Hi everyone! John was a talented man, but sometimes i too feel that Paul had more to work with. John had great ideas, things to say, and stuff to stand up for...I think thats what makes him the Beatle, so to say. It was almost as if he was the voice of the group. He was their spokesman. I really think people wanted something to believe in, a change, something to grasp onto, and John and Yoko provided it for them...Peace. Thats what got him where he is, in my opinion. Yes the Beatles did a lot for him, but when his name pops into mind, 'Peace' is the word that comes to mind. Its what he was basically for in the last years of his life. Now Macca, in my mind, was always about the music. He didnt incopporate all that other outside stuff into it. He was the one who really didnt want the Beatles to quit. I read a quote of his that said that when the Beatles split up, his heart was litteraly broken. He went into a highly depressed stage and spent his days lying around, unshaved and drunk. He stayed away from the light for a bit becuase it really broke him. The Beatles was his life. And to this day, he is still all about the music. He didnt pull a John, and go make himself a poster guy for peace or for anything really. When i think of Paul McCartney, i think of music, and how its still with us today. I think of someone who goes and gets what he wants. He is a real go getter, and in my eyes, a huge inspiration. John was great, but Macca was none the less, by far! 2 great individuals indeed.

Hi Sam, Yes the m=negative stuff sells. I find it sad but true. I always wonder why it does. I was just thinking this and every time Paul tours I'll go see him for he might not be here one day. I will also meet him before his time comes. I'll appreciate him while he is still ehre with us. Paul all teh way!

Harleyblues and I bought great t-shirts in Liverpool which sum up the way I feel about Paul and John. It said: Lennon/McCartney (box with an x over it) McCartney/Lennon (box with an x over it) Genius/Genius (box with a check in it) I think I posted about that before but it really does sum up how I feel. They were both incredibly talented.
-
I think thats how we should refer to them from now on, instead of the Lennon/McCartney or vise versa. It makes sense! Whoever made those shirts are genius!

Hi Vinny This is exciting news and the Royal letter heading of Buckingham Palace is really beautiful. And it looks great to see my name on the Queen's letter heading. I still doubt that it will happen as I'm quite sure Tony Blair wouldn't consider me worthy compared to other more deserving people ...but you never know. I will send Tony a copy of my book though. Just in case he has a brainstorm, heh, heh. I don't think for a moment anyone thought you were a nut or a liar. You're more a Don Quixote tilting at the impossible dream. And sometimes those dreams come true. Whatever happens thank you for your nice thoughts which I appreciate very much. Love to you and Mel. Cheers Sam.
HIYA SAM......I found you again.....Vinny sent me here to check out the royal letter!!! how cool is that!!! I think you are deserving!!! Are you still in Chicago? Your a nice man Sam!!! Take care and...I'LL BE BACK!!! ((HUGS)))) Val

For those of you who might be interested..this is from the internet movie database site. "Cliff Richard burst onto the rock'n'roll world in 1958 with his hit Single Move It. He was then know as Britain's answer to Elvis. His first film was Serious Charge (1959) in followed by Expresso Bongo (1960), _The Young Ones_ (1962) and Summer Holiday (1963). The Young Ones and Summer Holiday were both massive hits for Cliff in Britain and overseas where Cliff was now a major pop star. His next Film, Wonderful Life (retitled It's Wonderful TO Be Young in the USA) was not as successful as his other films. His o there films were Finders Keepers, Two A Penny and Take Me High. Cliff has retained his popularity as a pop star in most parts of the world (excepting the US) as a major pop star and has had over 120 hit singles in the UK charts." I know there was a song of his that I used to love but I can't remember what it was! But I loved the rather seedy movie, "Expresso Bongo" with Lawrence Harvey. I was 12 when it came out and I thought Cliff Richard was really cute. I forgot all about him when the Beatles came along though...

I like some of Cliff Richard's songs myself such as Devil WOman and We Don't Talk Anymore. The latter is my favorite one of his.

Hi everyone! We had been talking about Howard Stern earlier in this thread, well, he has been suspended from the airwaves. Looks like open season on shock jocks, especially with Bubba the Love Sponge (a shock jock down here in Tampa area being fired by Clear Channel) More on... www.msnbc.com/id/4375426 Just scroll down and you will see the story...
-
Hi Sam C. Re Howard Stern. See what happens when we start talking about people. Mind you I was defending him a little bit. WOW !! Maybe that's why they dropped him, heh, heh. Seriously, what did he say that caused this. It seemed to be either a racist remark or a nasty comment about ladies. He's a fool !! Cheers Sam.
