Me, too! Although, I did miss being up close to the stage. I saw Macca from the third row in Indy and that was an unbelieveable experience -- he makes lots of eye contact with the first few rows and really engages everyone.
I didn't realize you were at Indy too. My friend and I drove up from Alabama to the concert. I had seats to the side of the stage (Rusty's side) about level with the stage and about even with 3rd row on the floor. That's the concert where Paul read my sign and gave my friend and I a smile and a thumbs up. I will never forget that moment. He really does interact with the audience. You are right once you are that close its just not the same anywhere else. Those were probably the best seats I've ever had to a concert. At Liverpool we got to about 10 rows back from the stage which was great but I did not have the sort of view I had in Indy, as there were lots of tall people in front of me. Were you sitting or standing in Liverpool?
-
Sam, I saw the picture of you meeting Jerry Lee Lewis. In my opinion noboby can play the piano as fast as he can. He came down here a few years ago but I didn't go I don't know why. Maybe because there would be alot of people my parents age. Even Little Richard came here and I didn't go, I didn't know he was coming till the last minute. Little Richard is pretty good himself and it is too bad he didn't get the credit eh deserved. HE even talked about how he didn't make it big because he was black and Elvis did because he was white and how Pat Boone covered his song and made it sell. I think he was a little disappointed that he got inducted into the rock n'roll hall of fame late and that Paul received the lifetime acheivement grammy before he did and Paul didn't mention him in his speech.HE siad it made him want to cry. Speaking of Jerry Lee Lewisisn't he a pretty religious person as well? I know Little Richard became a preacher.

Hi Everyone. Due to my sleeping I've fell behind the posts a little so forgive me if I make this a mass posting. (I'm going back to bed for another hour or so. Clo, Mike and Cesar I'm actually at #1 right now by two votes. Then they get their `people' to vote and I drop back to #4 or #5. But we usually catch up eventually. Weekneds are always a little slow voting wise. We need to draw ahead and then we'll stay there. Thanks for all you votes anyway. Mike and Swaying Daisy Your posts re Little Richard and The Beatles are interesting. John was always a legpuller and maybe LR didn't catch on too well. And I love it that you've all fell in LOVE with Liverpool !! Paulfan There were so many great rock artistes in the 50's it was very hard to decide who was best. It depended on your mood. Iwas going to write a book called `The Seven Kings of Rock'n'Roll'. Then ended up with TWELVE, heh ,heh. Back much later today as I'll be downtown. Cheers. Sam.
-
Swaying Daisy Sounds like you got some cool Macca interaction in Indy, too. I flew up from FL to see the Indy concert because I got great seats. It's unbelievable to be that close to the stage. In the future, i'd rather see him less but up close verus more but from further away -- it's a whole different experience being in the first few rows. Liverpool was a great show and had 10 times the hoopla and excitement that Indy had -- but Indy sticks out to me just as much because of the good seats. Cheers! Mike

Hi Beaky (Buckbeakbabie). Enjoy your break by learning to play the guitar. Make the most of your `relax' time. Or write a book !! Have a great weekend. Cheers. Sam.
Hi, Sam, I should take your advice, I started to learn but didn't get time with school and all that ... And, well, I do write a bit .. but I don't have enough imagination to come up with my own characters, I borrow someone else's JK Rowlings. I am an avid fanfic writer I write stories about HArry and his friends. It's a bit silly, but I really enjoy it. I have to do something while waiting for book six!! I'd better go!! All my loving! 'Beaky xxxooo
-
Hi Beaky (Buckbeakbabie). It's always been said that Ireland was the home of Saints, scholars and poets. So write some songs, grab a guitar and away you go. And if you get as big as U2 I'd like 10% for giving you the notion....please. Cheers. Sam.
-
Hi Sam, I certainly did fall in love with Liverpool. I was really impressed by how friendly everyone was to me. I've never felt that welcomed anywhere else I've traveled. I'm glad that you enjoyed your Billy Fury celebration over the weekend. Sadly, I'm afraid that I only know him by name from reading Beatles books. Maybe I can find some of his music and give it a listen.
-
Hi Sam, How far have you gotten with the book? When will it be out? I can't wait to read it when you finish. Early rock n'roll sounds real good and there was a band in the 80s called the Stray Cats who used to make their music sound like rocabilly which I thought was pretty good. Rock N'Roll is here to stay it will never die. How is your screenplay coming along?
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). It's coming along slowly. I'll tell you all when it's ready. And I too liked the Stray Cats. Cheers. Sam.
-
That is good to know Sam. Stray Cats were a good group. Also there is a television show down here called Happy Days that takes place in the 50s. My favorite character is a a guy named arthur Fonzarelli who is a greaser and when he snaps his fingers the jukebox turns on. I'm not sure whether you heard of it or not but it was very popular in the 70s and also the movie Grease which takes place in the 50s. That is a m usical based on teenage life in the 50s which I thought was pretty good. You might want to check it out and Happy Days if you come to CHicago. Happy Days comes on Nick At itie TvLand.
-
Sorry to disturb, Paulfan, but I would prefer by far the 60´s groups. I can remenber vividly The Herman´s [ they gave a " show " in Porto alegre 1967 ], Pacemakers, The Who, The Stones [ I just suggest you to listen 3 of their tunes if you are more for rock a] mother lil helper b] the last time c] get off of my cloud or Backstreet girl if you are more for the ballads ], Monkees, Turtles, Byrds, Sam the Sham and the Pharaos, Gary Lewis and the Playboys,.... Anyone heard about Paulo and Animal Rights, not to mention Chico!??? cheers
-
Bimbi I am for both ballads and rock. IT depends on what I feel like listening to. I love the Rolling Stones and my brother likes the Who so I have listened to them. I have a Monkees cd and Turtles and they are pretty good also. You are right about the 60s being the group thing. I think that for individual performers the 50s was the dawn of rock n'roll. I haven't heard from animal rights or Chico.
-
I've enever heard of the Herman's. You weren'tt alking about Herman's HErmits were you? Maybe I will check out some of the other groups you mentioned.
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). We all grew up on Happy Days. And I've seen Grease more times than most people. We're not exactly in the `boondocks' over here, heh, heh. Chat later. Sam.

Hi everyone. Let's not bother with the `Top 100 Sites' table anymore. The votes are being rigged. Every time six other sites, who are all part of a `Webring' get votes they all go up by the same total simultaneously. Again today the six sites went up the first time by 13 votes each. Then a few hours later they all increased by 3, again at the exact same time. And then in the last hour by 40...all at the same time. No chance !! It doesn't take much working out they, or the owners of the Webring, are somehow rigging the votes. I'm not taking part anymore and have withdrawn my site from the `top 100' tables. I appreciate it's not the owner of the top 100 sites who is to blame. Each voter is supposed to go to the individual website to register a vote. It insults my intelligence to suggest that today alone 336 people all voted at the same time on three occasions. No way !! What is really happening is that someone is making each vote register on the six different sites. Cheers. Sam.
-
That really stinks, Sam It just proves that you have the better website They were jealous and tired of seeing you win all the time. It doesn't matter how many votes they get .... their sites are still not as good as yours!
-
Thanks for that Clo. If you go to your other thread you'll see how to register a review and rating on Beatlelinks which is a better table anyway. Love and hugs. Sam.
-
Hi Clo and everyone who has voted for me. This is the link to Beatlelinks.com http//www.beatlelinks.net/cgi-bin/links/review.cgi?ID=1782 You'll see my site and can scroll down to where you can enter a review and rating of my site....hopefully 10. Your entry will go up the next day. I think you can only do that the one time though although some of my friends have managed to sneak in a second, heh, heh. If you go to the `Top Rated' link at the top of the page you'll see that we're quite high up on both tables. We're amongst all the Tribute Bands. Beatlelinks is actually a great site and run very well, full of all the premier and well established Beatle sites. Thanks anyway for your fabulous support. It's really appreciated !! Love and hugs. Sam.

Sam that is good to hear. I wasn't sure whether they aired Happy Dyas over there since they didn't have television in some coutnries back in the 70s. In India they didn't have television there until the late 70s or early 80s so they wouldn't have seen shows like Happy Days. As for Grease I would expect people to have seen it since it is a movie. Travolta himself said Paul is his favorite beatle which made me happy. Even BIll Clinton cosnidered Paul his favorite beatle. How realisitc was Happy Dyas and Grease? Which one of the characters in Happy Dyas do you think Paul was the most like or in Grease? How about John?
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). I live in England...where TV was invented. Our quality of TV is far superior to that in the USA. And we can do things with our remote controls that haven't even been thought of over your side of the pond. Such as watching sports events from either side of the arena and even above. You should check. Believe it or not America hasn't begun to explore the possibilities of TV transmission as yet. But I'm sure you'll catch up....eventually...heh, heh. I don't want to imagine John or Paul doing a character in Grease. They're far cooler than that. Back later. Cheers. Sam.
