Would love to hear Jamiroquai do this one.

Earth Wind & Fire - Getaway (live, 199: (includes a great dueling bass-guitars solos)
-
Stevie Wonder on Sesame Street
-
Great version. So loose....yet, totally tight.
-
What is a funk topic without Sesame Street? It just occurred to me, maybe Mitt Romney has nothing against Big Bird. He simply hates the funk.

One word: DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!
(one of my all-time fave bass-lines) -
funkstar650's Bass play along: "Tonight We Love" by Rufus w/ Louis Johnson:

Yes Audi! My music library is seriously lacking some FUNK!
Here's one that EVERYONE knows and loves: Parliament -- Give Up The Funk (1976)
(an awesome live version) But here's something ya' might not know -- but is an essential amongst funk fans: The Gap Band - Oops Upside Your Head (1980)Love Parliment Flashlight the best. They always played them at the roller rink when I was young.
-
A really funky song.
-
I thought some of their music was very funky. Roller rink!

Soft-rock radio has ruined that track for me. Whenever I hear "Brick House," the phrase listen-while-you-work enters my brain... ...This is The Commodores that I prefer:

That's Awesome!! So much talent on that stage. I saw Chaka Khan once in the mid-80's in a little club, great show! Audi, this is a great thread, I discovered some great music here. Also, I love Prince the best when he gets funky, same with Red Hot Chili Peppers. I am HUGE Bonnie Raitt fan, Queen of the slide. Check out this song Bonnie wrote, its my favorite song she ever wrote...love the bass line and the lyrics. Bonnie had been dropped by her record label and was picked up by Capitol Records and won lots of Grammys when this hit. (nice revenge ) I think this song got a little lost on the CD because of the hits.
