"Oh yeah, allright, are you gonna be in my dreams tonight?" Hello Paul, in case you're reading, I must advice you this is a weird post. Here I go. I think you (EMI/Parlophone/You/Yoko, etc.) should release the Beatles Master tapes. I'll explain myself. I think that most of the Beatles music was recorded in four tracks. Or in two tracks. For instance in "Revolution" the drum is one side of headphones and the guitar is on the other side. So in Yesterday, the guitar is one side and the string quartet is on the opposite. That means that these songs had, at least two tracks that were mixed to make the recording. But I guess that Strawberry Fields, should had a 8-track recording or so... for instance. Well, the idea is re-release the Beatles recordings but including a simplified music software (kind of Cubasis, ProTools but much more simplier and easier to use) that it will allow to manipulate every track. You could hear a version of Strawberry Fields only with John's voice and the mellotron or Yesterday without strings or whatever. Even more, the buyer could add tracks to the recording!!! So they could take out your voice and sing Hey Jude, and mix it with the recording. I think this is future, and everyone will enjoy it. You were right in the 60's when you said that in the future every band would do a video-clip. I think that the next step if to allow the buyer the possibility of manipulating the recording, or may I say manipulating the SONG, giving to the customer an infinite numbers of different versions of the song!. All in one CD!. It could work to new recordings too. You may edit a "official version of the new song (for instance It's A Fine Line" and record tracks that people could add or not (orchestral arrangements, techno beat, whatever!). Thank for your reading if you're there. And, well, if this idea has a kind of success... maybe you could give me a 0,1 % of the profits It ain't too much! Yours sincerely (not "Wasting Away!") Oliver

Hi yas Oliver! No...it's not Paul , so sorry! It's just me...K... Hey man...that happens all the time with "Karokee"(sp?)!! HEH! At least with "me" it's been done. I've changed the wording, nouns, verbs...etc. many a time whilst singin'. Yeah...I sing...but I'm horrid (can clear out a bar in minutes flat ). BUT...I HAVE FUN!! And...in the End...that's all that matters. Eh? Good idea...but...ya know what? I was listening to a song the other day and me and someone else "got into a back and forth thingie"...it was a Paul song. I said "HOLD ON...this SOUNDS like PAUL"...(we listened)...yes it was a Paul song. I said...naw...this isn't the original...it's changed...I think that "maybe" he re-recorded it recently (?)...don't know (listening). Well, the other person said "NO...that's Paul and it's on the DVD/CD of ...!!". So, again...in the end. The radio person said it was one of the "Beatle Tribute" groups. So...in this instance...it ticked me off to think that someone else even "thought" it WAS "THE ONE...THE ONLY..." Paul McCartney in concert. Nah. Don't go well with me. Why? 'Cause there's only ONE PAUL. I think this "sound alike" thing is getting out of hand. I mean...REALLY. I'm rambling now...sorry! The younger generation has JUST started to enjoy the older songs of the 60's. They are enjoying The Beatles. Seriously!! I LOVE IT!. Now Scenerio: Here they (the youngin's that don't have the "ear") hear some song that sounds like The Beatles...and isn't! NOOOOOO...that's wrong!! Just not good...I mean...NO! Not acceptable IMHO! There is only ONE "THE BEATLES" and ONE "PAUL McCARTNEY". Ummm...I best end here before I blow up this here computer...LOL!! I hope ya got my drift though. Peace, Love and Understanding, K (...with feet up and hat on...)

Well, Karaoke is not the same... if you sing Hey Jude at karaoke you don't hear Ringo drums, Lennon guitar and harmonies, etc. It would be something very differente Good idea...but...ya know what? mmm... everyone that has success is imitated, ("impersonated" you say), so it's got to be than the Beatles (and Elvis, etc.) are imitated everywhere... The Beatles themselves imitated their heroes and recorded covers and play them in their first shows. Are you saying that enabling people to manipulate Beatles (and everyone's) songs will make a kind of hundred of mirror-recordings... mmm... mmm... LOL : And what's wrong with that??? What's wrong with having 300 "Hey Judes" instead of only one! Music belongs to the people, so why not record your "point of view" of the song (and keep it to yourself, as long as you don't want a commercial use of it.) I would like to hear your Hey Jude for instance . Or what will you change in Hey Jude or whatever song. It's the melody that counts, the arrangements can change. As Ringo said "what's really important is what people can whistle (the melody), the rest of what we (the four) do in the studio is not so important".

BUT, if one was to change tune of a part of a song...say like I do in Hey Jude(just an example song)...the harmony "may/would" have to go along. So, upon that I can see what your meaning. Thanks for the clarification. Good idea...but...ya know what? I was listening to a song the other day and me and someone else "got into a back and forth thingie"...it was a Paul song. mmm... everyone that has success is imitated, ("impersonated" you say), so it's got to be than the Beatles (and Elvis, etc.) are imitated everywhere... The Beatles themselves imitated their heroes and recorded covers and play them in their first shows. True enough! Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. To imitate, tunes, voice, playing...styles, is one thing. But...to sound exactly like the artist is another...reason being there is money involved. If one is making money from sounding "exactly" (to the un-knowing) like the person...down to inflections...etc. Is pulling money out of one artists pocket...and putting it into anothers. (just imagine say an albumn by "Joe Blow" and one song on the albumn could "be" Paul...,that's how close the sound would be, who's getting paid for that? Paul?)...I hope I'm getting this through...it's so hard to discribe. BUT...I TRY! Are you saying that enabling people to manipulate Beatles (and everyone's) songs will make a kind of hundred of mirror-recordings... mmm... mmm... LOL : And what's wrong with that??? What's wrong with having 300 "Hey Judes" instead of only one! Music belongs to the people, so why not record your "point of view" of the song (and keep it to yourself, as long as you don't want a commercial use of it.) BINGO! You just stated it right up there..."as long as you don't want a commercial use of it.". Other than that...Oh...not a problem. As well, I've not a problem with all The Beatle "Tribute" Groups. I have a problem with the "commercial" gain...ya know? I would like to hear your Hey Jude for instance . Or what will you change in Hey Jude or whatever song. Oh I get down with that one...especially at the end ! My favorite line in that song is: "The movement you need is on your shoulder." I always point to my head and shake it. LOL!! ...'tis me! It's the melody that counts, the arrangements can change. As Ringo said "what's really important is what people can whistle (the melody), the rest of what we (the four) do in the studio is not so important".
Interesting quote. I can understand what he means on that point. Although...I don't have to agree...I love The Beatles...and what they did IS and always WILL be very very important...IMHO/FWIW Peace, Love and Understanding, K (...who's all in red today ...)

Hi yas O! Agreed. Hey man...I'm just a person with opinions (twirlin' finger in air...like biggie wow!). I'm in no way a music "knowledgable" person, such as yourself. I do so hope you understood me and didn't take it in a derogatory way...shape, nor form. For I wouldn't do that to you. I "HOPE" ya know that! Hi Paul~ Hope you had a wonderful birthday, and your pain was eased, if only for a little while. Remember, we all love you, and want you to be happy!

Just checking in to make sure that you're okay, Paul. I promise that you will be. As you know, when one door closes, another opens. You'll know when to enter. Love and happiness are not elusive. Cindy

LOL! I've "heard"(yeah) the same thing from another form of artist. I've read this about musical artists. Seems an artist is an artist. Self-critical peeps they are. Sounds harsh...but in reality...it's a good thing not to be all hung up on ones self. Anyhooosss... True enough...I concure. Hi Paul, My name is Jen. I have been a fan of yours forever. If you need a shoulder, here I am. Just to talk, maybe share a laugh, talk about England, your music, etc. I'm just a little needle in the huge haystack of fans, but I am offering my friendship sincerely. My brother Danny has always been such a huge fan of yours also. Now he is a true fan, because he has never wavered. It's always been about the Beatles with him. Bye for now, from a little speck on the universe of your fan base. Jen

Remember the "Release The Beatles Masters" thing... well I think it has already started in some way... It will be the LOVE-Cirque du Soleil Beatles Album, but wait... it's George Martin the one who plays with the masters.

So great to see your two kisses to Yoko!. And all the pics, like the one with the Sgt. Pepper drum. United we stand divided we fall. V Ok, here's another of my "right or wrong" crazy ideas", Paul. You know Queen has toured with Brian May and Roger Taylor, missing Freddie Mercury and John Deacon. Well, I used to say I'll never be in a concert of the two bands I like the most (Queen and Beatles). I went to the Queen + Paul Rodgers concert, and I can never say that quote again... The question I asked to myself after the show was "Have I been in a Queen show?" The answer is no. Actually I got a strange feeling of not knowing exactly if they were Queen or not. But I enjoyed myself a lot. Because my generation has never been able to in a Queen show!. And that's the closest we could get. So... the idea is... you, Ringo, Clapton and Julian Lennon touring playing the Beatle songs (you could even add an orchestra conducted by George Martin if you will...). I don't think the band should call themselves "The Beatles"... but "The Beatles Memorial/Remembrance" or so... : Quite strange... like I said before, I just give ideas, others will judge them.
