Is Macklemore and Ryan Lewis a gay rap music duo? Their big hit has a gay rights theme? I don't like their music, but appreciate the sentiments. Does anyone besides me get John Legend and Usher mixed up? Just a few random thoughts. Guess I'll catch some of the Grammys--at least it's a music show. I want to see Macca's performances, of course. I get tired of Justin Timberlake. The Grammys is gonna seem even more glitzy and commercialized, compared with that "Americana Music" rerun on PBS I saw again this week featuring "roots" music which is newly popular as a fusion of blues, country, folk rock, folk, country rock, Irish music, soul, etc. "The Carolina Chocolate Drops" is a very talented intriguing Americana band from N.C. with all black musicians, has a female lead singer who pointed out black folks have always been a part of the country scene, always lived in the Southern countryside. She's irked to be left out. Elizabeth Cook is another new Americana artist, talented and young like the Carolina Chocolate Drops but says she still gets left out of being played on country radio, and is perceived as not fitting in. Fantastic Emmy Lou Harris was hailed as the mother of the movement having helped originate country rock with Gram Parsons back in the day. Showed the Civil Wars and Mumford and Sons too along with much lesser known groups.
