Deep Purple and Cheap Trick To Be Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Chicago and Steve Miller are amongst the artists who will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on 8th April 2016 during a ceremony at Brooklyn, New York's Barclays Center, with tickets on sale to the public in February. The Deep Purple members that are being inducted are: Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. Asked if he thinks that makes sense to bring in those people, Paice told Rolling Stone: "I suppose it does. Realistically, you'd like to think that anyone who was ever in the band made a contribution and should really be listed. It doesn't matter if they were there for an album or two; everyone who was in the band actually contributed to the fact we're still there. All these people, from the very beginning to the current lineup, [have] helped maintain Purple as a viable touring entity that a lot of people around the world really enjoy. So to pick some over others, I wouldn't have done it that way." Paice also agreed that part of the problem why it's taken so long for Deep Purple to get inducted is the fact that so many voters are in America and Deep Purple was never quite as big in the U.S. as the band was overseas. He said: "Of course, that does effect what people are aware of. If you're not seen on the U.S. touring circuit very often, then why would U.S. voters pick you? It's not a criticism. It's just a reality of life. Certain parts of the world have different musical tastes now. I'm not saying there aren't a lot of rock and roll fans in the States, but what is covered by the media and what is thrown in front of people by TV, like the flavor of the month, segregates things quite badly." He continued: "We'll do a show where we'll have a wonderfully mixed audience of kids in the front, then people that are slightly older until you get right to the back. In other countries, you just have an audience of more mature people or just kids. It's been broken up in a way, which is so sad. The best shows are where everybody, of whatever age, are experiencing the same thing and getting the same buzz out of it. You need the kids to kickstart it, and once they get it going, the old folks remember why they went to a rock and roll show in the first place. It's a wonderful feeling when it all kicks off like that. In the U.K. and the States, the media has cut the generations in half away from each other. It's very sad." Paice added that any decision regarding a possible performance at the induction ceremony will have to be made with the blessings of all the current members. "We don't have salaried guys with [keyboardist] Don [Airey] and [guitarist] Steve [Morse]. They are fully accredited members of the band and they share in everything, and into decisions as well. They will have to be consulted and see how they feel about anything that the three of us originals think we would or wouldn't like to do." MIKKEY DEE: "MOTÖRHEAD IS OVER" It's hardly a big surprise but Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee has confirmed that the band is over. Lemmy had hinted in one of his final interviews in early December that the band may continue without him when he told Dave Ling in Classic Rock that if the band wanted to continue after his passing, he would not have a problem with it. However, it is now official that 'Bad Magic', the 22nd Motörhead studio album which was released on August 28th, will be the last one and there will be no more live appearances. "Motörhead is over, of course," drummer Mikkey Dee told Sweden's Expressen newspaper. "Lemmy was Motörhead. But the band will live on in the memories of many. We will not be doing any more tours or anything. And there will not be any more records. But the fire survives, and Lemmy lives on in the hearts of everyone." Motörhead's final concert took place on December 11th in Berlin, Germany. Source: http://metaltalk.net/news2015sg/2015296.php

Dio Bass Player Jimmy Bain Dies Aged Jimmy was Dio's bass player between 1982 and 1989 and then again from 1999 to 2004 and was also a member of Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio for a short time, appearing on the 'Rising' album. The list of bands and musicians he worked with is long and exemplary, including Phil Lynott, John Cale, Scorpions and Kate Bush. Jimmy was born in Scotland in 1947 and after turning professional in the early 70s was asked to join Rainbow by Ritchie Blackmore who saw him play at The Marquee Club in London. He stayed with Rainbow for one album and tour, but was a major part of Dio, co-writing on many songs. He also founded Hear n' Aid, the charity foundation to help alleviate poverty, co-writing 'Stars' with Ronnie James Dio and Vivian Campbell.

It's a great album. I skipped the previous one so I haven't bought a Megadeth album since 2011. With that being said - it's a great album that goes by fast especially with 13 songs.

Status Quo Announce The Last Ever Electric Tour Dates Status Quo today announce that their 2016 live shows will represent their last ever full on Electric tour. Following a final high profile European tour, which will start in October and include UK dates in December 2016, no further electric tours will be booked for this legendary band. Francis Rossi said, ?We?ve talked about it for some time and have decided that it?s time for us to hang up the electrics. It?s getting harder and harder for us to play those shows. It?s 30 years since we last said we were stopping but this is a final decision. It doesn?t mean we won?t do other things, perhaps the odd special, but we?re agreed that the moment has come. There?s more to come from us in the years ahead, but we won?t tour the electric set ever again?. Rick Parfitt added, ?We always thought we?d see a red light when it was time to stop. The show hurts now, physically. It?s hard to maintain that level of energy and without that it?s not really a Quo show. So we don?t feel we should continue. This is definitely the end of our lives on the road with the electric set, life won?t be the same for us ? or many of the fans ? but we can?t go on at this pace any more?. ?The Last Night Of The Electrics? Tour will go on sale in February 2016. Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Bown, John ?Rhino? Edwards and Leon Cave will plug back in and bring their thunderous electric live show back to the nation?s venues for the last time. Packed with hits, both new and old, taken from that unbelievable back catalogue. If you love Status Quo, you need to be there; if you?ve never before seen this truly legendary act play a full full-throttle no-nonsense electric set, you need to be there! These tour dates will truly be the end of an era as Status Quo turn their back on constantly touring their fabled electric live set. Since first charting in 1967 the band have become a truly iconic and massively influential rock act. The world of music will not be the same once the dust has settled from ?The Last Night Of The Electrics? Tour. Source: http://www.statusquo.co.uk/lastnight.html#.Vq8b-Pntk8M

DOWNLOAD TO RENAME 2016 MAIN STAGE AFTER LEMMY PLUS LOTS MORE MOTÖRHEAD NEWS Download Festival's main stage will be named "The Lemmy Stage" this year in honour of the iconic Motörhead frontman who passed away in late December. Motörhead were booked to play the main stage on the Friday afternoon and where the band's name previously appeared on the billing, there is now a graphic of Lemmy's hat. One idea for a tribute that was previously muted on these pages was that Motörhead's Download slot could be used to honour Lemmy with a one-off band made up from the selection of musicians available on the day, which would be quite some line-up. It looks as though this might now actually happen, however renaming the stage for just one year only has not gone down too well with the fanbase. The general consensus of posters on the Official Download Facebook page is that this should be a permanent move and not just for 2016 only. The statement from the Download organisers reads as follows: "Whilst we're saddened to say Motörhead will no longer be performing at this year's Download Festival, we will honour a true rock n' roll icon who inspired so many others on the bill, Lemmy Kilmister. For one year only, Download Festival's Main Stage will be named 'The Lemmy Stage' in tribute to a much loved and missed legend. We are working with Motörhead's management on a tribute to the great man during the slot he would have performed on, more information to follow."
