Swindon which is planned for April 1st and organised by Brian Keene at Riff's Bar, a special collaboration of Metal artists are coming together to record Grim Reaper material in an effort to help raise additional funds for Steve's rising medical and recovery costs. Spearheaded by Venom Inc.'s Tony Dolan, former Anthrax vocalist Neil Turbin, Jimmy Kay of Canada's The Metal Voice and Sy Keeler of Onslaught, contributors currently include Gary Holt (Exodus), Tim 'Ripper' Owens (ex-Judas Priest), Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden), Doro Pesch, Lips (Anvil), Marta Gabriel (Crystal Viper), Jonas Hornqvist (Bleed The Hunger), Ross The Boss (Manowar), Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth (Overkill), Jimmy Mantas (Venom Inc.), Nick Bowcott (ex-Grim Reaper), John Gallagher (Raven), Mantas (Venom) and more to be announced soon. The recording will be produced by Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Anvil) and bands for the Swindon event will be announced shortly. LORRY CRASHES INTO DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN TOUR BUS The Dillinger Escape Plan have been involved in a major accident after a lorry crashed into their tour bus. THE SOPHIE LANCASTER FOUNDATION RECEIVES GOVERNMENT FUNDING The Sophie Lancaster Foundation will receive ?50,000 from the UK Government to support and develop their work challenging prejudices that lead to hate crime. The Department of Communities and Local Government recognises the work the foundation has been doing in schools, colleges and with young offenders and for the first time are funding the foundation to enable them to further their reach. 'RHINO' EDWARDS ANNOUNCES UK TOUR, RICK PARFITT CHARITY RELEASE AND JOHN COGHLAN NEWS Taking time out from Status Quo's hectic touring schedule, bass player John 'Rhino' Edwards has announced a headlining tour of the UK and Europe for his band Rhino's Revenge, this coming May. As previously reported on MetalTalk.net, Lancashire noise monsters Massive Wagons have written a new single, 'Back To The Stack', in tribute to one of their musical heroes, Status Quo legend Rick Parfitt. A studio version of the single is now scheduled for release on Monday 24th April, with all proceeds from the sale of the track going directly to the Teenage Cancer Trust. British rockers Walkway recently recorded a version of the evergreen Status Quo track 'Rain' as a very special tribute to Rick Parfitt, with none other than original Status Quo drummer John Coghlan.
