Motorhead's Final Munich Shows To Be Released On CD, DVD And Blu-Ray In May They were the Kings of the Road. They lived on it. They loved it and the fans loved them! Never was the spirit of Motörhead more alive than when they were on tour, shake, rattle and rolling audiences to within an inch of their lives thanks to that indomitable cocktail of power, purpose and head-crunching volume. In fact, after four decades of bone-pulverizing duty, Motörhead were still enjoying sold-out gigs worldwide. On November 20th and 21st 2015, at the Zenith in Munich, Germany, UDR Records made the decision to record what happened to be the very last live shows ever recorded Iiand Motörhead proceeded to deliver two storming sold out shows. Where there had once been almost too-fast breakneck pace, there was measured yet still thunderous rock n' roll served up only as they could, Phil Campbell playing better and better and Mikkey Dee elevating the art of drumming to the superlative heights which made him one of metal's most coveted skinsmen. 'Clean Your Clock' will be released on May 27th 2016. Meanwhile, Phil Campbell releases his first single as a solo artist this Friday, 1st Aptil 2016 and we'll have full details on the day. It's Official: Axl Rose To Front AC/DC On Upcoming Tour Axl Rose will front AC/DC when the legendary rockers resume their "Rock Or Bust" world tour next month. The European stadium tour dates begin on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal and run through June 12 in Aarhus, Denmark, as previously announced. Following this European run of dates with AC/DC, Axl Rose will head out on his GUNS N' ROSES "Not In This Lifetime" summer stadium tour. The ten postponed AC/DC U.S shows will be rescheduled and announced imminently, also with Axl Rose. Guitarist Angus Young and his AC/DC bandmates scrapped some of their recent North American dates after doctors told singer Brian Johnson he faced "total hearing loss." Commented AC/DC in a statement: "AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. "As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment." Brian Johnson has released the following statement: "As many AC/DC fans know, the remaining shows for the 2016 AC/DC 'Rock Or Bust' world tour, including 10 postponed U.S. shows, are being rescheduled with a guest singer. I want personally to explain the reason because I don't believe the earlier press releases sufficiently set out what I wanted to say to our fans or the way in which I thought it should be presented. "On March 7th, after a series of examinations by leading physicians in the field of hearing loss, I was advised that if I continue to perform at large venues, I risked total deafness. While I was horrified at the reality of the news that day, I had for a time become aware that my partial hearing loss was beginning to interfere with my performance on stage. I was having difficulty hearing the guitars on stage and because I was not able to hear the other musicians clearly, I feared the quality of my performance could be compromised. In all honesty, this was something I could not in good conscience allow. Our fans deserve my performance to be at the highest level, and if for any reason I can't deliver that level of performance, I will not disappoint our fans or embarrass the other members of AC/DC. I am not a quitter and I like to finish what I start. Nevertheless, the doctors made it clear to me and my bandmates that I had no choice but to stop performing on stage for the remaining shows and possibly beyond. That was the darkest day of my professional life. "Since that day, I have had several consultations with my doctors and it appears that, for the near future, I will be unable to perform on stage at arena- and stadium-size venues where the sound levels are beyond my current tolerance, without the risk of substantial hearing loss and possibly total deafness. Until that time, I tried as best as I could to continue despite the pain and hearing loss but it all became too much to bear and too much to risk. "I am personally crushed by this development more than anyone could ever imagine. The emotional experience I feel now is worse than anything I have ever in my life felt before. Being part of AC/DC, making records and performing for the millions of devoted fans this past 36 years has been my life's work. I cannot imagine going forward without being part of that, but for now I have no choice. The one thing for certain is that I will always be with AC/DC at every show in spirit, if not in person. Most importantly, I feel terrible having to disappoint the fans who bought tickets for the canceled shows and who have steadfastly supported me and AC/DC these many years. "Words cannot express my deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks not just for the recent outpouring to me personally of kind words and good wishes, but also for the years of loyal support of AC/DC. My thanks also go to Angus and Cliff for their support. "Finally, I wish to assure our fans that I am not retiring. My doctors have told me that I can continue to record in studios and I intend to do that. For the moment, my entire focus is to continue medical treatment to improve my hearing. I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic. Only time will tell. "Once again, my sincere best wishes and thanks to everyone for their support and understanding." DEEP PURPLE DRUMMER IAN PAICE SUFFERS A STROKE IN SWEDEN; MISSES PURPLE GIGS FOR THE FIRST SINCE SINCE 1968 FORMATION Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice has suffered a mini stroke, also referred to as a TIA (Transient Ischaemic Attack. This happened on the morning of 14th June (Tuesday this week), the day that Purple were scheduled to play in Stockholm. The Stockholm gig, last night's Gothenburg show and tonight's performance in Horsens, Denmark were all cancelled. This is the very first time that Ian has missed a Deep Purple gig since they formed in 1968. Ian made a statement which you can read in full below: "To all the people who were expecting to see Deep Purple in Sweden and Denmark this week I would like to let you know the reason the shows were not possible, and also to stop all the speculation and rumours. "On the morning of the 14th of June I woke up to find that the right side of my body was feeling numb and I could not control my right hand and fingers. So I had myself admitted to hospital where I was diagnosed with having suffered a 'mini stroke', or TIA. The hospital staff in Stockholm were amazing and started my treatment straight away. After both CT and MIR scans there was found to be no serious or permanent damage. As of this moment all I am suffering is a slightly numb right side of the face a tingling sensation in my right hand. My dexterity in the hand is coming back quickly and I fully expect to re-commence touring next month. So now I have a set of tablets which have to be taken every day to ensure it doesn't happen again! So sorry for not being able to play for you. And I'm sorry for myself! These are the first shows I have missed with DP since its formation in 1968. "Thanks to all the people who have shown concern and sent their best wishes. -Ian Paice." RICK PARFITT OF STATUS QUO SUFFERS HEART ATTACK AFTER TURKEY GIG In the early hours of Wednesday 15th June 2016, following the Status Quo gig at Expo 2016 in Antalya, Turkey, Rick Parfitt suffered a suspected heart attack. He is being treated in a hospital in Turkey and whilst his condition is serious, he has already demanded his customary cup of tea with two sugars and a sweetener. The band had already agreed to perform at the Rock On Windermere charity show on Saturday 18th June to raise funds for the Cumbria Flood Appeal. Rick and the band did not want to cancel this important show and so it will go ahead with Freddie Edwards, the son of Quo bassist John "Rhino" Edwards, stepping in for Rick. It is likely that Freddie will stay with the band to allow them to honour their commitments and not let down the fans up to and including the show on Sunday 3rd July at Gr?na Lund Tivoli, in Stockholm, Sweden. Simon Porter, the band's manager said: "No further comment will be made at this stage until the completion of the next round of tests and assessments to be made over the next few days. We would ask you to respect the family's privacy at this difficult time." Source: http://www.metaltalk.net/news2016sg/2016261.php

IT'S TIME TO GET 'DOWN DOWN' TO BUTLINS AS SECOND STATUS QUO FAN CLUB CONVENTION IS ANNOUNCED IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT WANTS TO ROCK? The official Status Quo Fan Club (From The Makers Of... (FTMO)) have announced their second ever International Status Quo Fan Club Convention which is due to take place back where it all started for the band, Butlins in Minehead, between Friday 13th and Monday 16th October 2017. It was in 1965 that Quo stalwarts Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt first met at Butlins in Minehead with Rossi inviting Parfitt to join the band shortly after, so where better to celebrate Quo's longevity than with a Quo weekend at Butlins! The weekend will feature live music from ex-Quo drummer John Coghlan and his band with long time friend of the band, Jackie Lynton (who famously introduced them on Quo's 'Live!' album) also scheduled to appear. A number of tribute bands have been lined up to provide entertainment including Scotland's own Quo tribute band Backwater along with Quo-Incidence and Quo No!, along with Sweden's Sound Of Status plus special appearances by ZZ Top tribute act, The ZZ Tops, Glam Rock and 1970s tribute band Glamdads and a performance from hard rockers Predatur. All the events will be compered by renowned music journalist and author Mick Wall and there will be more bands and surprises confirmed in the run up to the actual event. STEVEN ADLER JOINS GUNS N' ROSES ON STAGE IN OHIO: FOUR FIFTHS OF 'APPETITE' LINE-UP PLAY TOGETHER FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1990 As we reported on Wednesday (6th July 2016), the Guns N' Roses Not In This Lifetime Tour is proving to be a major success up to now but the band upped the tempo even further in Cincinnati, Ohio on the sixth date of the 25-date run when Steven Adler joined his former band on stage to perform 'Out Ta Get Me' and 'My Michelle'. The Cincinnati incident was Steven's first appearance with Guns N' Roses since the Farm Aid gig in 1990. Rob Gardner is the "original" Guns N' Roses drummer but Steven Adler replaced him in the same year that the band was formed, 1985, and appears on all of the band's releases from 1986s debut release, 'Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide', right through until he was formally fired in 1990. STATUS QUO'S RICK PARFITT 'AIN'T COMPLAINING' AS HE WORKS TOWARDS FULL HEALTH Status Quo have released a further health update on Rick Parfitt who took ill last month. It was in the early hours of Wednesday 15th June 2016 following the Status Quo gig at Expo 2016 in Antalya, Turkey, that Rick suffered his suspected heart attack. He was airlifted back to the UK on Sunday 19th June and has kept a low profile since. The band's manager, Simon Porter, told us: "Rick is now making an excellent and steady recovery from an extremely serious life threatening situation following a Quo show in Turkey last month. He has now had a defibrillator fitted into his chest in order to regulate any future heart issues and has left hospital in order to recuperate with family and friends. "Although I am now happy to report that his medical team anticipate that Rick will make a full recovery, it will likely be a long and ongoing process. To this end, Rick has given his full blessing for the band to continue with the current summer touring schedule utilizing guest guitarists. "Freddie Edwards, son of Quo bass player John 'Rhino' Edwards has successfully stepped in for Rick over recent gigs and will now continue for the majority of Quo's shows during July and August, the current exceptions being gigs in Leuven, Belgium and Edinburgh, Scotland on 20th July and 23rd July, where Irish guitarist Richie Malone will step in."
