GEOFF TATE'S OPERATION MINDCRIME CONTINUE THEIR 'RESURRECTION' WITH NEW ALBUM Former Queensr?che frontman Geoff Tate's new band, Operation Mindcrime, have announced that they will release a brand new album, titled 'Resurrection' on Friday 23rd September via Frontiers records. The album is the follow up to 'The Key' which was released in September 2015 and was the first part of a musical trilogy. 'Resurrection' follows up the groundwork laid by 'The Key' which was acclaimed from some quarters on its release. Geoff told us: "The Resurrection' album is the second part of our three album presentation. It continues the story that began on 'The Key' with the near death experience of the lead character known as "H" and his subsequent recovery of the missing encryption key. With the key finally in his possession, "H" has everything he needs to finally launch his long awaited project called The New Reality. Or does he..." RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW TO PLAY AGAIN BUT WITH LESS DEEP PURPLE SONGS Ritchie Blackmore has revealed in an interviews with Dutch radio station Radio Veronica that it is likely that he will be taking his current Rainbow line-up out on the road for more shows at some point. Twenty-one years after unplugging his customary white Stratocaster to perform with his wife, Candice Night, in the medieval folk rock band Blackmore's Night, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow returned to wild applause at the Monsters Of Rock event held in Loreley, Germany on Friday 17th June then followed that with another performance at Festplatz am Viadukt in Bietigheim-Bissingen before wrapping up the trio of gigs at Birmingham's Genting Arena on 25th June. You can read all about the Birmingham gig right here. In the Radio Veronica interview, Ritchie appears to be happy with the comeback shows and it seems more than probable that there will be more but he says that next time: "I would do probably ninety-five percent Rainbow songs; that's what they seem to want to hear." Yeah, it seems Mustaine would rather cancel gigs than have a bass player sitting down. Just shows you how much respect he has for his ticket buying fans.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD GIG IN ATLANTA CANCELLED DUE TO GARY ROSSINGTON ILLNESS Lynyrd Skynyrd founding member Gary Rossington was taken ill yesterday (Monday 18th July 2016) and the band were subsequently forced to cancel a scheduled show at Artpark, Lewiston tonight, Tuesday 19th July. An official statement from the band's representatives reads: "Lynyrd Skynyrd's performance at Artpark in Lewiston, NY on 19th July has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule the show in the near future. Founding member and guitar player, Gary Rossington, is seeking doctor's evaluation in Atlanta after experiencing some chest pains. Lynyrd Skynyrd will resume their tour once Gary is cleared by medical professionals. We will advise as soon as we have additional information." Rossington underwent a heart bypass in 2003 and in early 2015 he was hospitalized for an abdominal infection. In November 2015, Skynyrd pulled the remaining tour dates for 2015 to allow him time to recover following a heart attack in early October. The heart attack took place only days before he had been due to undergo heart surgery. Doctors subsequently repaired two heart stents and added a third during treatment and his health crisis prompted the band to postpone their upcoming shows. Dave had a tough upbringing as well being cut from Metallica for substance abuse. He seems a bit bitter & dances to his own drum. Like both bands equally. P.S. Enjoy reading your Metal Talk as it's very informative w/ no fluff.

Yeah, even now, Mustaine comes across as bitter about what happened over 30 years ago! He needs to let the past be the past. Thanks for your kind words re: the MetalTalk stuff. We (the team) put in a lot of effort so it's nice to be appreciated.

Glad to hear Mr. Iommi is doing better. I love Black Sabbath and was just recalling the year "Reunion" was released in 1998 and I bought the album, enjoyed it, then someone stole it. Guess they had great taste in music. Psycho Man(Osbourne, Iommi):
