Here are some of mine. Could come up with more than 5, I'm sure, but trying not to get too carried away: The Comedians -- Roy Orbison Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow) -- John Prine Your Imagination -- Brian Wilson Light My Fire -- The Doors I Will Stand Fast -- Fred Small

I don't know. Who rocks harder than Donny Osmond? He's the Mormon Ozzy. I'd love to hear Donny do "Paranoid".

Here are solo artists: If I Can Dream - Elvis Your Song - Elton John This Is The Time - Billy Joel You're My World - Tom Jones 3 way tie: Got To Be There, Never Can Say Goodbye, I'll Be There - Michael Jackson (I know, the last 2 are with the Jackson 5, but we all know Michael was the star!)

Great post Bruce! Off the top of my head...and this is so hard!!! *Tupelo Honey - Van Morrison (many Van favs but this one is fantastic) *God Only Knows - Beach Boys (absolutely my favorite Beach Boy song) *I'm Yours - Jason Mraz (thought I would include a modern song; I Love this song because for some reason I feel like I can dance to it; otherwise I have 2 left feet * I Can't Go For That - Hall & Oates (thought I would throw in a R&B number) *Father and Son - Cat Stevens (my favorite Cat song...love the lyrics and melody)

3 of us so far had God Only Knows on their list. I met The Beach Boys in 1978 and told Carl Wilson that it was my favorite BB song and he told me Brian wrote it in 15 minutes! (Didn't get to meet Brian as he was in his "recluse" phase then!)

_____________________________________________________ And Carl Wilson sang lead and he had the perfect voice for it. It should be noted that Tony Asher helped Brian with the lyrics. Brian's strength was definitely on the melody side. Mike Love wrote the lyrics on Good Vibrations which I think is their 2nd greatest song. I got a kick in the Movie about Brian Wilson (the recent movie) where Brian is playing his initial version of God Only Knows to his Father on his home piano. His father didn't care for it and called it "wishy, washy". Unfortunately, Brian didn't have a Father who encouraged him. How could you not see the genius of that song even in its early stage.

I can't stop at 5 songs...here's another 5 *You Never Can Tell - RIP Chuck Berry *Gold in Them Hills - Ron Sexsmith (heard this song in the About Time Movie with Rachel McAdams. Love this movie and this song. * Lonely Teardrops - Jackie "Mr. Excitement" Wilson * Having a Party - Sam Cooke (by far the best and original version) * Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin (I also really like Carole King's version who along with her husband are the songwriters.

The movie is "Love and Mercy." It's fascinating and really well done. Worth finding and watching, for sure.
