Remembering Linda

Just read Linda McCartney’s Sixties 1993 book of photographs and there was one she took on Aug. 8, 1969 during the Abbey Road cover shoot where she referred to herself in the caption as “just Paul’s girlfriend taking a photo.” I guess she forgot the were already married!
There is another photo in the book that Linda took that day which she called 'The Four Strangers'. The Beatles were sat on the Abbey Road studio steps. In the foreground was her old camera bag with her initials LLE (Linda Louise Eastman) on it. Perhaps she saw those initials (24 years later), and automatically thought it meant that she had still to marry Paul?
Its an excellent book isn't it? I particularly like the photo of the brass overdub session for Martha My Dear. Elsewhere in the book Linda recalls the orchestra session for Honey Pie so this could be another mistake Linda made.

Yeah, I like that “Four Strangers” photo with her camera bag. I think she just had a “brain fart” when she was writing the caption and whoever proofread the book didn’t know enough to correct her. (Why was one of us not hired for the job?!)
The mistake where she said Abbey Road instead of White Album, though?
Was the Honey Pie orchestra session done prior to Sept. 26, 1968? That is the date Mark Lewisohn says she arrived in London.

No, both the strings / brass overdubs for Honey Pie and Martha My Dear were done on the evening of Friday 4th October 1968. So Linda would have been there for the Honey Pie session although the photo in the book was from the Martha My Dear session.

Thanks, Joyce. Great news! So glad more of Linda's photos are being made into books, can't wait to see this one.
-
This one may possibly be in the book, that she took of Paul and daughter Heather
-
This is another one she took. (I'm guessing circa 1984?)

Thanks Joyce! Really looking forward to this book, especially after seeing the Polaroid collection exhibited in Glasgow! The photos in the link all looked new as well!

Linda took some great pics at the windows. I always liked the one with the red window and the little yellow wellies. So glad more of her photos are becoming available!

"Hello, this is Paul McCartney here, speaking with his voice. I have a major problem. I was cleaning my window frame when I dropped the cloth. Can you send someone over to pick it up for me? Linda has just told me not to be so bleedin lazy and to pick it up myself. But hey,I'm Paul McCartney and I'm above such menial tasks"

If I was Linda, I would have been scared taking this picture "Be careful, Paul! Don't slip! Sorry, but I've gotta go inside the house after I take this, I can't look!!"

And after he said that, he hears Linda coming in from the other room...
Linda: "Who's that on the phone?"
Paul: (quickly hanging up, he picks up cloth from floor and polishes window frame) "No one luv, wrong number." (He whistles a happy tune as Linda goes back to the kitchen.)

There are certainly a few Health & Safety issues there. I just hope Paul had enough green paint left in the pot to finish the job?

Photo: 10 Abbey Road 1990's ~ Paul says that he's with Martha on the crossing but that must be Arrow, James's sheepdog.

Its one of those wonderful 'caption' style photos where we could go on for ever humourously commenting on what Paul was saying and the aftermath of his phone call.

Yes, it's amazing how one photo can create an entire story!
